My husband and I have been visiting Star of Texas off and on for the last 5 years. We always look forward to the beautiful room and surrounding. When you visit here you get to tuck yourself away in your own private paradise. We recommend it to everyone that we know. It is a must for the married couple due to the emphasis on strengthening your marriage with each other and spiritually. We love this place!
This was our first visit to Star of Texas and we absolutely loved it! The Tuscany Room was beautiful, and the weather so nice we slept with the door open high up in the trees. The food was superb and Don and Debbie were great. It was a full house, but we felt so secluded. Let me suggest the Romance Package to anyone wanting to make your stay that much more special. We will certainly be back, and bring friends. We have already shared the experience with others and they are looking forward to heading to Brownwood as well!

Our wedding day was June 6th, 2009. I stayed there the night before with my daughter and step-daughter to be. It was the perfect way to relax before the wedding. Debbie was very helpful! Our wedding was beautiful and everything we had wanted. The room was so relaxing for our first night as husband and wife. Just what we needed before we left for our honeymoon. The food was great!! Such an amazing and romantic place.
We were immediately greeted by Debbie who helped us with our bags and showed us to the cabin. She made us feel very special and welcomed. My now husband and I stayed in the Oak Cottage and was please with the cleanliness of the room. The cabin was so comfortable that were hardly left the room and napped most of the weekend. Isn't that what vacations are for? :) We had our elopement ceremony on the grounds and were moved by Chaplain Don's choice of words for the ceremony. The attention to detail they spent to ensure that our wedding day was special was invaluable. They took all the stress away from planning. The only things we had to remember was the marriage license and dress. We left everything else up to them. It was more that I expected. Debbie & Don -- Thank you so much for making our special day so incredible!

My wife and I celebrated our 5th anniversary by spending a long weekend - we split between two rooms, the Oak Cottage and the Wildrose - both were wonderful, the Oak Cottage is isolated enough to allow for all the privacy desired, peaceful and rustic. The nature trail was nice to visit and the resident llama and cats were very gracious hosts (as were Don and Deb!). We had a great time and are planning on returning in the future - highly recommend this for a relaxing getaway. The food was amazing too!

41 years ago we spent our honeymoon in a trailer something like this, so it was a walk down memory lane. The 50'sdecor were superb. The bed was so comfy, peace & quiet was a welcome relief from a hectic lifestyle. Breakfast could have been better.
We chose Star of Texas for their great elopement package. They made our ceremony memorable and the serenity and beauty of the place got our marriage started on good footing.
We came for a break between semesters on a Wednesday and Thursday. Stayed at Willowbend, beautiful room. Awesome place to stay and relax. Will come back again.

Don and Debbie were very wonderful. They helped me finish the last minute to-do's and organize everyone so that our wedding went off without a hitch. they also were very personable and did everything that was placed upon them so that everything ran smoothly!

We stayed in Room 55 as a long needed weekend getaway. Our time their was outstanding. The decor of the room was cool with it's 50's styling. It felt like we stepped back in time. The breakfasts were delicious and really hit the spot. The nature hike was a great activity and we really enjoyed the artwork along the path. It was really fun being neighbors with biscuit. Had a great time. We will be heading back there sometime soon. We highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great getaway
Walking into the 1955 Spartan trailer brought back many wonderful childhood memories. Everything was perfect from the exterior patio to the vintage 1950s interior decor including books and magazines from that time. The whole area there at Star of Texas is wonderful. The ponds, the doves, the wildlife, the wonderful buildings, the wildlife trails were all a lovely experience.
My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and thought it was Fabouls!!! The service was outstanding! The nature trail was so much fun. And I would definatley recommend the spa package and the wine and cheese package (it mad for an extra special time) The bed was very comfortable and the jacuzzi tube in the room made for a relaxing time! I would recommend this highly to anyone who was looking for a quiet romantic getaway!

We went to the Star of Texas over Memorial Day weekend to elope. The property was was so incredibly beautiful, the pictures hardly did it justice. It was the most romantic and intimate ceremony, in my opinion this is definitely the way to get married. The innkeepers Don and Debbie catered to our every need and made our special event unforgettable. The breakfasts were prepared and presented to perfection. Definitely planning on returning for our one year anniversary!

The Tuscany Suite is on the second floor with a deck out in the trees. The jacuzzi tub was very relaxing. The food and service were wonderful.
I absolutely loved my stay at Star of Texas. The hospitality was exceptional without being overbearing, the property was gorgeous and well maintained. Every detail was thought of from providing candles and lighters in the room to having insect repellent for walking the trails. This is the perfect short getaway from Dallas or Austin and the wineries along the way make it a wonderful trip.

My husband treated me to a weekend away, we were lucky enough to find Star of Texas Bed & Breakfast, it was a magical experience from the time we arrrived until we left. Don & Debbie are very kind and do a fantastic job of making you feel welcome. The food is wonderful. We stayed in the newest addition to the in and it is a Spartan Park Model 1955 trailer, it was perfect. Luxury bedding and most comfortable very authentic 1955 decor. Wonderful patio to sit and enjoy the view along with company from the friendly llama named Biscuit. Don't miss out on a night at the Star of Texas~
It was a wonderful honeymoon. All the peace and quiet and wonderful service we could ask for.
We stayed at the Willowbend cottage. The room was clean, the tub was huge, and it was nice being surrounded by nature. We wanted a weekend escape from "the routine," and that's exactly what we got. There is a beautiful mile-long nature art trail that is well-worth the hike. The hosts were friendly, the food was great, and we didn't want to leave. We will definitely be back.

My husband and I stayed here in April 2009. This was our second visit to Star of Texas and we enjoyed it as much, if not more, than our first. Our first visit was for part of our honeymoon trip in 2006. Both rooms we stayed in were great, with wonderful attention to detail. The jacuzzi bathtubs are a nice treat and very relaxing. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated without being overdone. This visit we had time to walk the 1 mile hiking trail. It was very nice, especially with all the pieces of artwork along the way. Perhaps the best part was the delicious breakfasts! One morning was wonderful pancakes, the next was a delicious quiche. If you're looking for a nice weekend (or longer) getaway, definitely try Star of Texas.
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Oak Cottage while attending a conference at the nearby 4-H Center because we wanted something more restful and with more character than a motel room. We were extremely pleased with our choice. A rustic yet elegant cottage, a comfortable bed, a beautiful stone shower, big fluffy towels, a hot tub and the superb breakfasts have made us fans. Debbie and Don, the innkeepers, do an incredible job. Both my friend and I can't wait to return with our husbands for a romantic weekend. Five star!! Aimee
It was quiet and far away from the city. We loved the location. The room was very nice and very clean. the owners gave us our privacy, but were very attentive. The service was excellent and we'll recommend it to our friends.

Mr. & Mrs. Moorelock were more than accommodating and an absolute pleasure to work with. We also stayed in the Wild Rose Cottage and it was absolutely beautiful! My husband and I visited the Star of Texas for a little getaway. We stayed in the Tuscany Suite and felt a like we were far from home. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was great and romantic. We enjoyed the little touches like the provision of a CD player with relaxing music and some nice reading materials. We ordered supper and although the food was good it was a little expensive for what we received. The complimentary wine glasses were a nice touch. We were a little uncomfortable due to the memory foam style mattress, but if you are used to that I'm sure you would enjoy it. Breakfast was very good. We hope to go again soon and will definately recommend it to friends.
The accommodations are fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The memory foam mattress, jacuzzi tub, and breakfast were the highlights of the trip!

This location was between where my friend and I live, so we met there for a girl visit. Our stay was during the more bleak time of year, but the room was very nice, the atmosphere was warm, and the hosts were very welcoming. Breakfast was a treat, and a feeling of family pervades the place. It was also nice that there were only adults on the property.
We stayed in the Oak Cottage. The cats greeted us and we let them entertain us for hours. The bed was amazing, the food was awesome, and Biscuit the llama was with us many times during our walks around the nature trail. We've never been to a B&B before but from all the other reviews and our own experience, this place was the best!

15th anniversary spent here starting with a full body massage for two, then time in a big tub, big bed and great night's sleep. in the morning, we awoke to a great breakfast followed by a nature walk, which included a pet llama!

We loved our stay at the Star of TX. Don and Debbie were so friendly and gracious. The wild scenery we a nice way to escape the hectic pace of the city. I had forgotten how many stars exists. We enjoyed sitting outside our cottage on the deck and gazing at them without the hindrance of the city. The animals were really a neat touch to the Star. Biscuit and one of the cats accompanied us on each of our hikes, often leading the way. All the artwork and curious items on the trail made it even more fun. The food was fabulous!!! It was clean, well laid out and very cozy. The jacuzzi for two was icing on the cake. We highly recommend the Star of Texas B&B!
Star of Texas is the definition of a romantic getaway. The staff/owners were very friendly and gracious. The pastoral setting was uniquely created for this place of rest, romance and rejuvination. The wooded trail is only topped by the "guides" that may escort you through this authentic Texas woodland - an affectionate llama and a cat! With various b&b packages available on site, we have found a place to come back to many times.

The Star of Texas is for you if you are looking for a B&B that is away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The rooms are decorated to go along with the hill country area and the grounds have a mile long nature walk. On our walk, we were even joined by the pet llama!
We really enjoyed our stay and the care and consideration we were given was wonderful. We particularly liked the hiking trail and way it was decorated and embellished.

This by far has been our best Texas tucked away treat! Loaded with nature, art, and an atmosphere of romance. We definitely make the 6 hour drive to get here again, well worth it.
This is the most amazing place they have everything perfect the food is amazing the best i have ever eaten myself. The friendly atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. It is a wonderful peaceful place with so much love and serenity involved i think it would make couples love again who have had a little trouble. Its very romantic. I surprised my boyfriend with an evening in the Dancing Buffalo Tipi...he loved it! I genuinely had no idea what to expect from an evening in a tipi. It was beautiful. Very authentic (and clean). Very rustic with modern amenities - that's hard to pull off, but they do! I hope that we can make it an annual trip.
The country cottages are simple and lovely. You can enjoy a lovely pond, an interesting hiking trail, or seclusion, if that is your choice. Several of the rooms have indoor jacuuzi's to help melt the stress away. The B&B owners have made their cottages extremely inviting, and a place you will want to go back to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.
Our first to a B&B and definately wont be our last. Everything was wonderful. We came for peace and quiet and thats what we got.
Don & Debbie, The stay was so relaxing and refreshing. However, Don your cleric advise on our son-in-law was so very helpful. Since we got home things have been alot less tense. We now understand more of what he says and not just the words that are coming out. Debbie, your cooking was just wonderful - I (jdf) would love to be able to cook like you. My husband will be analizing your recipes for months. We truly enjoyed having Biscuit and Star following us on our nature hike. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a weekend getaway (8/15-8/17). We often visit B&B's for escapes from the hectic day to day life. Our stay here was one of the most relaxing & impressive B&B's we have stayed at in quite sometime. The atmosphere was very relaxing with alot of country charm (we stayed in the Oak cabin very secluded), the host was very accomadating & friendly, all the cabins were absolutly pristine. The breakfast was absolutly the best we have ever had served, yes served in our cabin at 9:00 am each morning. Thanks so much to our hosts Don & Debbie and all the critters (dog & llama) for a wonderful weekend.
To stay here at Star of Texas cannot even compare to any hotel in the area!! It is so secluded, quiet, absolutely beautiful!! It is serene, and so cozy and beyond beautiful!! It is amazing from the very small , winding, one car gravel road (covered in trees) to the arrival of the cabin area. The garden area is so beautiful with it's koi pond, doves, cats, things to look at...the nature trail is so amazing too, since Biscuit the Llama goes with you on the trail....it is heaven!! The food is beyond description!! You must visit!!!

From the moment we arrived at the Star of Texas we knew we were in for a treat. Everything was more than we expected. The room was super clean, the landscape took our breath away, the jacuzzi for 2 was big enough for 4, and the breakfasts had the dining conversations down to an "mmmmmm". Everything at the Star of Texas makes it a true "shining star"! The most wonderful thing about this B&B is the owners. They were so welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and relaxed! My husband and I will be back soon!

My husband & I spent one night in the Willowbend cottage 6/21/08 and it was WONDERFUL! I booked the room strictly from the website & I will say the website did NOT do it justice! We have stayed in several B & B's and this one is now our FAVORITE! We especially enjoyed the hiking trail. In fact, we walked it twice. Biscuit, the llama is awesome on the trail. We also enjoyed a visit from Star (cat) & Emi (dog), which was fun. Breakfast was very tasty & we enjoyed having it "hand" delivered to our room. If you are looking for a getaway that will allow you to forget your troubles, this is it! It is so peaceful. The innkeepers are wonderful people. They are onsite, but give you 100% privacy if that is what you want. We cannot wait to go back! Also, we had dinner at the Turtle & it was the best! Excellent food & reasonable prices. My husband said it was the best Italian food this side of Milan! He has spent time in Italy & said this was the closest he has found to true Italian food. The seafood chimachangas are a must for your appetizer! Enjoy your trip, you won't regret it.
My husband and I found the Star of Texas Bed and Breakfast online and made reservations. It looked perfect, but I had never been to a bed and breakfast so I didn't really know what to expect. When we got there the room, the Willowbend, was not only cozy, but very clean and well provided for. I absolutely love the tub, and really enjoyed the stay. We are definitely on a budget as newlyweds, but the Star of Texas was right in our price range. It felt a lot more expensive that it was, really. Aside from the rooms and the good food, the wildlife is amazing! There is a llama named Biscuit that likes to make friends with customers that we just loved. All in all very worth the time money and drive out there.

We found a treasure with Don and Debbie's Star of Texas in Brownwood. The best alarm clock in the world is Don knocking on your door carrying one of Debbie's breakfasts. The nature trail with wonderful art feeds your soul. And Bisquit the llama is adorable - big friendly eyes and sweet smile. The jacuzi for 2 melts away ALL the stress. We'll be back.
I booked this B&B last minute for my husband's birthday, and it was wonderful. The inkeeper left chocolate covered strawberries in our room as a surprise when we arrived because of the special occasion. They invited us to use any of the activities on property including the nature walk (one mile easy walk unexpectedly escorted by their llama named Biscuit). They have a number of lovely rooms including a teepee, but we enjoyed our nicely sized room with jetted tub, candles, CDs and videos for our use. We also chose to add the canoeing package, which was so relaxing and convenient. They put the canoe in the water, tell you a good direction to head on the river and leave you to paddle as long as you like. Breakfast was deliciously fresh, and their recommendation for dinner places in town were perfect for our special occasion. I highly recommend making the drive for this lovely B&B. We drove 2.5 hours and it was worth it!
My husband and I just had our first experience at a Bed & Breakfast. And we are both hooked on Star-of-Texas. Everything about our stay could have not been better, the food is absolutely out of this world. The service is way better than any high end hotel. It is so very peaceful and the wildlife is spectacular in itself. We are already planning on when we can stay at Star-of-Texas again.
It was so beautiful there and relaxing. I can't wait to go back.
