My husband and I arrived very late in the evening, but Celeste left a key and personal welcome note for us at the door. The house is gorgeous - tall ceilings, clean, exquisite interior design, and so peaceful. We met Celeste the next morning for breakfast - incredible woman! Her background is food, wine and exercise. Extremely personable and extremely well-connected. She gave us her business card to drop at specific wineries and we drank for free all day! We stayed in the Roma Suite, which was much bigger than it looked in photos. I think next time we'll try the Carducci Suite! Wonderful, peaceful getaway.

Hospitality, Food, Wine & Fitness , it's about keeping it all in balance!Thank you for your review! We have added a few more wineries to the itinerary lists, plus our Napa Downtown tasting rooms have a new association "Buzz Downtown Napa" so guests can enjoy walking and tasting at our 19 tasting rooms each offering a special tasting complimentary or 2 for one. Visiting the wineries is great, but now guests can spend one day just in Napa strolling from virtually vineyard to vineyard. Happy Valentines!

My wife and I stayed at this Inn from 10/10 - 10/16/09 and were very happy with our stay. The Inn's owner, Celeste, is very knowledgeable about the wine industry and has personal relationships with many wineries in the Napa and Sonoma valleys therefore we were able to save several tasting fees. Her daily breakfasts were delicious and her interactions with her guests during nightly wine socials helped us plan for our outings the next day. We will definitely return to this Inn in the future, as the personal attention and advice Celeste provides cannot be replicated in other hotels and Inns.

I know this is a bit after the fact -- we stayed here for our 28th (or 27th?, lost count) wedding anniversary back in November of 2008. Even though I tripped coming down the stairs ( I'm not very graceful) and made a 'grand' entrance to the welcome hour, we had a GREAT time. Celeste is unbelievable and this place is fantastic for a romantic get a way. The in-room double massage probably accounted for the rubbery legs on the staircase! We have traveled parts of Europe and South America and this place ranks up there with the best. We'll be back for sure.

Where does one begin. Celeste is a very personable person who is very willing to help wirh any facet regarding your trip at any of the many wineries. I could go on and on about all the nice things my wife experianced. But with all reviews I read, I think people have already summed up on how well Celeste done putting a great BB together. This is a place I would not having problem coming back every year. Celeste, I want to personally thank you and Bruce for a wonderful time. Good luck to you guys and continued sucess.

Thank you very much, we certainly enjoy our guests and truly appreciate your acknowledgment of our service.I guess, I look at it as a guest myself. If I were visiting a wine country for the first time and there were 400+ wineries within 26 miles, I would look for some guidance, in addition to value. We have been in Napa for 23 years, and while being in the hospitality industry we have made a lot of connections along the way.Why not share! The B&B and tasting salon Uncorked at Oxbow, go hand in hand. Our guests enjoy the close walking distance from the B&B to the Oxbow area, which is truly an up and coming area as you while visiting the tasting salon. Come back again, we have new things on the "plate". Cheers!

Dear Guest, thanks you for your positive review, and yes next time you need to stay a bit longer. The average stay in the Valley is 2-3 days, and as you may know we are also very close in proximity to the Carneros region, known for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and 15 minutes from lower Sonoma. Next time you will have to visit and meet my connections there! Cheers!

My husband and I stayed at this charming B&B July '09, while in Napa for the Napa-to-Sonoma Half marathon. Celeste is a wonderful hostess and fantastic cook! If you love French toast, she ranks in the top two we've ever had! When you step through the front doors, you are transported to an era of parlors, sitting rooms, spiral staircases and hardwood floors. Don't look for a flat screen or mini-bar. Instead, enjoy the sounds of smooth jazz and classical music while sipping a glass of her very own wine. We'll return next year! Enjoy your stay!

Thank you for your great comments, it is truly a joy to know how guests really appreciate all that goes into the hospitality and hosting and blending people from around the world. I really enjoyed hosting you both, as we very much relate to the running world. I was sorry to have missed this race, but the training miles were thrown off a bit as you know, opening Uncorked at Oxbow in June...etc. Next year you can count on me running, but try and come and visit before! Cheers! Celeste

We are nit-picky. Celeste is very nice and helpful. She has many wine connections, and can offer discounts, insight, tips, and knowledge about wine and area restaurants. She and Bruce have their own winery, and you get free tastings through Celeste. They hosted a 6pm wine reception the night we stayed. They served not one bottle of their own wine. The dirty glasses and leftover food were still sitting around in the morning. Breakfast was OK, food was good, but the serving was not clear. It was unclear when the first plate came out if that was all or if there was more. Dishes were not explained. We were told coffee would be available at 8, it wasn't till closer to 9. Please note that coffee is important to us (I roast my own beans) We stayed in the Puccini suite. The bathroom was in the room but down a couple steps. There was no place to put any of your toiletry items. Hand towels were on a towel bar, away from the sink, bath towels were folded and far away from the shower with no place to put them near the shower. The towels were in poor condition. I prefer them nice, large and fluffy. The room was spacious and clean. The furniture should be re-arranged. There were two comfortable chairs, they were not placed well for conversation. No bedside tables, nowhere to put your things. Beautiful looking, not at all practical. Some other B&B's we've stayed at provide more of a feeling of a home than the McClelland-Priest B&B. It's not a bad place to stay, just not the best.

Innkeeper Response
Dear Guests, thank you for your many suggestions, yes a bit nit picky but good input. The evening reception usually is from 6-7:15 pm and then guests stroll to their dinner reservations. If guests are enjoying their time and stay longer we try and accommodate and refill the wines not to rush them.Sorry for the inconvenience on the coffee, I understand there are very early risers and we try and have the coffee out early and reception cleared very early if not the night prior. Wish you could have brought your suggestions forth on the Puccini Suite prior to your departure, there is much history on the room and the step down bathroom..etc. Perhaps I could have switched your room or tried to make it more practical for your stay.We do have many tables and sitting areas in our rooms, and they are spacious, but please understand we are not a hotel with room standardization. We try and make all of our guests rooms different, but I will consider your suggestions. One correction, Bruce and I do not own a winery, we have vineyards and we showcase our line of wines at our newly opened tasting salon Uncorked at Oxbow. These wines are not reception type wines, they are more complex and food style wines. From time to time, I do feature the Ahnfeldt Sauvignon Blanc at the B&B . I have many wineries that I work with as you did experience with all the connections and comp tasting fees ,so yes I like to feature a variety of their wines at the B&B and promote others than ourselves. Bruce and I welcome all of our guests to come to the tasting salon and enjoy a comp ($30 value per person) tasting, and enjoy the entire flight of wines.Usually guests leave feeling like part of the family, if guests stay for one night, that may be difficult because they are trying to pack in a lot in one day.Sorry we weren't your best select but good input. Sincerely, Celeste

I stayed at the McClelland Priest during my honeymoon and my wife and I could not have had a better time. Celeste the owner did a great job at guiding us in the right direction to visit the right wineries as well as helping us to get complimentary tastings. The house was built in the 1800's and kept in original condition. I would recommend anyone who wants to take a trip to Napa to stay at the McClelland-Priest bed and breakfast. Thanks Matt

My boyfriend and I live in Sacramento, and I surprised him with a short overnight trip to Napa for his birthday. The welcome packet had loads of info and valuable coupons. Our room was comfortable and clean, no complaints there! Celeste was a charming and informative hostess. Her dinner recommendation was fantastic, we loved the wine-tasting happy hour, and breakfast was absolutely delicious. She has even re-inspired me to train for my second half-marathon this summer :) Thanks, Celeste, we will be back soon- One night wasn't enough!

Hi My guests from Sacramento! Yes we had a great time, wish you could have stayed longer but as I mentioned you will need to come back for at least 2 nights, there are about 4 different itineraries with wineries that offer amazing tastings so you will need at least an extra day to visit and meet the owners. I am very glad you enjoyed yourself and I wanted you to know that there is a great race in your area. It is called the 14th Annual Helen Klein Running Classic on Oct. 31st 2009. Talk about inspiration, Helen is 80+ years and still running! I am thinking about doing it , and it begins in Granite Bay.The contact info is Helen or Norman Klein 916-859-0821. Have a great weekend, Cheers! Celeste

We stayed for only one night, which was not enough to fully enjoy the charm and uniqueness of this place...! I rented two room for me (and my girlfriend) and my parents who visited from Europe. They loved it. We also enjoyed the social events offered: while having appetizers and wine, we were able to converse with other guests from all over the states, all over the world. The breakfast was exquisit, the host and owner Celeste was great and very helpful planning our visit. I am looking forward to come back!

My husband and I had a great time! Celeste was very helpful with everything from winery recommendations and tasting fee discounts/free tastings to dinner recommendations to a running route that had us going through vineyards. The breakfasts were outstanding and included things like pear in red wine reduction, French toast with blueberries, egg strada with chiles and topped with fresh salsa. The evening wine tastings were also fun to meet other guests and chat. One of the wine tastings was even done by someone from Rubicon (Francis Coppola's vineyard). This is the only B&B I have stayed in where I had access to free weights - there's a little weight room on an enclosed porch, so you can do a dumbell workout with a pleasant view. If we ever get back to Napa we will stay here again.
