My wife and I have stayed at Waianuhea seven times now and, needless to say, we love the place. It is set apart, peaceful and tranquil, well off the beaten tourist tract, in the quiet upland forests and farmlands of the the Hamakua district of the Big Island. The property is nicely landscaped with tropical flowers, a hot tub, extensive grounds, and a pond. The inn itself is gorgeous inside with wood floors, original art on the walls, fresh flowers everywhere, Balinese statues, and a spacious and well-appointed great room where evening hors d'oeuvres and wine are served at 5 PM. Both the hors d'oeuvres and the gourmet 3 course breakfast in the morning are filling and absolutely delicious. There being only 4 guest rooms, it is never crowded, never impersonal, and the staff seem more like helpful friends than employees. It is a wonderful place to kick back and relax and very romantic for couples. We are always excited to arrive there and sad to leave.
