My husband and I have enjoyed a nearly annual trip to Asheville to visit friends and the Biltmore Estate, and especially enjoy the Montford B&B's. The Lion & Rose is in a convenient location and the gardens are highly impressive compared to many Asheville B&B's. The owners were gracious, and sizable breakfast was worth its weight in gold! We would both highly recommend The Lion & Rose as a perfect taste of Asheville.

Our room was nice. The breakfasts were large and tasty. Jim and Linda were friendly and made good restaurant suggestions. The best part about this inn is its convenience to everything we wanted to do in Asheville! We recommend the Lion and the Rose as a great "home base" for anyone touring the Biltmore House and shopping/dining/touring Asheville. The visitor center is within walking distance!

Used the B&B as a base to visit Biltmore. Great Jamaican style restaurant just down the road. Rooms a little smaller than expected. Nice historic district.

Lion and the Rose embraced us in the most wonderful way! Our room was large, yet cozy, with a gas fireplace and most comfortable king bed. Our hosts provided cheerful and gracious service, with a very generous breakfast in a wonderfully appointed and elegant dining room. We are eager to return, next time bringing family and friends to share in this terrific Five-Star experience. Edgar F. Heiskell, III, Charleston, W.Va.

My husband and I stayed at the Inn in February, 2009. We have stayed in many bed and breakfasts, and this Inn exceeded our expectations! Jimmy and Linda gave us wonderful recommendations for local restaurants, and Jimmy's breakfasts were beautifully presented and yummy!!! The Inn is immaculate and beautifully decorated--a great value, and we highly recommend it!

We stayed at the Lion and The Rose for the first time this past weekend. We were hesitant to stay at another B&B since our first B&B experience was far less than desirable. However, this was a wonderful experience for us. The owners, Jim and Linda, greeted us at the door and gave us a quick tour. The house is well-decorated and impeccably clean. Our room, Fannie Rice, was clean, well-kept and decorated very nicely. The bed was comfortable and had nice linens. Our room also had a DVD player and the owners had a good selection of DVDs that were all available for guest use. There are also Asheville-area brochures for things to do, as well as games and playing cards for guest use. Another nice touch is that they also have this one room stocked with goodies, snacks, sodas, bottled water, port, sherry as well as wine glasses and corkscrews. This was greatly appreciated when we wanted to enjoy a bottle of wine in the rock garden at sunset as we had the glasses and corkscrew available. As for breakfast – our compliments to the chef (Jim)! Not only are you served breakfast on fine china, but the food is gourmet. Jim’s menu consisted of a grapefruit half, sausage and then “Hummingbird Pancakes”, which was a new recipe he was trying out. It was superb! Basically pancakes with pineapple and coconut and some type of creamy-sauce topping. Jim and Linda definitely run a superb operation, and they were absolutely accommodating in every way. We will definitely be staying there again.

I just wanted to tell you how perfect our stay at this beautiful B & B was in early May 2008. Their hospitality is unmatched, the accomodations impeccable. Not only were the rooms and the common areas immaculately prepared, but the little touches like the 24/7 access to snacks, coffee, etc were unexpected and much appreciated. Add to that the personal coffee service to the rooms each morning, the very attentive staff, free wi-fi, and I can't think of a place I'd more likely return to. If we're ever in the area again, we will definitely stay at the Lion & Rose, and I'll recommend the same to any friends who are considering a trip their way.

My husband and I choose the Lion and the Rose for our honeymoon accommodations. We had privacy and luxury in the Craig-Toms Suite, enjoyed wonderful breakfasts interesting conversations with other guests at breakfast, and like our hosts and the B&B staff very much. Somehow, they created the perfect combination of warm hospitality and space. Asheville and the mountains - beautiful and deeply engaging. We recommend this highly!
