We usually stay in hotels when we go places, but decided against it this time. We stayed in the Rose room. Everything was better than we could have hoped for. The innkeepers were very friendly. The breakfast was delicious. This house is jusy awesome! I have never been in such a nice house. We wanted to go to the Outer Banks, but didnt want to pay the price to stay there. This was well worth the price. We will definately go back!

In April, my fiance' and I booked and paid for the carriage house for our Oct wedding. We knew we would have wedding guests staying in the main house and we wanted our privacy so the carriage house was perfect! 7 weeks prior to our wedding, we received a call that the carriage house was no longer available-no explanation why, just "it's no longer available". They did offer to move us into the main house which was not acceptable to us. When I explained that we just wanted our money back they promptly refunded our money but never did they try to right the wrong. With 7 weeks left to our wedding this was the LAST thing I needed. Elizabeth City is a small town w/ not a lot of options for lodging. Just a heads-up!

Innkeeper Response
While we do our very bet to accommodate our guest, there will also be situations that are beyond our control. We will always give the guest options of moving to the best room we have available or refunding their money. I am sorry we could not find a better solution for the bride. I know she was disappointed - we all were.

We had a wonderful stay at The Culpepper Inn. The inn keepers, Kathryn and Gary, were very gracious and friendly. We felt very"at home" in their beautiful home. Breakfast was delicious. Kathryn is quite a cook! We especially liked the option of a little later breakfast time, 9:00am...we are not early risers. Who wants to get up early on vacation? If you're looking for a warm, congenial atmosphere within walking distance of charming downtown Elizabeth City,NC..The Culpepper is the place! We are returning! CK Greensboro,NC

My entire family (22 of us?) booked the Culpepper Inn for a reunion and a wedding. Catherine, the innkeeper and her husband, took such great care of us. We had staggered breakfast times, wine and cheese (at no charge) snacks and all the support those two could give us with directions, extra towels, floats for the pool, you name it! I wish I could go back tomorrow! Thanks so much! Teresa Miska, St. Augustine, FL

We had our family reunion surrounding my daughter's wedding in June of '09. The Culpepper Inn hosted the site of the reunion. It was comfortable, clean and conveniently located. It's a beautiful neighborhood and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

The hosts were incredibly accommodating, from special diets & breakfast times to computer assistance and restaurant recommendations. The breakfast was delicious. The rooms in the main house are gorgeous, and the rooms in the annex are a deal for tighter budgets. Rooms had TV, fridge & microwave. Common area, the Tavern Room, has a wide-screen TV, dining space & bar. Loved being able to walk to town, past all the gorgeous old houses. Wine & cheese in the afternoon helped us wind down after each busy day. Will definitely stay here again.

This Bed and Breakfast was beautiful and the rooms were clean and outstanding. The owners went out of their way every day to make sure we were comfortable. They even catered to our dietary restrictions, every morning! Our stay was wonderful and we highly recommend staying here.

Not only the accommodations beautiful, but the inn keepers, Jim and Bonnie, are wonderful people. The first thing that struck me about the Culpepper Inn was how large the property seemed from the outside, yet inside feels so warm and cozy. I felt like I was at my own home. The style and design of the inn is Victorian, and Bonnie decorated herself. Very authentic!!! The rooms are a nice size and each room has its own theme. We stayed in the Lavender Room - so calm and peaceful. Bonnie and Jim cook breakfast in the morning. On the first morning, we had homemade quiche with an assortment of pastries and frozen fruit sorbet packed with fresh fruit. On the second morning, we had German pancakes with fried apples and turkey bacon. GREAT!!!!!!!! I would recommend the Culpepper Inn over and over again to anyone visiting the Elizabeth City area!
