We arrived late in the evening for a two night stay, but the lights were on and Bob and Sue were there to welcome us, and J.D. and Morris, the house cats, were lined up to hop on our laps for a cozy nap. We stayed in the comfortable lodge rooms, and truly felt as if we were visiting long-time friends. The breakfasts were outstanding (freshly baked banana bread, buffalo sausage, corn bread casserole, juice, fruit and excellent coffee were just a few of the items on the table!), and the lodge great room was a wonderful place to relax, read, or chat. The fall colors reflected in the pond, the star-filled skies at night, and the views of the mesas and mountains combined to create a memorable get-a-way.

It couldn't have felt more like home. I even wanted to help out in the kitchen, it felt so comfortable. I really don't know how they could improve on the hospitality from the pet friendly and welcoming environment to the home and hosts themselves. Thank you for a great couple of days. Travelling with our horses has been the experience of a life time, Bob and Sue made their facilities available to us and then asked what they could have done to make our horse stay more convenient. We could think of only one improvement and that was because we were driving big rigs, our hosts vowed to make the changes. We rode our horses in the Mancos area for five days and could have ridden for a month. Therefore, we will be back next year, hopefully for a longer stay. Thanks again for making our trip easier. Sue and Bob were excellent hosts for our four night stay at Sundance Bear. The food and pleasant hospitality made us feel very much "at home" while visiting Mesa Verde and Durango. We continued our vacation for 10 more days and didn't find a place as nice as theirs. We will wholeheartedly recommend Sundance Bear to friends and family. (Mike and Debbie, Lake Charles)

I stayed at the Sundance Bear Lodge to attend the nearby Durango Film Festival and was blown away by the charm and beauty of Bob and Sue's B&B. They welcomed me with so much warmth and it doesn't get any better than waking up to the smell of Sue's homemade french toast and listening to Bob's great stories. This is a cozy haven nestled in between mountains and open trails. It is a great place to recharge and take in the natural beauty of Colorado.

Charming inn. This is the best accommodation we had in two weeks on the road. Suberb food, comfortable room and lounge with beautiful decor. Bob and Sue made us feel welcome and gave us lots of information about the area. We watched a sunset from the hot tub and heard the coyotes at night. The inn is close to Mesa Verde, close to the small town of Mancos, but secluded.

We were lucky enough to spend 3 nights at the B&B and the reception we received from Sue and Bob made us feel so at home in a different country. Nothing was too much trouble for them, even cooking individual breakfasts to suit a special diet. The cosy chats we had with them at breakfast made our stay extra special and they were so informative. We would like to think we could make a return journey some time in the future and would not wish to stay anywhere else. Many thanks Sue and Bob 9/2008

We'd planned a busy sightseeing week with lots of scurry. Mesa Verde was a primary destination, but where to stay nearby? One seach, one email later and we were set. We stayed in Unit 2 of the Guesthouse. It was lovely and well thought out for our varied needs (we have early risers and late sleepers in the same travel group). The views were wonderful - and we especially enjoyed the lightening show on the night that it rained! WOW! You've done a wonderful job at making it possible for travelers like us to enjoy God's beautiful world.

Thanks Bob and Sue for the wonderful 3 1/2 days we spent at Sundance Bear Lodge. We rented the entire guest house for the 11 of us and it worked out great. I don't know if your ping pong table has had this much of a workout for quite a while! Chester followed all the girls around with a stick and they pleased him by tossing and playing catch (in his own way, of course). When we visit this area again, we will definitely stay at the Sundance Bear. It is very pleaceful and the views in any direction are awesome! Thanks again. Steve, Jan and the gang

My business partner and I were completely exhausted. Our business obligations were challenging us to maintain an 18 hour a day working schedule. Deadlines were pressing. People were waiting. Business plans were pending our response. Speeches needed writing. Courses needed planning. We needed to change our pace, but how? We decided "have computers and cell phones will travel", and headed off to an area that we considered remote, even from our small town. An ad in the Mancos newspaper caught our eye, and a call to the Sundance Bear Lodge sent us heading in their direction. We could not have imagined such an oasis from our then state of near exhaustion. We were met at our car by two innkeepers Sue and Bob, who offered us a most warm welcome, a relaxing tour of the grounds, and led the way to the most comfortable bed we ever experienced. The great room was ours to use this evening as we set up a space that included computer and phone requirements, as well as a place to lay out and prepare our next activity. A walk on the grounds, a dip in the spa, and a snack then led to the best night's sleep possible. The morning found us rested and completely prepared for our days work, though quite unprepared for the surprise of the outstanding gourmet breakfast that was served. We ate like it was Thanksgiving dinner, and lingered quite a time to share stories with the innkeepers. Sue and Bob felt like good new friends. We plan to make this a "destination" stay in the future, just exploring all the wilderness, nature, and peace the area has to offer. (Or maybe we just won't leave the inn!)

This lodge has it all- beautiful views, good food, snacks, friendly & helpful hosts, a hot tub, places to hike, friendly cats & a very comfortable great room. The great room lives up to its name. It is a large, attractive, comfortable room with a fireplace, views of beautiful Colorado, games, TV, and reading materials about the region. While our room was small, it had a very comfortable bed and the bathroom was stocked with anything you might have forgotten. We spent most of our time in the great room.

Much to our delight we found Sue and Bob to be gracious, informative and helpful inn keepers. We stayed two nights in the lodge-great rooms- and enjoyed two wonderful breakfasts-Sue shared recipes. Sue and Bob thought of every detail in arranging the lovely rooms and baths. We loved the great room with big fireplace, books and beverages--not to mention the view of the surrounding mountains and mesas. Proximity to Mesa Verde was convenient and a time saver. This was a great stay. I would recommend Sundance Bear without hesitation. The hosts did everything they can to make you feel welcome and comfortable. They seemed to consider all the little things that make the stay very special -- like bug repellent, a step stool in the bathroom, and extra large towels specifically for the hot tub. There were even some very funny jokes in the room's guest information guide. I had a good chuckle over those, and these thoughtful suprises made the stay feel very luxurious. It is clear that the hosts really care about making your stay personal and memorable, and this is the essence of a great BNB experience. There was a problem with our booking -- I should clarify that I think the problem was me, and that I did not fully complete the online booking process -- so we were essentially turning up unexpected, which can be a problem with small accommodation operators. The room we wanted was not available, but in spite of this little hitch, everything turned out fine. We stayed in the Mesa Verde room. The bed was large and comfy with soft sheets and lots of pillows. The breakfast was great -- belgian waffles, strawberries, sausage, yogurt, coffee, juice -- very filling and tasty. The lodge is as close to Mesa Verde as you can get, and the little town of Mancos is charming and has all the services you need including a small grocery, gas station, liquor store and restaurants. I wish we would have stayed more than one night as this would make an excellent base for exploring the area.
