We were so pleased with our room, sitting by the fireplace at night, and the jacuzzi tub was wonderful... one evening we took a nice long walk up the country road and just took in the view and the quietness that it had to offer. We just stayed in suite 6. Wow what an experience, the hot tub outside rocked. The view was excellent, the TV, stereo, and fireplace were great. The whole room was very nice and relaxing. Our 4th Wedding Anniversary brought us to Holmes with a View. We stayed in (Suite #2) and found from the check-in with Paul & Miriam to our departure two days later to be seamless and pleasant. The view is amazing of the rolling hills and we sat on the balcony to watch several horses run and play within close proximity to us. The suite was very clean and up-to-date in its decor. It rained the two days we were there and it added to the cozy, comfortable feel of the place. We enjoyed the fireplace and jacuzzi tub. (very romantic) The cinnamon rolls were delicious and the added surprises like juice, coffee and snacks were a nice touch! We travel quite a bit and websites aren't always true to what you get. You will NOT be disappointed!! It truly was wonderful...we didn't want to leave.

We just spent a mid-November weekend at Holmes with a View (suite 2), celebrating our anniversary. We found the accommodations to be exceptional. From the ease of reservation, to the explicit directions from Paul and Miriam, to the peace and quiet ... all were very special. The location is ideal, as it is only a short distance from Berlin and Charm and so easy to come and go as you please. The internet photos do not do this wonderful inn justice. You must see with your own eyes what you are missing out on. Peace and tranquility await you along with fantastic heart warming views. This place is awesome! It was so clean and up to date in the decor. Every t has been crossed and it leaves nothing to be desired. I loved the brand named toiletries and the juice stocked refrigerator! The cinnamon rolls made a great desert instead of a breakfast, which was replaced by the awesome freshly baked doughnuts at nearby Hershberger's. Truly a gem!

Beautiful view, wonderful meal at the Miller Amish home which you can see from our balcony. The Grossi's are so nice. The Cottage so beautiful and clean. We have stayed at Holmes with a View three times now and expect to go back again. It sits outside of town, on the edge of a pasture, and we love to sit on the deck, eat cheese and crackers, drink wine, and watch the horses play! It's in Amish/Mennonite country and it's enjoyable just to drive the back country roads and watch the people. The children have an innocence about them that our children don't have. The rooms are large, clean, comfortable and there are always rolls, coffee, etc. on hand. If you're looking for a place to relax and get away from it all -- this is the place! Food is available close by and it's always good -- and inexpensive. Try it -- you'll like it!!!!!

I just came back from an overnight stay. I must say that sometimes websites make places look better than they really are. Not in this case. It is as beautiful as the pictures. The cleanliness was exceptional. It's close to all the area attractions and once you get to your suite the seclusion is wonderful. You cannot help but relax. Stayed in Suite 5. We live about an 1 1/2 away from Holmes County. There are many B & B's around but we only stay at Holmes with a View. The suite is perfect no hussle and bussle just pure country. There is nothing like sitting out on the porch listening to the country or waking up in the morning looking outside and see the hillside covered with snow. We have done both and we will do it again. The views were as beautiful as described by others, and our sunrise was just what the doctor ordered. Miriam is one of the most thoughtful and caring individuals we've ever met and her graciousness made our stay truly special. Our two bedroom suite was spacious, clean and comfortable. The locally baked cinammon rolls waiting for us on the kitchent counter were a delightful touch, and tasty also. A fully stocked coffee service was also a pleasant surprise. Being just south of Berlin, placed us very close to all of the shops & restaurants that we usually visit. All of the electronics worked well and the satellite service worked without any issues. A wireless internet connection is available and we were able to connect with no problems. We are looking forward to staying with Miriam & Paul again.

Not only was the view spectacular, but every aspect of this, our first visit to Holmes with a View, was equally as spectacular. The homemade bread, cinnamon buns and strawberry jam (that was in our room upon arrival was a delightful, charming surprise. My fiance and I went to Holmes with a View for the second time around (suite #2), and this time was even better than the first. I must say that Paul and Miriam (innkeepers) set a pretty high standard with regards to the upkeep of the property - it is just beautiful, inside and out. Okay, to start, there's a great sense of privacy, as each suite has its own car port area near the suite entrance. Upon entering the suite, you get the immediate feeling of cleanliness, coziness and warmth - the furnishings and appliances are up-to-date and of exceptional quality. Since the first time we visited in October of 2008, there have been upgrades to a number of amenities, including the TV (new flat screen) and the king-size bed. Paul and Miriam really had a great vision when they created Holmes with a View, and they keep the guests in mind, considering the upgrades. They even provide a book that has a synopsis bio of themselves and Holmes with a View. It lists local activities and grocery stores as well. This review is being submitted thanks to the free internet access provided. There are no in-suite telephones, but for us, that was an addded bonus. The kitchen in our suite was stocked with continental breakfast items - the cinnnamon rolls from Hershberger's Farm & Bakery are phenomenal! I'll definitely be calling in special orders to them. We appreciated the in-suite whirlpool tub. There's a fireplace for colder times of the year. Now to the View... It's just beautiful...rolling countryside. Dotted with small farmhouses, a wheat field (I think), and trees that fade off into the distance, you get caught up in the serenity of the view. This B&B is definitely appropriately named. As I sat on the wrap-around deck, it was so tranquil watching the horses as they grazed the fields. The setting is very picturesque - I kept snapping away using my camera. Because our arrival was late evening and after many area restaurants were close, we were able to bring food and wine to prepare in the kitchen that was adequately equiped for such a purpose. Instead of the regular gift-giving of Mother's Day, I decided to treat Mom to a stay. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the place and the terrific view. We love coffee, and the Keurig was a wonderful surprise. My dad gave my sister, my mother and I this weekend stay as a Christmas gift. I have never stayed in a "B&B" before and did not think I would like it. HWAV proved me wrong! It was the most serene setting I could ever imagine but close enough to several towns to enjoy the area. The accomodations are terrific, BEAUTIFULLY decorated, spacious rooms, and clean beyond comparison. I did not have the opportunity to meet the owners but the facilities speak for themselves. The baked goods from Harshbargers just down the road are terrific, and it was so wonderful to have fresh o.j. ready and waiting. From what I understand, it is not your typical B&B, but in my book that is a good thing. I will go back at the first chance I get, or the next time my dad agrees to pay!

What a charming and unique place to complete the celebration of my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. My mother loved the circular design of the cottages that provided windows from every angle of the building. She enjoyed the sun streaming through early in the morning and the majestic view of the countryside as everything was preparing to turn green for planning season. The owners welcomed my parents with a pleasant surprise-a gift of thoughtful treats. They loved the whirlpool tub and the two person shower. It was so spacious and clean. The decor was the perfect balance of ultra modern and country quaint. It is also very eco-friendly with large windows and a skylight that allows you to conserve electricity until it gets dark. I knew my mother would love this place, but my father was overly impressed by Holmes with a View. When we first entered he kept saying, "This is nice. This is really something else."

My husband and I wanted a quiet "get away" night after several hectic weeks with work, income tax preparation, and family crises. This B & B had one unit left and we were invited to see it before we made a decision. WOW!! We have stayed here on 2 other occasions and enjoyed our stays. This was our 30th wedding anniversary and we book the more expensive suite thinking it would be even nicer. Although the hot tub on the deck was nice we were disappointed that the room itself. It was much smaller and then the other suites and much more expensive. The kitchenette was barely adequate and there was little room in the living/bedroom. The people in the room above us were very noisy and woke us up at 6 in the morning. I would not recommend staying in the lower level suites.

My husband and I wanted an affordable 3-day getaway to recharge. Holmes with a View winter discount rates were just the ticket! The unique octogonal unit had a breathtaking view of Amish farmland. The unit is compact but very well designed and extremely comfortable, and we really enjoyed the fireplace. We were delighted to find the unit stocked with wonderful cinnamon rolls, jams, juice and more! Every element was tasteful and the innkeepers thought of everything from reading material to a selection of CDs to a snuggly afghan. While the unit has an oven, microwave, frig and outdoor grille, we ate lunches and dinner out and particularly enjoyed a wonderful gourmet dinner at the nearby Inn at Honey Run. If we had visited in summer, I would have enjoyed cooking steaks on the grill and lounging on the deck. We did see many, many stars on our first evening. The sound of horse-drawn buggys clip-clopping by occasionally added to the atmosphere. We were within an easy drive of many attractions and Warther's was our favorite. Visiting off-season allowed us to avoid the crowds. Our mini-vacation was a perfect blend of interesting things to do and time to just relax. We'll definitely be back!

I think about our visit almost every day and can't wait to come back and stay longer. The people were friendly, the places easy to get to. We went for the weekend just to get away, on the recommendation of a friend. It was the most unique place we had every been to. The "apartment" was absolutely spotless! It had all modern, upscale amenities...granite countertops, kohler bath, etc. 360 degree wrap-around porch gives you a view for miles and miles. (We kept saying we felt like we were sitting in the middle of a jigsaw puzzle.) Farmland and wildlife all around us. Just breath taking. Perfectly located so that we could go to all the little towns to shop, eat, walk, and chat with the people who are lucky enough to live there. We absolutely did not want to leave. I felt that the cost was very very reasonable considering the size of the place and the quality of the facility. Just a beautiful weekend. One we will not forget for a long time. Truely a slice of heaven for us. A gift!

Four couples from three different states met for a reunion and were more than happy with our stay, our accommodations. our view and our hosts. It was a perfect and convenient place to get together. The location was right in the middle of what we wanted to do and where we wanted to go. We couldn't have asked for anything more and would return in a minute !! One member of the group even wrote an "Ode" regarding our visit which will go right along with our picture albums.

This was our first stay at Holmes with a View. The two bedroom house was perfect since we had another couple with us. We were able to relax and enjoy the evening even though the electric went out with the terrible storm. We had an oil lamp and candles by which we played cards through the evening. We are planning another trip in the fall and will definitely stay again.

Two couples stayed for 2 nights early in June. Our visit though short, was relaxing with all the comforts of home. The horses came to the fence towards night so that we could feed them while we heard the Amish children at play just next door. A peaceful yet elegant place to stay in the heart of Amish country.

This was our second visit to Holmes With a View, which is quickly becoming our peaceful haven, that "home-away-from-home" place to relax, unwind, and commune with God's masterpiece of gently rolling hills and a slower pace from our everyday lives. Thank you, Paul & Miriam, for creating such a restful and unique oasis where we can recharge our batteries from time to time. From a practical standpoint, we would offer up a suggestion: to our middle-aged spines, it seemed as if the mattress we slept on has gotten beyond its useful life. A firmer mattress without the "sway" in the middle would have made our latest visit even more perfect.

We found Holmes With A View to be a wonderful place for relaxation. The suite was extremely spacious with an open and airy feel. The decor was clean and classic, with lovely simple touches. Nothing was overly "fussy". All the furniture was very comfortable, especially the bed! The kitchen was very well supplied and easy to cook in. There were cinnamon rolls and a loaf of fresh bread provided for breakfast. The fridge was stocked with butter and jam for toast as well as cream for coffee/tea. There was an extensive DVD collection as well as a lot of TV channels via satellite. The only problem we had was that we could not figure out how to turn on the fireplace, and did not want to bother Paul and Miriam at 10 at night for such a little thing. The view was indeed lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the horses in the pasture on the hill below. The best part of the stay however was the privacy. Holmes was extremely private and peaceful. We wanted a place to get away from everything, and found that at Holmes with a View!

The four of us good friends love flea-marketing, antiquing, etc. and made a one-day trip down to Amish country last year. As we were driving, we saw a sign posted for pottery. We took off down the trail and passed these wonderful units. We all immediately screamed "we need to come back and stay here"! - which is exactly what we did this year. What a wonderful experience! It felt as if we had returned home after a trip. Fresh-baked bread and cinnamon rolls waiting in the kitchen; charming decor to relax in; and a view that doesn't quit! The best of rural Amish Country tucked away overlooking a valley. Just minutes from Berlin and the shops. Each room is a spacious suite decorated with antiques. Very relaxing and a wonderful home base for one or more days discovering Holmes County.

My husband and I recently spent a couple of days at Holmes With a View. This was a return visit after quite a few years and we were not disappointed by the passing of years. We had originally booked for one night and then decided that we needed to treat ourselves to a second night but found that the same 1 bedroom suite we had requested was not available the second night. Miriam Grossi, one of our hosts graciously put us in a 2 bedroom suite (much larger)for the 2 nights and just locked one of the bedrooms. From the minute we arrived it was a wonderful 2 days. Luscious Amish cinnamon rolls, bread, Amish jam, juice and coffee were in the frig. for our breakfast plus all the snacks one could possibly want. The decor of the suite is eclectic with the use of muted greens with accent colors that blend right into the wrap-a-round view of the Amish Doughty Valley below us. Creature comforts abound with plump sofas and pillows, plush towels, Amish crafted cherry kitchen cabinets, a comfy bed, TV, cable, VCR-DVD players with remotes and a nice deep jacuzzi tub. We thoroughly enjoyed the clip-clop sound of the Amish buggys on the road above us and very little other sound. If you are looking for a place to recharge your batteries and pamper yourself by doing just what you want, I highly recommend the oasis Paul and Miriam Grossi have created at Holmes With a View!

The owner went out of his way to come and get us because of an emergency phone call we received during our stay. He even let us come back up and use his phone to make another call and it was late at night. The amenities were wonderful. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet.
