My wife and I were celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary.I prepaid as requested and I was looking forward to an incredible time. As I pulled into the assigned parking lot there were junk piles everywhere and the area was not well kept. From barrels to tools and everything in between – I was looking at a bad garage sale. Our room was tired and worn. The ceiling fan over the bed was filled with cobwebs and the beautiful hardwood floors needed a good sweeping. The fireplace glass was so fogged; I found it distracting to even look at the gas fireplace which apparently was designed to warm the room but the room was freezing. The bathroom sink was a problem as well. Not only do the handles just spin and turn the water on in an opposite direction, but the sink was covered with little particles. I was not able to identify the particles but they were even in the drinking glass sitting on the ledge. The bed was bad news too. The pillows were worn out looking and the bedspread was also not very attractive. Underneath the bedspread and the sheet, (which had a three inch tear) there was actually a plastic bed liner. Plastic! I am not sure how anyone could sleep on the crinkling, crunching, plastic liner but maybe if the bed was in better shape there would not have to be a 2” memory foam pad hidden under the crinkling liner. After a miserable night of sleep because of the lousy bed and lack of heat, I was anxious to take a shower. I had a terrible time adjusting the temperature and the shower pressure was so strong, it was painful when it hit my skin Following breakfast, I strolled into the kitchen area and there was clutter on every surface and sitting next to the counter, there was a pair of Dr. Scholl inserts sitting on the top of a box. These were in the kitchen, NEXT to the counter areas. There was clutter in every area of this kitchen. I was very disappointed in our experience and I requested a refund which was denied. I do not recommend this facility!

We stayed at the Pitney House for Valentine's weekend and enjoyed it very much. We had a room in the main house. It was very romantic and cozy which was what we were looking for rather than staying in a cookie cutter casino. The breakfast was very good and the innkeeper was very helpful with local siteseeing. Very well worth the money. We plan to go back very soon.

As of a couple of weeks ago the thought of a B & B were out of the question. But a couple of weeks ago my girlfriend and I thought of giving our relationship another chance after recently breaking up for a few months. We had an 8 year relationship together until our break up but this is what we both needed, a memory filled weekend. Which is exactly what we received at the Dr Jonathan Pitney House. We were greeted by the owner, Don Kelly. Don proceeded to take the extra time to not only show us the room but a little history about this house built in 1799. The room was exactly what I had pictured in my mind (I viewed the room on-line before our arrival) and my girlfriend was so pleased as well. We were very comfortable in the room for the evening and the following morning we enjoyed the breakfast which was personally cooked by Don that very morning. Overall the room, service and the Innkeeper was above my expectations. My girlfriend has done nothing but talk about our weekend and this B & B for days now. It was what we both needed and it is well worth the trip.

Historical Inn with a few typical Age related problems, but we'd stay there again. Inn keeper was very personable, so much so that we stayed at the breakfast table and talked for several hours. Inn is very close to and convenient access to Atlantic City. Inn keeper gave lots of valuable advice on where to go and what to avoid.
