My wife and I spent the weekend at Madewood celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary. We could not have had a better experience. The grounds and house are gorgeous. We were given free reign to explore every nook and cranny at our leisure. Nothing was out of bounds (except the rooms that were occupied with other guests) unlike every other plantation we visited that weekend. The staff is the most professional and gracious I have ever encountered. From Jennifer, who took our reservation and personally greeted us upon arrival, to Ms Alice, our personal, well informed tour guide, to the entire kitchen, housekeeping and maintenance staff. Our host (and Manager) Christine, was delightful. She hosted our dinner party with complete aplomb. If ever there was a lull in the conversation she skillfully nudged us into another lively discussion. Not that there were many lulls in the conversation considering the company. There was an author/photographer who was working on a project about antebellum homes, a real live movie star doing a big budget production in the New Orleans area (and his loveable pooch Gibson), a young stock broker and his young lady who works in a museum and of course our lovely hostess Christine. The dinner, the company, the beautiful Madewood and the entire weekend was unforgettable and my wife and I can't wait to get back there. View Reviewer Info
