I was attracted to Azalea House by the "CUrb Appeal" of it's two-story photo, and the reasonable room rates for a Bed and Breakfast. It was a short 30 minute trip to enjoy St. Augustine. We stayed two nights and overall our visit provided the necessary opportunity to "get away" that my wife and I needed. As my ratings show, almost everything "met our expectations". Doug was an interactive host - which we liked, but our brief encounter with Jill was un-inspiring. I guess we were expecting a smile and an enthusiastic hello which simply did not occur. Breakfast was extremely disappointing. The web site says that a "delectable" breakfast would await us prepared by an "accomplished pastry chef". We received a continental breakfast of fruit, bread, juice and coffee. My wife and I simply sat and stared in disbelief. In our previous Bed and Breakfast experiences, a home-cooked warm breakfast has always been one of the highlights! We nibbled politely and then enjoyed our day. That evening when Jill greeted us before we turned in, she asked us if we even wanted breakfast the next morning. (Obviously the fact that we barely touched the continental breakfast was apparent.) I held back my irritation, and then I told her "no, we don't want breakfast." Anyway, we work hard not be offensive, so I will conclude with this: the overall experience was adequate, but there is so much more un-tapped potential available with the Azalea House.

We have stayed with Jill and Doug on more than one occasion. Couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay...like home without all the work! And Jill is a wonderful cook.
