My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a trip to Savannah. I wanted a special place to stay, and we were so happy that we chose the Azalea Inn and Gardens. Our room was beautiful and comfortable, and we had a lovely view of the gardens from our private balcony. The full breakfasts were delicious, and we enjoyed wine and hors d'oeuvre each evening before we went out to dinner, plus dessert and sherry when we returned to the inn. Teresa and the staff we so welcoming and helpful. The house is beautiful, and it was nice to stay in a quiet neighborhood in the Historic District. We were a short walk to the Riverfront and the city is very pedestrian friendly. One of the best parts of our stay was Joey, Teresa's 4 pound Yorkie dog who is the cutest, sweetest dog in Savannah! He greeted us each morning, and when we returned in the afternoons from our ventures, we took him into our room with us to relax. We will definitely stay at the Azalea Inn when we return to Savannah, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special bed and breakfast.

My husband and I met a dear friend in Savannah to celebrate her birthday. This was a first-time visit for my friend and I, and only the second visit for my husband. We could not have asked for a more perfect introduction to this beautiful city! Theresa made sure our stay was worry-free and comfortable, and also made sure this was a memorable birthday experience for our friend. The beds are super cozy -- the minute my head touched the pillow I was out for the night. The rooms are beautifully restored and no detail was overlooked. Our room had a fantastic balcony through a walk-out window (to be explained when you arrive!). A glass of sherry or cup of coffee or tea, afternoon sweets, and a wine-and-cheese hour all await in the beautiful parlor. The staff are friendly and helpful, ready to recommend a restaurant or call a cab or trolley for you whenever needed. The ultimate pleasure for me was to see Joey sleeping in the parlor in the morning -- I did not miss my dogs quite so much with this cutie in residence! And what a breakfast Theresa had waiting for us! We did not have a bad meal the whole weekend we were in Savannah, and Theresa's cooking rivaled that of any restaurant in town! Her warm and friendly personality just added to the enjoyment -- we could have spent the whole day just chatting with her. Even in November the garden is gorgeous. There was not one thing we could fault at the wonderful Azalea Inn and Gardens! We highly recommend this inn to anyone visiting Savannah and will definitely stay here again when we get back.

My wife & I were very impressed with the Azalea Inn and Gardens B&B! We we at the inn for several days, so we were able to enjoy the experience over an extended period. There was not a letdown in any area over our entire stay. This B&B provides all the amenities you would expect; great breakfasts, wine & cheese hour, complementary port wine in the parlor 24/7, complete room service, etc., but there is one item that is hard to find. That is the warm and welcoming attitude of the owners and staff. There wasn't any request that wasn't acted upon in a timely manner. No detail was to small in making our stay a seamless, relaxing experience. We were able to meet and interact with all the staff while enjoying our stay. This was another pleasant experience! Everyone one from the grounds keeper to inn and kitchen assistants were friendly and helpful. The location of the Azalea Inn is another wonderful plus. It is located in close proximity to Forsyth Park and close to the 'CAT Shuttle', a free all around transportation service. Overall, this was definitely a '10' experience!!! cor I don't think there was inn for .

I stayed in Azalea Inn with my husband and friends. We stayed for a week and felt so at home. Teresa's (Innkeeper) personal service was so appreciated. We stayed in Magnolia which was a nice room with a lovely large balcony - so we could sit outside even when it rained! It was nice to meet up with other guests at breakfast or during the evening socilal hour. The food was excellent. The pool in the pretty garden was very welcome and kept beautifully clean encouraging us on one evening to use the onsite facilities and barbeque. Joey, the pet Yorkie, became a friend during our stay but our biggest thanks go to Teresa whose humour and friendly nature made our week complete.

My wife and I have visited the States from the UK on a number of occasions and until last year have always stayed in hotels. This then is only the second time that we have stayed in Inns but our experience at the Azalea has totally converted us to this type of accommodation. We loved the cosy intimacy which the Azalea provides along with the friendly personal attention which only a family run establishment can offer. The surroundings were gracious and comfortable and nothing seemed too much trouble for our genial host and innkeeper, Theresa. Breakfasts were excellent and home cooked and the rooms were characterful and well maintained. Being 'Brits' we particularly liked the fact that the communal dining gave us the chance to get the know a wide spectrum of Americans from all parts of the States and without exception we were made most welcome. By the time we left after a weeks stay we felt like one of the family and what higher praise can one give than that.

My husband and I stayed at the Azalea Inn in August of 2009 and we had the best experience. We were there on a couples retreat and we all had a blast. Theresa and her staff are so warm and friendly. You really feel like you are visiting family when you stay there. We loved our room. We loved meeting the other couples. We were in a GREAT spot to walk to everything. When we wanted to take a tour Theresa made those plans for us. They really go out of their way to make you want to come back. She has a cute liitle do named Joey who hangs out with you as well. We liked having the pool even though we never got in it. We had too much to do. When my friends had to leave early they packed a breakfast to go and cooked for us early since we were leaving a bit earlier too. I thought that was so sweet. We do plan on going back. Thank you Theresa and your team. Kurt, Michelle, Tanisha and Aaron

My wife and I had our wedding at the Azalea Inn in July. We decided to have a small wedding, just the 2 of us. The Azalea Inn was the perfect setting. The Inn and its rooms are magnificent. The breakfast and desserts are ridiculously good! Teresa is a great host. There was a little rain during our ceremony and Teresa held an umbrella to keep us from getting wet. We had the ceremony in the garden area in the back of the Inn, it was beautiful. Top notch service, excellent food and rooms, highly recommended.

I thought nothing would top my previous Savannah inn experience, but my stay at the Azalea Inn was fabulous. Teresa creates a very warm yet professional atmosphere. The staff is a definite "touch of the South" -- friendly and charming. The rooms are modern and immaculately kept. And the Inn itself is beautiful. My friends and I enjoyed having a drink in the parlor while waiting to leave for dinner. The food was fabulous -- perhaps the best breakfasts I've had at a B&B. Teresa was also kind enough to send copies of the recipes to us.

Teresa created a tone of welcoming from our first phone call through our check-out. she clearly described the room my husband and I would share. Having the tiny veranda gave us a place to read outside.Although being beside the pool, it was not private at all. Loved having the pool. Sultry Savanna summers demand a place to refresh other than a shower. The two concerns about the room:Monitor size TV and very hard bed. Food great! Sitting family-style around one table allowed for meeting fellow travelers. Joey the tiny dog made the place feel even more like home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Azalea Inn. Teresa and Jake made us feel like family, Jeff was a gracious morning host and served up 2 impressive breakfasts to start our day out on the right track. After a long day of sightseeing in beautiful Savannah, the appetizers, wine and the company of the other guests served at happy hour were a welcome break, setting the perfect stage for planning the night's activities. We met some wonderful folks from all over the southeast who were also visiting the Azalea Inn and it felt like we were in the home of long time friends. We'll be back.

We recently decided to make a trip to Savannah and found the Azalea Inn online after much searching. What a find!! Teresa was very warm and welcoming upon our arrival, showing us our room and the Inn...which new to Savannah we were very interested in. The atmosphere, special amenities, attention to details, BREAKFASTS, snacks in the evening all contributed to the stellar three nights we enjoyed there. The profound sense is that if it is possible, they will try to make it happen for you. Recommendations on restaurants, sites to see, directions, maps, the works, are all cheerfully offered. The history of the Inn and the feeling of instantly warm friendship with Teresa and those who run the Inn with her would make us go back again, and certainly to recommend it very highly to anyone else who might be thinking of Savannah! Miss Betty makes a fabulous bed!

January 15-17 We just returned from 2 nights at the Azalea Inn and couldn't have been more pleased. The rooms were lovely and the food outstanding - way more than we expected with a delicious "cooked to order" gourmet breakfast both mornings. (No muffins and fruit with mediocre coffee for these gracious hosts.) Jeff is a wonderful cook and everyone is so friendly and helpful. They made us reservations for dinner, arranged for the trolley to pick us up, gave us directions and advice and made our stay a terrific experience. The afternoon snacks and wine were equally special and we enjoyed an afternoon soak in the jacuzzi while sipping a glass of wine after a long cold day of sightseeing. It was obvious that they really do consider you "guests" not "customers." If I'm lucky enough to come back to Savannah I'll definitely try to stay here.

My husband surprised me with a trip to Savannah to celebrate my birthday and with less than a week to plan we settled on the Azalea Inn for our stay. What a wonderful decision! The inn itself is very charming and exactly what one would expect for a B&B, actually, more than we hoped for. It was a trip of many firsts...first time in a B&B, first time in Savannah, first time planning on such short notice but it was all very much perfect. The attentive staff, the delicious treats and the exceptional breakfasts were fabulous, but what we really enjoyed were the lively chats with Teresa and the feeling of "relax, unwind, you're welcome here" that we had during our entire stay. The grounds are very well maintained, the rooms are all lovely, the experience we had is unforgettable. Go here now places like these are like rare gems!

Our room "Chinaberry" was very beautiful and well-appointed, and most important to us when travelling, it was very quiet and peaceful. The staff or "inn family" were most helpful in making arrangements for a tour of Savannah, a spa experience and answering our questions and pointing us in the right direction. Sneaking a peak at all the rooms in the inn, each holds its special charm and there are many places that you can sit and rest for a quiet moment — private balconies, an inviting front porch and a beautiful back garden. The Inn is beautifully decorated with period pieces and the murals on the dining room walls were beautiful and interesting to look at. It was too cool to swim in the courtyard pool but it looked very inviting. A huge plus was the safe and ample off street parking. Another plus was her sweet yorkie, Joey. We are dog lovers and to have Joey (all 4 lbs of her) jump up and curl up beside me on the couch was so sweet. And I have not said anything about her breakfastss. They were to die for, the sweet in the evening, were sinfultoo. What my mother twin sister and I loved too so much is the feeling of beeing with a family member , everyone maid us feel so much at ease. The Inn is so elegant and yet so comfortable. I have told all my friends that this was the ONLY place to go. Serena was so welcome and met friends that she will never forget. Thanks to all the staff and Teresa YOU are a Star, that shines and make the Azalea Inn the place we will return to when in Savannah.

A beautiful old house with great rooms and a very friendly proprietoress. It is well positioned, not in the hustle and bustle but only a 15 minute walk through some fantastic town squares from downtown. The cooked breakfast each day was delicious although the option of cereal and toast would make it even better. The pool and the shady gardens are tranquil and especially welcome on hot days. Highly recommended - you won't be disappointed if you stay here.

We stayed at the Azalea Inn for our 25th wedding anniversary. The staff was very accomodating to our needs. They were helpful in scheduling tours and suggesting restaurants. The breakfasts were EXTRAORDINARY! The afternoon snacks were just what we needed after a long day of sightseeing. It was nice to be welcomed by Joey, the Yorkie, every morning and afternoon upon our return. (Sorry, I couldn't resist giving him a nibble from the Breakfast table every morning!) Thanks so much for a wonderful experience while in Savannah!

I sadly write this comment about the Azalea Inn, but I do so in the hopes that the experience I had there will not be repeated for any future guest. But first the positive….The pool at the Azalea Inn is a welcome addition to the Inn and the flowers/landscaping around the pool were pleasant to look at during a swim. However, I would not choose to ever stay there again because the proprietor made me feel uncomfortable, contrary to the Azalea Inn brochure and her verbal assurance before our arrival, that the Azalea Inn staff treats their guests like royalty. I was dismayed by her angry retort to a simple question/request that I made. I was doubly dismayed by Teresea Jacobson's slanderous choice of words, her verbal attacks, and her rude behavior that she chose to vent toward me, a guest. Her justification was that she chooses whom she will treat with royalty. For the price that I paid for a room ($155), I could have stayed at a nearby Inn for about $30 more, a first class establishment with exceptionally high quality service. In hindsight, I wish I had made that choice.

Innkeeper Response
This guest had made a request of the assistant innkeeper who responded appropriately and respectfully that we would not be able to meet her need. About 30 minutes later she came to me and made the same request. Unfortunately, I found the request to be unreasonable, but politely told her that my assistant was correct in informing her of such. She then became extremely upset at which point I suggested that her needs might be better met at another inn and that I would be happy to assist her and her traveling companion (the person who actually made the reservation)in securing reservations elsewhere, perhaps with room service. The other woman stated she did not want to leave and after consulting with the guest who wrote this review, informed me they wished to stay. I spoke with the unhappy reviewer who agreed she wished to stay as well and so they did.

Savannah was better than expected and the Azalea Inn was the perfect touch! It's southern charm and hospitality was as quaint as the historical district itself. The sweet tea all day was delicious. The breakfasts were fun, unique, and a great opportunity to talk with the other guests from all over the world. It was a wonderful 4 day get-a-way! We had a nice stay at the Azalea. We stayed in the Cotton Exchange and are glad we did as we saw the other rooms and they were small. This room was comfortable but there were some minor irritations - small tv, private balcony not really private and very small, and tiny bathroom (no place to put bathroom items, makeup, etc). Now that aside, we had a lovely time. Do be prepared to walk. We did not realize how distant it was from the main shops and restaurant. It was fine for us, but we thought of older people who may not be comfortable walking 10 blocks a day back and forth! The inn was clean, the food delicious, and the home very pleasant. It was neither our favorite B and B, nor our worse.

My husband and I traveled to Savannah for our ten year wedding anniversary. We picked the Azalea Inn and were extremely pleased with our choice. Teresa and her staff made us feel welcome and left no detail untouched. We had champagne in our room upon arrival, cold water awaited us after we spent the day seeing the sights, the accommodations were extravagant, the food was magnificent, and the grounds were spectacular! We've also never had such great water pressure when we have been away...the shower was awesome. This Inn is located on the southern side of the historic district. It's a bit further away from the major attractions, but we appreciated the calm and quiet - there was a bit too much hustle and bustle around a lot of the other inns. Savannah is small enough that the extra 5 minute walk or two minute cab ride was worth the peace and quiet. We spent a rainy Sunday morning reading on one of the porches and all we heard was the chirping of birds and the soothing sound of the rain. It was absolute bliss. We had a delightful time touring Savannah on foot and we fell in love with both the city and the Inn. Teresa and her staff were delightful in every way!!! We will definitely be back!

This delightful B&B at the south end of the Historic District near beautiful Forsyth Park features gourmet breakfasts (and snacks), lovely surroundings, a helpful, friendly staff and a fun environment. The involvement of the outgoing and hardworking owner, Teresa, sets the scene for meeting your fellow travelers at breakfast in the dining room surrounded by a mural of Savannah history or in the garden by the pool. The late afternoon wine and snacks encourage guests to share their day's experiences in the home-like environment......however, it is also possible to have a more secluded visit if one desires. My friend and I shared the 2-bedroom carriage house with deck overlooking gardens and pool......for 6 days during the wonderful Savannah Homes and Gardens Tour and Savannah Music Festival and couldn't have been more pleased with our first trip to beautiful, historic Savannah. We strongly suggest following Teresa's suggestions for dining and sightseeing.

We made last minute inn reservations online and were called a day later that the inn we had reserved had erred and we had no reservation for the night we were arriving. But that innkeeper offered to find us a room nearby. That room was with Teresa and Jake at the Azalea Inn. We were arriving after hours and needed special attention. (Our arrival was even later - 3 hours - than we expected but the door key code that had been emailed worked and our room key waited inside the foyer along with directions to our room.) We expected a very nice room because another innkeeper put his reputation on the line when he recommended Azalea House and we were not disappointed. It was quiet and we slept well. Breakfast was delicious and check-out time was extended for us until our scheduled inn had our room ready. It was much like a visit with close family. I felt guilty leaving after only one night. We would certainly stay at the Azalea Inn again.

I called around to several B&B's in the area without any luck.and didn't feel comfortable with anyone I spoke to. The minute I talked to Theresa (Azalea Inn owner) we had an immediate chemistry and I knew the Azalea Inn was THE place to have our ceremony. The staff at the Inn made the entire ceremony/event the most perfect day of my life. The rooms were wonderful, the breakfasts to die for and the home exquisite. It was easy to locate (we drove from FL) and very close to the history and culture of Savannah. We never took our vehicle anywhere - we were able to walk from the inn to everywhere we wanted to go. I would absolutely stay at the Azalea Inn again and recommend to anyone who asked.

I had the opportunity to stay in Savannah for a conference and decided to take a couple of extra days to stay and see the sites. I stayed those two nights at the Azalia Inn and it was wonderful!!! I got to stay in to different rooms which was really fun. Each room has it's own special charm. The food, service, staff and owners made this an exceptional stay. I would highly recomend this inn if you are going to visit any time soon. I liked that the inn was smaller so you got to meet and talk to others that were staying there both at the wine and cheese hour and at breakfast. It was also nice that there is a pool in the back yard. So calming and restful. I loved it!!

The Inn is lovely. The food was fantastic. The wine and cheese and the "sweets" at the end of the evening were a very special touch. This was our 3rd time staying at a B&B. The other 2 were okay, but these people know what they are doing! When visiting Savannah, in my opinion, this B&B is a MUST!!

I am ashamed it has taken me this long to get to this! We hosted our wedding and rehersal dinner here in June. With Teresa's recommendations and help we planned this in ONE weekend visit! It was beautiful. Jake, Teresa and staff were wonderful. We actually rented the entire place so we kept them pretty busy! Even with everyone there (all 80!) they were the perfect hosts! We could not have asked for more. I even think after all of this they are still going to let us come back! Enjoy your stay there, they will make it very easy!

The rooms were magnificent, the food amazing, and the inn keepers were out of this world. I think EVERYONE should stay at the Azalea Inn at least once.

The moment we walked in the door we felt like we were coming home. The staff is warm, accommodating and fun! Breakfast each morning was a delightful anticipation, could they top the previous day? Wine hour is beyond what you can expect elsewhere, no cream cheese and cocktail sauce here - how about smoked salmon on rye with a caraway mayo drizzle? or perhaps the Stilton and carmelized onion on a pizza crust triangle. Be aware you may leave a few pounds heavier. The puppies are adorable, and so different from each other. Ben loves the pool and anyone who will throw his toy, though Joey is the friendliest with Kacy coming in a close second. Can't wait to return.
