Not only was the mansion exquisite, the rooms were large and very comfortable. From top to bottom it was a perfect stay. Enjoyed visiting as much with our hosts as the beautiful mansion.

We recently had the joy of touring the lovely McNeill Stone Mansion, staying in the Royal Red Room, and learning the history surrounding the mansion and how the Walkers returned the home to it's grandure of today. The setting is nestled in a gorgeous part of Iowa - where the rolling autumn hills of oranges, reds, yellows and browns provided the perfect backdrop for an elegant walk-back in history. We were celebrating my husband's birthday, and the time spent at the McNeill was immensely enjoyable, relaxing and visually engaging. The inkeepers effectively managed each detail of our stay, the food was elloquently served and tasteful, the mansion clean and well-prepared for guests, and all were enhanced by Jenny and Gary's warm personalities and enjoyable conversation. If you have the opportunity, don't miss this experience. You'll not be disappointed, but will want to return again to enjoy the grandeur and elegance of the era the McNeill represents. My wife and I just stayed for an overnight getaway. The house is gorgeous and the hostess gave a great tour of much of the house. The history is fascinating and she was very happy to share that history. Our room was great. The jacuzzi was so relaxing and the king size bed was incredibly comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. We would love to go back someday.

My husband and I decided to take a trip with another couple to visit Pella Iowa for the Tulip Festival. (I am 100% Dutch and was looking forward to some Banket & tulip viewing). Pella had no rooms available and we almost skipped the trip until our friends found the McNeill Stone Mansion. For my husband and I this was our first experience at a B & B, and what an experience it was!!!!! We were greeted by Gary and Virginia and given a FULL tour of the house as they told the story of their purchase and renovation of this wonderful historic home. We stayed on the third floor in a suite, sleeping in a comfy king sized poster bed. In the morning the coffee was brewing and Gary and Virginia continued to tell us stories of their home and life. We laghed at the candor of this couple and enjoyed the chats as the kitchen filled with tantalizing aromas of the breakfast to come. The house was full, 14 of us for the weekend. By day we travel to Pella a short distance away and by night we relaxed with our friends in the comfort of what felt like "our" home. This was truely a weekend to remember and we wish to thank the Walkers for their hospitality!!!!

My wife and I wanted to do something special for Valentine's day weekend. I work with Virginia one of the owners of the McNeill Stone Mansion B&B so I asked her to get us a room. Man was the wife impressed. This B&B was by far the nicest place we had ever stepped foot into. As another reviewer wrote Virginia and Gary were awesome! The definitely make you feel like you are in your own home and part of the family. And the breakfasts were amazing. My wife and I cannot wait to return!

My husband and I are from Atlanta and found ourselves visiting Iowa for his daughters graduation. It just happened to be our first wedding aniversary also. I got online to find something "special" we could do and found The McNeil Stone Mansion B&B. It was way above my expectations. Virginia and Gary were awsome and made our stay very nice. They treated us like family. I have recomeded it to everyone I know.

Photo Album

As you walk through the door, you’ll be transported back in time to a slower, more elegant era, a time when there was beautiful woodwork throughout the house. That beautiful woodwork on the massive fireplace mantel and crown moulding in living room is Mexican Tabasco mahogany, said to be mined out of the Gulf of Mexico in the late 1800's - early 1900's. The construction of the McNeill Stone Mansion was started in 1908 and took over a year to finish. It had every convenience known at the time which included a central vacuum.Royal Red room - This spacious room showcases an antique (1850's) 9' tall Walnut queen size bed and matching 8' dresser with gold and raspberry bed linens and drapery that will have you feeling like royalty. The down pillows and high count sateen sheets may have you wanting to stay for a week. Wait until you see the beautiful private bath with the large original platform tub and pedestal sink. Lie back in the tub and let that stress float away.
McNeill Suite - This grand room has a king size canopy bed draped in gold and ivory giving it an elegant feeling. The down pillows and high count Egyptian cotton sheets will have you feeling so comfortable, you'll want to sleep in. Adjoining this room was once a "sleeping porch" and it has been converted to a luxurious two-person whirlpool tub room. The adjoining bathroom has a full private bath with shower. If you like exotic wood and unusual architecture, you’ll want to stay in this room. With a flair for the Far East , the beautiful Birds Eye Maple woodwork with gray stain will draw you in. Upon entering the room, you will see the Tiffany-styled copper hood over the fireplace. The large china tub and sink are original to the home and has a shower. From the bench under the window, you can enjoy the very large old Magnolia tree when it blooms or lie back on the fainting couch and enjoy the fireplace or a book. The antique bedroom outfit is queen size.
