This is the third time we have stayed in the Lambertville area. We had previously stayed at the Woolverton Inn, but they were booked for the weekend we wanted to get away. Based on reviews of Chimney Hill, we decided to give them a try.
Upon our arrival, we were made to feel very welcome. The great part of the main house was what my wife and I referred to as the "Stone Room". A room with windows and large french doors, and a wood-burning fireplace, and the most comfortable leather loveseats, perfect for the wine and cheese, or just sitting there and relaxing. Guests were friendly and willing to talk, which only enhanced the experience.
Our room was a Barn suite, with fireplace, jacuzzi and a bedroom loft. The loft took some getting used to (spiral staircase), but after the first couple of times up and down, it became natural. The jacuzzi was very nice. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept very well. The only complaints about the room were the pillows were very flat, so we had to double up, and the wall air conditioner made some very loud noises at 3AM on our last night, which woke us up, so we had to turn it off.
Breakfast each morning was excellent, which consisted of a baked sweet bread, a fruit dish of some kind, and a main course. Service was pleasant and efficient, and they catered to special diets, or if you didn't like what they were serving, they were willing to make you scrambled eggs, the "meat of the day" and toast, which was a nice touch compared to other B&Bs, where if you didn't like what they were serving, you ended up with cold cereal.
I would definitely stay at Chimney Hill again, primarily for how comfortable we were made to feel there and the breakfast. We would probably try another room that had more charm, rather than sheer size. View Reviewer Info

My task was enormous, I had to find a place which would express the love I felt for this woman, a place of beauty, serenity, kindness, and elegance. Somewhere I would feel comfortable telling her I was made for her, a place that would inspire me and show her how much she meant to me. I knew that Chimney Hill Estate was the perfect place from the first picture I saw on their web site. What I hadn't counted on was the fantastic ambiance offered by Terry and her staff. I can only define Terry as a Classy lady, with a fantastic heart and soul, that is present in every aspect of Chimney Hill Estates. If you are looking for a place to fall in love, re-kindle romance, let your better half know how much you appreciate her, you will not find a more appropriate atmosphere. Terry....you helped me find my love.
Thank You !!

Arriving on a beautiful day in Spring, we were impressed by the grounds, beautiful flowers and a wonderful flower garden. Our room was a delight - being ahead of the real tourist season, we had the whole main house to ourselves. Sat outside and had a "libation" before going into New Hope for dinner and a play. Arriving back, we sat in the "Stone Room" and had a chit chat. Our room was lovely, comfortable and peaceful. Breakfast the next day, prepared by Eric, was so substantial, we really wanted to skip lunch! Do we recommend? We certainly do! A&J, Little Egg Harbor, NJ View Reviewer Info

We have stayed in a number of similar inns. Chimney Hill was physically lovely, as expected - the house and common areas, and the alpacas/llamas are cute. However, the service and management were jarring.
We stayed in the main house (room 1) for two nights. On both mornings we were woken in an unwelcome manner. On the first morning our clock radio went off at 6:40am. In addition, classic rock began to blare downstairs about an hour before breakfast. Initially we thought it was Saturday morning workmen, but we went down to discover that it was the breakfast music. The manager did turn the music down. She blamed the other staff member for the alarm clock and did not offer any apology.
On the second morning the music was more bland but was just as loud and without charm. We also overheard the manager informing her fellow staff member that if guests showed up even 10 minutes late, they would get no breakfast. This was quite unnecessary for us to hear.
There was an apparent blood stain on the door sill to the bathroom.
On the positive side, the house is lovely. Other than a few tacky tchotchkes and a separate bathroom, we were satisfied with the room.
We suspect that the place was once owner-operated, but that it's now under management by less attentive third parties. Finally - if the above flaws are repaired, Chimney Hill would still be on the expensive side. View Reviewer Info

Thank you for your thoughts.
Chimney Hill Estate is a very historic property 1820-1927 and we chose to honor the building construction as it is a Margaret Spencer home ( the first women MIT/architect in the US).
Many of our guests find the home charming and appealing in it's natural state. There are many rooms with bathrooms within the rooms, this is your choice when making the reservation.
Music:
We play various artist for our music selection. Some contemporary and some sentimental. Everyone enjoys different types of music and therefore choose to play music selections by wonderful artists.
Breakfast:
All guests are served breakfast every morning. We sometimes call their room to make sure they are awake and have offered breakfast to their room if they prefer. I have not heard of a guest refused breakfast, I am certain I would hear about this from the guest.
Chimney Hill Ownership:
Chimney Hill is Owner Operated by Terry and Rich Anderson since 1994, so your comment and assumption about third party is an invalid assumption.
Please ask our staff if you have a question or are displeased with something during your stay . We are always happy to assist you through out your stay.
Thank you,
Terry Anderson

Thank you for taking the time to place a review.
It is our greatest desire that every guest has wonderful experience during their visit at our home and so to enhance their experience by adding extra amenities for their pleasures; wine and cheese, a butler pantry filled with cookies, sherry, beverages anytime.
Friday and Saturday we offer wine and cheese for 2 hours during the check in period. This is prepared for our guests to enjoy when they arrive as a relaxation amenity since they are weary from their travels. Many weekends this turns into quite the social spot, other times it may be rather quiet as some guests arrive and choose to go into town to start their weekend getaways plans.
We as Innkeepers are away from the Inn on some weekends as we have family, grand kids, parents to visit for special occasions, and sometimes even take weekend off for us.
Our Innkeepers work hard to make guests feel at home and try to get folks off to an enjoyable weekend stay relaxing or visiting our wonderful Lambertville and New Hope areas.
We hope you will visit us again and we will have a chance to meet you next time.
Warm Regards,
Terry Anderson

This was an experience which exceeded my expectations. We had only a week to book and this was one of the only rooms in town so we took it and hoped for the best. It was a stone's throw from all of the action in Lambertville. In fact, every other Inn I looked at during my trip was in too busy a location, and just not as luxurious as Chimney Hill. The setting is bucolic. Ambience, ambience on the quiet hillside. Host Terry was working for us before we even arrived, setting up my dinner reservations before we arrived, (which included assuring that my handicapped mom could access the restaurant) and an emphatic "no problem" when we were arriving later than check-in time. We stayed in the barn room suite, which was rustic-luxurious (all new but with a distinctly historic patina). From our private patio we could enjoy Terry's Alpaca's and other wildlife. The Inn was booked but felt completely private. The place itself is simply gorgeous. We enjoyed the Main House, sitting by the fire, drinking coffee and reading the daily newpapers and the area restaurant menus laid out by Terry. The breakfasts themselves were sinful. A banana french toast strudel, fresh fruit, delicious sausage, banana's & cream (sprinkled with nuts and raisins) and an egg souffle were superb. The coffee was delicious and hot.
The beds, linens and pillows were comfortable. The three-shower head shower was great. The only suggestion for improvement would be to upgrade to a "heavenly" bed concept for the extreme in luxury, with feather beds and comforters. However, the mattress was topped with a feather topper so it was still quite nice.
I will never look for another place in the New Hope/Lamberville area to stay. Chimney Hill is the kind of place you don't just want to stay, you want to develop a relationship with it! I miss it already. View Reviewer Info
