If you want to feel like you are a Beacon Hill resident (and who wouldn't want to be a Beacon Hill resident), this place is a must stay. Accommodating innkeepers, cozy rooms, close to subway and the in room breakfast is a wonder B&B twist that lets you enjoy your room all the more. Only caveat is that if you get a room on the street there is just enough street noise to give you that city feel, but there are no buses and it is quiet by 9:00 pm. Next time we are in Boston, we will stay there again.

"Extreme disappointment" 10/14/2009

My wife and I have stayed in B & B's all over the country and the Charles St Inn was a huge disappointment. My wife has food allergies and asked for something as simple as oatmeal and was told "we have 9 rooms and do not have time to accommodate any such request". We ate breakfast in a local restaurant for 6 days. Parking was nothing short of a joke, they have what they call 2 spaces behind the inn which will only accommodate 2 small cars, we parked 2 1/2 blocks away in a parking garage at $30.00 per night. The room was ok, but we have stayed in much better for $325.00 per night and they did not have roaches.

"Best Birthday ever!" 9/8/2008

I surprised my husband for his birthday with a nights stay at the Charles St Inn. I knew he would appreciate all the authentic decorative details, the working fireplace and the air tub. There was wise and informative guidance for selecting a dining location. All the amenities like a fridge stocked with beverages, wine selection available at the desk, Bose raido/cd player by your bed, snacks provided in your room, fresh towels, robes, slippers and lovely toiletries made it so you didn't want or have to leave the confines of your luxurious space. There was a large selection of CD's and DVD's right outside our room door. I don't know if all rooms or floors have this available. The breakfast served in our room was superb and if I could say one negative comment it was over generous. My husband and I decided on our next visit we would order things to share and still be plenty satisfied. The staff was gracious, attentive and informative. Our stay at the Charles St Inn combined with our dinner out and a trip to a cigar bar in the North End made for what my husband stated as his best birthday celebration ever. We looking forward to a longer stay on our return visit.

"Setting the mood for a Boston visit" 4/29/2008

Where do I start... I am very picky. I am an interior designer and very critical of interiors. The spaces were nicely done, without 'trying too hard'. We felt like we were experiencing the history of Boston and what the inn signified. It is more expensive than other places but well worth the money if you appreciate the details. We like the finer things in life and when we stay somewhere that pays such attention to detail, I have to share.... So here we go... Frette linens (sheets and towels) along with a pair of Frette slippers to take home. There was silver flatware, dinnerware and stemware in the room along with a mini refrigerator that was stocked for our use. They didn't charge for enjoying the water or juices in the refrigerator. We stored our wine in there also! Breakfast is brought to your room instead of you having to get dressed to have breakfast. We were on West coast time so we didn't want to eat early. They would drop off our food and we would eat when we were ready - no set schedule to have to keep up with! The bed was very comfortable. They even had a choice of pillow firmness on the bed, soft down or more firm. The toiletries were Bvlgari. There was a great selection of music to check out, along with several DVDs. The staff was very helpful in many ways, from giving us recommendations for dinner to which tours to take to see Boston. Brian is great and very helpful! ....and I could go ON! ha ha! I recommend staying at Charles Street (be sure to try to get a parking space if you have a vehicle because parking is tough!) The only thing that I wish they had was blackout window treatments! I hope you visit them. You'll enjoy every minute while there, I promise!
