What a gem.....this mansion has been lovingly restored and is a peaceful retreat during my visit to Seattle. Great location in beautiful tree lined neighborhood. The rooms are all impecible, beds are sooooo comfy and the bathrooms devine. Brenda and Glenn are great hosts and are a reflection of true "Southern Hospitality" in the Pacific NW. Thank you a delightful stay. A return trip is guaranteed !!

The SB Mansion was a great spot for family to gather for the wedding. The location was beautiful and there was plenty of room. Any room problems were taken care of promptly. The plumbing in the Master Suite bathroom (shower) was unique to see, but not so user friendly. If the old plumbing could be left in place to see, but more modern controls put inside the shower, it would be a great improvement. The breakfast was fine for the first few days, but I think on the weekends it would be a nice touch to have scrambled eggs and bacon or a waffle maker, just to break up the routine. Brenda and Glen do a good job of welcoming you and answering any questions. We enjoyed our visit...thanks

My parents and I enjoyed our two-night stay in the SB Mansion very much. It is located in a quieter part of Seattle, a bit off of the regular tourist trail. With a number of other beautiful houses nearby, the SB Mansion also offers access to several restaurants and coffee shops. Volunteer Park -- one block away -- is a nice place to spend a summer afternoon; the Conservatory in the park is outstanding. SB Mansion itself is full of great amenities with the feel that much work has gone into its restoration. It provides a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, while retaining its historical charm without pretense. Ana (one of the owners) is an easy-going and friendly person, who is truly interested in all of her guests' backgrounds, and who is helpful in providing information about the neighborhood. She has a gift for what she has chosen to do, which is nice to see. We found the breakfast to be superb with a variety of cheeses, prosciutto, smoked salmon, pastries, good coffee, cereals, and fresh fruit (prepared and replenished throughout the morning so that guests may conveniently serve themselves to eat around a large table in the dining room which receives a nice morning light). Overall, our stay was fantastic. I would highly recommend SB Mansion to anyone.

My wife and I spent weeks researching B&B's in Seattle and we decided on the Shafer Baillie Mansion after reading the reviews online and checking out their website. We have stayed in many different hotels and B&B's around the country, and I must say this is in the top two. The website does not do this place justice! The house itself is a sight to see. Exceptionally grand. It has been restored to perfect condition. The rooms are large and have top quality beds and sheets with big screen TV's and cable. The house is located in the best part of town which was originally called "Millionaire's Row". All of the surrounding streets are lined with beautiful grand homes. The house has huge rooms on the first floor for relaxing, reading or conversation. While they do not serve a "full" breakfast, the expanded continental is plentiful and delicious. More than enough to get you through until lunch. Parking is somewhat of a challenge in Seattle but if you're relying on public transportation (which I recommend), the bus stop is one block over and you can catch a bus to anywhere about every 15 minutes. The Shafer Baillie Mansion is an excellent value and is highly recommended.

We stayed here recently with our 15-year old son and were very impressed with the inn. Our room was on the recently renovated 3rd floor and it was readily apparent that they did a great job. Flat screen TV, comfortable beds, great linens - all the comforts of a fine room without sacrificing the atmosphere of a historic old home. The neighborhood is amazing with all of the other mansions and parking was never a problem (We have been to Seattle a number of times and parking can be extremely difficult in residential areas.) The staff was very helpful and gracious - helping with our luggage even when we arrived after our expected check-in time and providing breakfast before their normal start time. We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed for two nights with our two year-old son and were very pleased with the Shafer Baillie Mansion. The mansion ha lots of historic charm with updated, new amenities. Our room was on the newly renovated third floor, and was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the continental breakfast was fresh and tasty (all products were organic). Although traveling with a toddler can be a challenge, we felt very at home at the mansion, and would definitely stay again.

If you enjoy staying in historic B&B's you will be very pleased with the Shafer Baillie Mansion. The exterior draws you in, the decor is nicely appointed, the detailed woodwork throughout the home is incredible and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast offerings were ample and a walk around the surrounding neighborhood was a rare treat. No wonder they called it 'Millionaire's Row'. The best part of our stay was the welcome and service provided by our innkeepers - Brenda and Glen. Brenda has the right idea - "it's all about connecting with the guests". She is charming and a real 'People Pleaser'. Glen offered exceptional service that went above and beyond our expectations. A charming visit at a B&B we will certainly return to.

The entire SB mansion experience is amazing. The gardens, patio and overall Capitol Hill location are ideal. Our room Master Suite was luxurious -- the bed was so comfy, the decor was enchanting and the multi-spray shower was heavenly. The Innkeepers clearly are focused on the enjoyment of the guests and we were so welcomed and pampered. We're already planning our next trip so we can again enjoy the walks into the charming, creative Capitol Hill area and bask in the beauty of the SB oasis.

We had a wonderful weekend. The hostess was knowledgeable and had maps and directions to everywhere we wanted to go! The house is beautifully appointed with period pieces and our room was very comfortable. The area in which the mansion is located is perfect. Volunteer Park, Millionaire Row and the Capitol Hill District is wonderful for walking and exploring. A totally different Seattle. We had an excellent weekend and would go back.

This great Bed and Breakfast is located in a beautiful neighborhood just outside the city centre, it is only a 20 minutes’ walk to downtown Seattle. The area is very green, with the Volunteer Park and the Interlaken Park nearby. The Shafer Baillie Mansion is a very warm and brilliant house. The atmosphere is unique and the whole house is a combination of style, tradition, and comfort. The fact that we extended our stay 3 times says it all. We really felt at home and the owners are incredibly nice and helpful. On the one hand, they are always willing to help you, you can always have a talk with them, but on the other hand they give you your privacy. In sum, we have had a perfect time in the Shafer Baillie Mansion, we felt at home, and we will definitely come back. Moreover, we highly recommend it to our friends and relatives. All the best, Maurits van den Noort & Peggy Bosch

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mansion. I had a large family group (7) and it was our first visit to Seattle. Ana and her family were so friendly and kind to all of us, especially the children in the group. They have done and outstanding job renovating the home! Our only complaint is we didn't have enough time at the Inn. We hope to return for a much longer visit very soon!

Great location on Millionaire's Row, Capitol Hill, near beautiful Volunteer Park. Extraordinary renovation with amazing attention to detail. We loved the Master Suite, a super value given its size, huge TV, and amazing rib cage shower. I promise you've never experienced anything like it. Cordial innkeepers, too.
