My wife and I just finished a lovely night's stay at this inn, 8/29, and had one of the greatest getaways we've ever had. Our tradition has been to go somewhere away from home and B&B places have usually been our destination. this one is as good as any we've enjoyed. if you need the bright lights and lots of action, don't go here, as you'll just tick me and the other guests off. this is a sublime place for quiet, reflection, meditation, and enjoying a great night's sleep topped off by a breakfast to die for. we got spinach quiche with bacon and skipped lunch on the way home, we were so full. Bille is a warm and entertaining hostess with detailed knowledge of the area. let her make reservations at the Grand Central for dinner for you, you'll love that experience as well. of course, there's also the Prairie Preserve and the charm of Cottonwood Falls. by all means, stay awhile at the Stone House.

I spent my early years in the Flint Hills area. The summer smells of the tall grass, the damp smell under the heavy foliage all reminded me of my youth and simpler times. We celebrated our 46th anniversary at the Stonehouse B&B. It is well kept and very well run by the innkeepers, Billie and Joe. The Wilhemenia room has a fabulous bath with stone tile double shower. Billie scheduled dinner reservations at a popular fine restaurant in Cottonwood Falls. We had tried on several occasions previous to this trip to get reservations on our own and had failed. Next time we stay, we will spend more time leisurely travelling the very well-kept walking trail to the pond and the river. The farm house dog was a good guide.

Two night stay while visiting the Tall Grass Preserve. Very nice accomodations and property. Well maintained trails to pond made for a nice walk and most enjoyable time sitting on the pond bench observing the turtles and birds. Recommended.

We had a gift certificate from our kids for Christmas 2008 - they had been there 12/31/07-1/1/08 for an over night stay and loved it and knew we would love it too......and they were right.....what a peaceful place! We took an early morning walk with Chase the dog....he led the way....then came back to sausage gravy on the best biscuits ever! This is a great get away place as there is much to see and do in the area such as the Tallgrass National Prairie Preserve. Thanks for the great time!

We found your B&B quite beautiful and what a relaxing environment! The grounds were beautiful and the inside of the old stone house was very charming! Our group of six had the 2nd floor and each room was beautifully furnished ... the bedding was so relaxing it was hard to get up each morning. But the smells from the kitchen made us want to go downstairs and am glad we did because breakfast each morning, made by Billie, provided was second to none! Billie was a great hostess, answered all our questions and was very hospitable. The cookies she baked each day were excellent...the chocolate chip were my favorite!

I am a repeat customer. I've stayed at the Stonehouse 4-5 times in the past 12 months after "discovering" it early last year. Billie is an excellent innkeeper. She is also very personable, and facilitates getting acquainted with the other guests, especially at breakfast time. Anytime I plan to be in that part of the Flint Hills, that is where I will stay.

The Prairie Flower Suite is amazing! We really enjoyed the walking paths and swing by the large pond. Cottonwood Falls and the 1874 Stonehouse have unique historical value and personality. As my girlfriend and I, during the holiday season, hadn't had much quality time together, I decided that my gift to her would be a weekend trip away just the two of us. I decided upon the 1874 Stonehouse due to its charm of the natural, rural setting as well as the historical value of the facility. I was not disappointed!!! As it turned out, we were the only ones there that weekend and had an absolutely fantastic time. Billie was most gracious and one of her dogs gave us a guided tour of the property. The room, in fact, the entire property, had a rustic feel of home that I haven't experienced before at other B&Bs. While we went in the winter for a cozy, mostly indoor, stay, we are looking to return in the late spring to see all the green. Highly recommended!

My wife and I plus our eight children stayed here for a Christmas getaway and as much as I loved it the kids loved it more and have talked so much about going back. We had the entire place to ourselves and Billie and Joe became became part of the family. The whole area has so much history preserved it was a fun learning experience for all of us.

This was our first B&B and it was great! Billie was awesome and so easy to talk to. She told us the places we should visit while we were there and could answer any question you had. It was so peaceful, quiet and relaxing. In the evening we went out and sat on the patio and listened to the waterfall and watched the coy fish. The breakfast the next morning was great. We walked the nature trail before we left just to keep enjoying the tranquil moment. Thanks again Billie!!

Arrived with another couple in the early evening. Was warmly invited with coffee and cookies and nice fire in a stone fireplace. Room was very nice with all the luxury amenities. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. The stone farmhouse is really neat and grounds worth exploring. We will return.

We stayed here on Monday, March 17, 2008. This was the first stay at a true Bed and Breakfast for my wife and I. We, along with another couple stayed here on our way to Kansas City. It had rained a couple of inches during the day and it was wet and chilly outside. When we walked in, there was Billie (hostess) lighting a cozy fire in the entry room which also contained a couple of couches and a small table. We unloaded into our rooms and planted ourselves in front of the fire for the next couple of hours. We enjoyed the coffees, teas and wonderful cookies while we visited and played games. there was another larger sitting area with couches, a flat screen tv, satellite and even wireless Internet. We didn't spend any time in that room. There are four guest rooms and we occupied the larger two rooms. The other two were empty that evening. The rooms were very homey and comfortable. They were very clean including the bathroom and the beds were feather pillow top and better than any hotel I've ever stayed in. The next morning we woke to a wonderful breakfast of eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, juice and coffee. Billie served an all you care to eat breakfast that was simply marvelous meeting my expectations completely. As we began to eat, she pulled up a chair and sat and visited with us for the next hour or so. We learned some interesting things about the house and property, enjoyed some laughs, and met her two friendly dogs. After breakfast we tried to walk the 60 acres a bit, but the soaking rain from the day before restricted our access. As we drove away, we started making plans to go back with more friends and spend a couple of days away from the busyness of life. We want to go sit by the pond, fish, check out the wildlife and enjoy a simpler life for a couple of days. You need to spend some time here with Billie, her house and the land to get away from it all!

On March 29,'07 we will be returing to the Stonehouse for our fourth stay. We love the Stonehouse, the wonderful care we receive from Innkeepers Billie and Joe. We especially look forward to celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversay at the Stonehouse, where we celebrated our wedding night. Cottonwood Falls is such a contrast to our home in Seal Beach CA . . long journey to Kansas but sure worth it. We find magic in Cottonwood Falls and the Stonehouse. Got a fishing pole from my husband for Valentine's Day, will do some catch and release in the pond while waiting for the Canadian Geese to return to nest in that old tree stump that sits in the pond.
