China Doll Guest House

In Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, China Doll offers three complete self-contained apartment suites with private entrances. The one-bedroom garden apartment is a romantic getaway with exposed brick walls. The first floor two-bedroom unit has a commercial grade indoor grill in its decorator kitchen. The second floor two-bedroom unit offers high ceilings, and a private 12 X 20 foot deck. All have fireplaces, two-person Jacuzzis, steam rooms, and gourmet kitchens. Unlike a Bed & Breakfast, there are no shared facilities. Our in-unit office areas include a computer with MS Office, high-speed cable Internet access, scanner, black and white laser printer, photocopier, CD writer, and fax machine. Full color laser printing is available on the wireless network. We also tend to your personal comfort. Each unit has a private two-person Jacuzzi and steam room (robes, slippers, and aromatherapy oils provided). Entertainment consisting of premium cable TV, VCR/DVD’s with a library of movies, stereo, and CD player can be enjoyed either in front of the fireplace or in bed (the 2nd floor has a fireplace in the bedroom). During nice weather enjoy the deck and private garden. For breakfast, help yourself to the variety of coffees, teas, juices, eggs, bacon, sausage, muffins, bagels, cereals, fruit, yogurt, cream cheese, and other fixings. Other amenities include washer and dryer, built-in ironing board, and shoe shining equipment. For your trips to the beach, Grant Park, or Ravina concerts, we provide chairs, wheeled cooler, umbrella, and towels. Baby equipment provided. The neighborhood offers a broad range of restaurants, theaters, bars, and live music. In China Doll III, our garden apartment, a plush futon welcomes you to relax in front of the fireplace. The living area is carefully arranged in a quiet corner away from work areas, and tasteful plants help to create a warm, homelike atmosphere. Here you can enjoy watching premium cable television, or just curling up before a warm fire while listening to your favorite music. Behind the sofa is an amazingly compact, fold-out conference table with four chairs, so that you can hold a meeting or spread out your papers in view of the fireplace.In China Doll III, our garden apartment, you can enjoy dining at the kitchen's breakfast bar, in the cushioned galley-style dining area, or outdoors overlooking our lush garden. The full-size refrigerator is stocked with an array of breakfast items that puts your regular hotel to shame. Bacon, sausage, eggs, juices, milk, bagels and muffins, jams and jellies, butter and margarine, and various cereals and fresh fruits are replenished upon request. An assortment of teas are provided along with a coffee pot and espresso maker.
China Doll II, our six room two bedroom second floor apartment, is bright and sunny. The open floor plan flows from the dining room into the kitchen and on into the two living rooms. One living room has a TV while the other has the second of two fireplaces. The other fireplace is in the master bedroom. This apartment is ideal for entertaining parties of up to 50 people. Plan your family reunion, host a baby shower, hold the rehearsal dinner, or invite all your Chicago clients. No matter what the occasion, whether you do it yourself or hire a caterer, the kitchen is up to the task.Enjoy a bed topped with lovely, soft coverings, surrounded by rich cherry cabinetry on either side. Warm, recessed lights and stereo system transform the room into a place of comfort and rejuvenation. Before retiring, we hope you will treat yourself to a few of our more luxurious comforts. Soak (or even dine) in the Jacuzzi hot tub, or let your tensions melt away in the heat of the steam room. Then slip into a soft, plush bathrobe. We keep a library of popular and award-winning movies on hand for use in the wall-mounted television. This, our second floor China Doll II master bedroom, also features a wall-mounted fireplace.
Time to get to work...and set new records for on-the-road productivity. This is in China Doll II, our second floor apartment. The office areas in every apartment include a computer with MS Office and high-speed DSL Internet access. A scanner, black-and-white laser printer, photocopier, and fax machine are all within reach, and low-cost color laser printing is available. A CD writer is also provided. All normal office supplies are included. The garden apartment conference room seats four and is equipped with an overhead projector and a wall-mounted television with computer hook-up that allows you to make presentations from your own notebook computer.The second floor apartment, China Doll II, features a spacious private 12 X 20 foot deck surrounded by flowers and overlooking the garden below. The two person hammock awaits your relaxing moments while the gas grill and dining table assure full enjoyment of the outdoors.
The kitchen in the first floor apartment, China Doll I, features a black granite eat-in island, stainless Subzero refrigerator, Dacor range and ovens. The centerpiece is a commercial indoor gas grill built into a stone fireplace. The dining room, with its 10.5 foot solid cherry mission style Amish table, is perfect for a sit down dinner party for 12 or a business meeting in your Chicago office.The first floor, China Doll I, bathroom is a private spa with marble and brick throughout. The tub is not only a two-person Jacuzzi but also a steam room. A bench is provided for use while in the steam room. An assortment of aromatherapy oils is provided for use in the Jacuzzi or in the steam. Six shower heads (three on each wall) provide an invigorating experience even while showering with a friend. An antique double bowl marble sink, and curtained toilet/bidet area complete the facilities. All three apartments have similarly appointed bathrooms.
The garden and lower level deck are shared by the first floor and garden apartments. Choose to relax in the double hammock or sit on a peaceful bench in the middle of the garden. The garden bench is an especially pleasant place to enjoy your coffee and muffin in the morning light.
