This was my first time at the Pilot Knob Inn. It was reccommended by my neighbors so we booked one of the cabins. The location was very easy to get to but it's set back from the road so it felt very remote. The cabin was small on square footage but very cozy. We had everything we needed. We purchased some wine from the local vineyards and enjoyed the rustic fireplace with the ton of wood they provided. They next morning we were pleasantly surprised with the included breakfast. There was a ton of delicious food and the service provided by Jennifer and Kathy was great. Wonderful people, wonderful stay. We will be going back and recommending to others.

Went wine tasting for the day and settled in to our private cabin at this B&B. Could not have been any more wonderful. Sat by the fire drinking wine. Very romantic. My husband and I live very close, but with three kids we need an occasion getaway. This was our third time visiting Pilot Knob Inn. We love it! We have stayed in three different cabins since we started visiting and every one was great. Fireplaces, jacuzzi tub, comfortable atmosphere, great breakfast including fruits, waffles, sausage or bacon, eggs. I can't say enough about this place. One morning we woke up to a deer walking around on our porch. If you need a cozy getaway or just passing through, don't pass this place by. This unique bed and breakfast is nestled in the woods at the foot of Pilot Mountain. It is a very private and romantic retreat with excellent views of the mountain. I booked a two night stay at this inn for my husband and myself for our third anniversary. We have nine children and four grandkids and 3 St. Bernards. We never had a honeymoon and with all them people to tend to we were in need of this mini vacation. This place was FANTASTIC! The owners and staff were beyond exceptional, very caring and extremely courteous. The room was ready and also exceeded our expectations when we arrived. It was hastle free. We just went into our room and began enjoying. The breakfast was absolutely AMAZING. The waffles are great and I dont even like waffles. The atmosphere was so enjoyable and the scenery was remarkable. We had a great view from our penthouse suite , of pilot mountain. We were traveling from the Outer Banks back to the Nashville area and wanted to stay in a log cabin in the mountains on the way home. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! My husband never wanted to stay in a B & B even though I've stayed in many through the years in the US and in Europe. This has changed his mind. We came to Pilot Knob Inn for our honeymoon in 2006, and came back for our anniversary this year. We will definitely be back again. We love this place. The staff are among the most friendly people you will ever meet. The campus is a beautiful, secluded get-away. Nice little bass lake on site in which we caught and released about 6 large-mouth in two hours. Breakfast is amazing -- don't make the mistake of sleeping through it.

My husband booked Cabin 2 as a total anniversary surprise. He knew how much I had wanted a cabin getaway, so he thought he had found a deal. Compared to other cabins, it was less expensive. Jennifer & Kathy were incredibly friendly and the breakfast is wonderful! Rooms review: Our cabin, however did not look like the photos. I feel they should advertise each cabin with the actual photos of that cabin. We had a loveseat in the livingroom with no coffee table, where a sofa is shown on the website. There was a chair, but being an anniversary, we wanted to spend time "together". Service: The service was very friendly, but our bathroom door was squeaky. We asked that the hinges be sprayed with some oil, but that didn't happen during our visit. Not a big deal, it's just that they said they would and they did not. Again, the value, was just okay for our cabin, other cabins might be different. Cleanliness: The floor of the shower definitely needed to be bleached or resurfaced and the tub was not exactly inviting either. The shower was not a "two-person" shower either, as the online ad displayed. There was also a log that had been left behind in the fireplace that had the entire cabin smelling of old smoke. Once we removed it, that was fine. Dining - the breakfast is everything promised! It was very tasty and Jennifer and Kathy are great hostesses. Would we return? Maybe we would go to the B&B, but not back to the cabin. The Innkeepers are more than friendly - so it's worth looking into, but ask questions.

We stayed in a cabin for two nights. It was very homey and relaxed, well renovated and nicely furnished. Loved being able to bring breakfast back to the cabin the first morning. It was wonderful to be so close to Pilot Knob State Park, and we loved Soppers Restaurant in the town of Pilot Knob. The only negative comments would be the too-hard mattress, and the lack of a step to get into the whirlpool tub.

Although we live less than two hours away, this was the perfect retreat for our fourth anniversary. As soon as we settled in to Cabin #0 (The Love Shack) it was if we were miles away from home and totally relaxed. Everything from the room, the jacuzzi for two, and the fantastic breakfast each morning added to the experience. We relaxed, explored, fished, had a picnic and thoroughly enjoyed the time away. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in the Castle room. Clear to see maintenance on facility and housekeeping is lacking. Not sure how long the owners have had possession but clear they have not put much money into business. They were not there during our stay. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, and waffles every morning. Worst breakfast of any B&B we have ever stayed in. My husband and I rented a tobacco barn cabin for vacation. The cabin was very clean and confortable. The staff Kathy checked on us to be sure that everything was at hand that could be needed. The breakfast each morning was outsanding. Jennifer the owner was present in the morning, at breakfast, also helping Kathy and inquiring on our stay, to be sure everything was going well for us. The hospitality was exceptional and I would recommend this B & B to anyone. I will definitely return! I wanted to surprise my husband so I blind-folded him and took him to Pilot Knob Inn, which is only a few miles from our home. When we got there, it was so awesome. I took him to the door still blind-folded and then unfolded the surprise. He was so shocked. He is usually the romantic one but I wanted to just get away to relax for the weekend and thats just what we did :) We fished for a while and then we got in the hottub. The next day, we layed around and was just lazy after we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast cooked by Kathy. She is the sweetest thing! I really couldn't have pulled it off without Jennifer's help. This was an extraordinary highlight of our first vacation together. While not an official honeymoon, it certainly had the feeling of one when we arrived at this secluded "Castle Room". It felt like we had entered a wonderland and our stay here brought back all those feelings of falling in love all over again. We felt like we were being treated like royalty even before we learned that the walls in the room had been imported from a castle in Versailles, France. What a great trip! We only live two hours away so it was a great little one night out of town trip. The cabins were perfect, rustic and cozy. The fact that they are all seperate cabins, and therefor a little more private, is a big plus. The grounds are beautiful. Took a quick little drive up to the top of the mountain to watch the sunset, don't know of many other places where you can do that. The breakfast was SUPERB! Will definately be coming back here next time we need to get away.

My husband and I stayed in Cabin 5 to celebrate our honeymoon on our first anniversary! I recommend staying at Pilot Knob B&B to everyone I know. The rustic tobacco barns have been fully updated, decorated perfectly, cozy and romantic! We spent most of our time inside the cabin, but we also enjoyed hiking, swimming and taking in the views from our porch as well as a 2nd story porch that overlooked the back of the cabin! We have decided to stay here every year to celebrate our anniversary! This place was way above all our expectations. I saw a side of my husband I never saw before. He was romantic and truely fell in love with the experience. It is a memory that we will never forget. We have had a tradition of going to the Pilot Knob B&B for over a decade. We try to spend a weekend close to our wedding anniversary. Our latest stay was perfect. The cottage was perfect, and the breakfast excellent!! The quality of the service is first rate, and the cottages are the ultimate in privacy, with the added benefit of being able to hike or just enjoy being outside reading on the porch or the back balcony porch of the cottage. I wanted to stay on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but the B&Bs were quite pricey. Selected this one and loved it. Very secluded and quiet. Great lake with canoe and paddle boats. Easy to find and lovely folk running it. Only drawback is the breakfast time, which is only 8:30-9:30 - who wants to get up that early when vacating?! Suggest giving guest the option of having a microwaveable b'fast in their cabin fridge, with fresh fruit and OJ.

My husband and I visited Pilot knob April 14th and 15th. We got an unexpecting phone call from home about 5:00`clock in the morning which woke us up way to early, so we decided to walk around before breakfast. The scenery was beautiful! We walked to the swinging bridge and took priceless pictures. We walked to the top of the mountain where we then started seeing big paw prints, I then wanted to turn around and go back. The night before we walked around the place with one of Will`s and Jennifer`s dogs named Jean, She was very unique. She ran around like she was doing her part by keeping unwanted varmets off the Inn, It was like she was always working, It was so cool watching her. Everybody was so nice and helpful. We had such a wonderful time at the Inn. The accomodations, the breakfast, and the hospitality were topnotch! We plan on sharing this place with many of our family and friends. Fantastic hiking and horse trails, surrounded by a multitude of wildlife, creeks and beautiful foilage. Within minutes of Mount Airy and Pilot Mountain, the real Andy Griffith "Mayberry." In addiiton, Pilot Knob State Park is a spectacular breathtaking view that you can see from your room, as well as from the dining breakfast room. Just a fabulous stay for couples of all ages!!

The cabin was cozy, real wood fireplace. We did nothing but rest, read, talk, watch movies, and pamper ourselves. I will be going back!!

My girlfriend and I planned this weekend about 2 months ago hoping for good hiking weather, but it rained all weekend. It was a great chance for us to just talk and han out in a very cool place with no distractions. The cabins are rustic and beautiful and the fireplace and hot tub were all that we needed to make a memorable weekend. The shopping in the area is great if you like country stores and antiques. We are planningon going back to this place again in the future.

This place is out of this world. You truly feel that you are someplace else. It is so peaceful and warm and welcoming even in the rain. The cabin was so much more then we expected. I would highly recommend to anyone who just wants to get away for a day or two (you will want more time believe me) to make sure you put this on your calendar NOW..... He proposed in Hawaii and we honeymooned at Pilot Knob Inn! After the stress of planning a wedding, this was the perfect place to unwind. We were able to sit back, relax and focus on one another! After a delicious, made to order breakfast we toured the area and a couple of wineries. We went back to Cabin #5 and enjoyed the jacuzzi that evening. Although Hawaii and Pilot Knob are thousands of miles apart, they are both on the top of our list for places we will be revisiting! Thanks to Jennifer, our honeymoon was wonderful!

My husband & I go every year we have stayed in every cabin and cabin #2 is our favorite. They have such a lovely place and the grounds and service are top notch. We love the down home charm the innkeepers have. It's a place to go and appreciate what god has provided for us and it is all there at Pilot Knob Inn. We stayed in the Pilot Knob Suite and it was awesome. The room was big, clean and quiet. This is a great place for a one night or weekend getaway. The room also has it's own private hot tub out back which makes it even better. It's worth the money.

my wife and i went to pilot knob inn as a birthday present for her. i organized the whole thing including finding a baby sitter for our 2.5 year old. as we were leaving our house for the weekend, it began to rain...and rained the entire time we were gone. luckily, the inn was so enjoyable that it didn't matter. we stayed in cabin #2 and loved the rustic charm. firewood on the front porch so we didn't have to get rained on, jacuzzi tub for my wife to soak and relax in. breakfast was great in the charming breakfast room. we ended up chatting with 2 other couples and the owner of the inn around the kitchen island! the owner was charming and very friendly. we plan on returning again when the hiking trails and lake can be utilized. thanks for a wonderful time!

When we arrived everyone was very friendly and helpful. I have been to many B&B's and this by far was just what we were looking for. The Castle room was beautiful and secluded by far worth the rates. This was our 2nd visit to the cabins. It is close to home for us, but away from everything that consumes our time at home. We love the privacy, the coziness, the excuse to do nothing!! We went rock climbing at Pilot Mountain making the Pilot Knob Inn a perfect place to stay since it is very close to Pilot Mountain State Park. The Love Shack is the cabin we stayed in and it was so romantic we can't wait to go back. The fireplace was a great place to sit and have wine after getting chilling sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch enjoying the crisp evening air. We can't wait to go back!

My husband and I went to Pilot knob for our anniversay and the pictures online didn't do it justice. It was beautiful and the mountain was there everywhere you turned. The people were very friendly and the room was huge and clean. The jacuzzi was to die for we didn't want to leave. Breakfast was great and filling Jennifer is a whiz. The innkeeper "Jennifer" was very nice and very helpful an absolute pleasure to talk too! We stayed in Cabin #3 the weekend of 1/30/09 to 2/1/09 and throughly enjoyed ourselves. The Cabin was cozy and warm even though it was extremely cold that weekend. The fireplace and jacuzzi tube was a added bonus to the already neat and unique little tobacco cabin. We loved the secludedness of the cabin from the rest of the inn which allowed us to just getaway from everything and enjoy the time with each other. It was a great getaway from our normal everyday weekend of work and stress. We loved the fact the Pilot Mountain state park was just a hop skip and a jump up the road from the Inn. Well within walking distance with lots of wildlife to see and hiking with great scenic views. We throughly enjoyed the Drive Inn Movie Theater as well in Mt. Airy. That was a great throw back to the old days at a great price. Overall we recommend this Inn to anyone who loves the Mountains and Foothills, and would love to have a little romantic getaway with local attractions all within a short driving distance. I have already directed many of our freinds to the Pilot Knob Inn already for their next weekend trip. We would just like to see a big THANK YOU! to Jennifer for her kindness and help. My wife and I stayed for two nights in January in cabin #2. In spite of the much below normal temperatures, our cabin was toasty warm both from the fireplace and the central heating system. The cabin was clean, comfortable and cleverly laid out. We thorougly enjoyed the company of the innkeeper, Jennifer, and the two delicious breakfasts she served us. Hiking in the area was great. Would recommend this to someone who wishes to try something a bit different but without any risk. The cabins are clean, comfortable and have all the creature comforts you would like including sattelite TV, microwave and refrigerator.

The occasion was our first night as a married couple. The setting was the Castle Room at the Pilot Knob Inn Bed & Breakfast. The atmosphere was magical. As the two of us walked into the room, and as the evening progressed, the Castle Room gave us the opportunity to share memories that will not fade with the passing of time. The cabins are secluded and wonderful. They are neat and clean and have all the extras you would want. You can even bring your dogs and horses if you'd like. Breakfast was good with lots of fresh fruit but could have had a bit more variety. It is in a convenient location within walking distance to the state park and easy to find. The only drawback about the location is is is very close to the highway and the traffic can be heard from your room.

My wife and our dog jake spent just one night in Cabin number two. We were on our way to a ski weekend and my only regret would be that we only spent one night at Pilot Knob Inn. The Pine Knob Suite has a great hot tub outdoors and gas logs inside. We've stayed there a couple of times and looked inside many of the rooms/cabins. There's not a bad room in the inn and we will return to try as many as we can! The Innkeepers are great people who do a fantastic job taking care of their customers, and the breakfast is wonderful. They all worked very hard to make sure we were comfortable. We like to go and visit the local wineries each year and just relax in the area. Give it a try, you won't be sorry!

Stayed in honeymoon cabin-it was a lovely stay as the staff was warm and friendly, the cabin was rustic and charming with rocking chairs, jacuzzi, gas logs and lovely views with the lake and mountains- when we arrived two deer bounded in front of us as we were entering the grounds and then we were directed to our cabin that had already had porch lights turned on as well as the interior lights awaiting our arrival-breakfast was a true Southern delight and it was the cozy relaxed atmosphere we were hoping we would find.

My husband and I planned a three night pre Christmas get away and stayed in the Heavenly Hideaway. I have bad allegergies and typically have sinus problems in hotels. I had no such problems here as the room was dust and smoke free. Fantastic. We happened to stay on the coldest day of the year and still found lots to do in the immediate area. This was a great place where my wife and I celebrated our 20 wedding anniversary. The rooms were neat, clean and romantic. The location and view from this B&B was inspiring as well as located relatively close (5-35 miles) to many things to do like visiting Mayberry (Mt. Airy), wineries, state parks, and shopping malls. This was a great getaway just before Christmas. I think we will come back again during the fall to see the beautiful fall colors as well as during the grape harvesting season and go on multiple winery tours.

My husband and I recently stayed in the Honeymoon Cabin. We were celebrating our 7th Anniversary. What a wonderful experience. The room was just what I was hoping for. Breakfast was great. Very friendly staff. When you go away from your family and children, you sometimes miss them. At breakfast the ladies ask me about my family. That was so nice. I especially liked the dining room set-up. I have been to other bed & breakfasts' and everyone has to eat together. Here they had small individual tables...that was really romantic and nice.
