When we arrived at the Inn, Julie greeted us before we could even walk inside. She was very pleasant and accommodating. She gave us a tour of the suite, which was AWESOME, and explained how to light the fireplace, where all of the food was located (there was a fully stocked kitchen!), and then gave us brochures and a map of downtown Charleston so we could get started on our sight-seeing. The suite, which used to be the slaves' quarters, was absolutely beautiful. It was two stories with lots of exposed brick, beams, and antiques. The location of the inn is very convenient to all of the restaurants and shopping, and is right on the water. I will definitely return to 21 East Battery again. This was one of the best Bed and Breakfast experiences that I have had. View Reviewer Info

What a fun place and a great location! Two girlfriends and I stayed overnight in the Quarters and the hospitality was much appreciated. Great accommodations included two spacious bedrooms, two sparkling clean bathrooms (one with a double sink), and a downstairs sitting area. Kitchenette was well-stocked with breakfast foods, including juices, fresh fruit, cereal, and yogurt, as well as fresh-baked muffins and a yummy egg casserole prepared by Julie, our helpful innkeeper. Julie also provided tips for navigating around town and she kindly printed out my friend’s boarding pass for an afternoon flight. Included in the price is a fun, free tour of the historic Edmondston-Alston House next door. The sofa-sleeper was not very comfortable for an adult, but we enjoyed everything else about the Quarters!
