I came with my sister for a girl's birthday weekend celebration. I cannot say enough WONDERFUL things about our stay at the Queen Anne! From the second we checked in, Mike immediately made us feel welcome, and there were many thoughtful touches throughout our stay. We loved the parlor party-we enjoyed our conversation with Mike so much- who is a gracious, interesting host- that the party "hour" turned into closer to 2 hours! (We loved his stories of local history.) The home is exquisitely appointed. The rooms are extremely inviting, and this is the first time I have stayed in a "hotel" bed where I woke up the next day and my cantankerous back felt better than it did sleeping in my own bed! The clawfoot bathtub was beautiful, and the room felt very private! (Plus, the added modern touch of satellite tv in-room is something hard to find at many hotels!) We spent the evening eating at one of the 2 EXCELLENT restaurants Mike recommended in the area. After coming home, we sat outside on the relaxing porch and played cards, and also met Anita, who is truly a delightful woman! (And checked email via wireless internet- another nice modern touch!) But the highlight was the next morning- I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel in my lifetime, and NEVER have I had a more gourmet or delicious breakfast while travelling! Mike could compete in "Top Chef- Breakfast Edition" and win, HANDS DOWN! :-) The food was unique, delicious, pleasing to the eye- and he and Anita's warm service and conversation during breakfast made us feel very pampered! (Oh, and the early morning coffee/tea carts were a great touch.) I cannot say enough about our experience at the Queen Anne- we would have added a 3rd night, we loved it so much, but they were booked! I guess we'll have to figure out another reason to have a girls' weekend back VERY SOON! I never want to stay at another "regular hotel" again... Thanks Mike and Anita for a truly memorable stay!

Not long ago, my husband and I decided to look for a bed and breakfast in Galena just for a one night getaway. First of all, we didn't know where to start because there are so many to chose from! We finally chose to stay at the Queen Anne guest house mainly because of the price. They had such a reasonable deal for one night on a weekday, we couldn't pass it up. The Innkeepers were wonderful, Mike gave us some really great conversation before dinner. The place was so immaculate and beautiful. We were the only guests at the time and never felt out of place or hurried to leave. Mike brought out hot tea at night before bed and fresh coffee right next to our room in the morning. He also cooked us a wonderful breakfast. We were so pleased to have a relaxing night away from our busy daily lives and will definitely suggest this bed and breakfast to anyone in the near future! Our stay was in November when it was just getting cold. The Inn was warm and cozy and comfortable. The inn Keepers were very friendly and were very knowledgeable about Galena and the surrounding history which added to our stay. The Inn was well kept and very clean. It did show signs of its age with setting cracks in some of the rooms. Over all we had a wonderful stay and would go back there in the future.

The food was delicious and not at all "cookie cutter" B&B food. Our room was very nice and I loved being able to take a nice, long bath in an old fashioned clawfoot tub! We just returned from a weekend at Queen Anne's in Galena. It was very comfortable and is VERY close to the main strip of shops, restaurants and bars in Galena. The rooms were very clean and nice. Not too overdone. Rooms were very private. The breakfast the first morning was great but perhaps not typical. We had fresh trout with asparagus and tomatoes. It was delicious and broadend my horizons on breakfast. The second day breakfast was a combination of eggs with asparagus and an english muffin topped with canadian bacon, fresh tomato, cheese, sauce and spices. It was phenomenal. We only went to Parlor Hour (5pm) the second day where they provided Broccoli Cheese soup, snacks and wine while we played a game with some of the guests. The hosts are very nice and approachable. We are a young couple 26 & 27 and were a bit uncertain about staying at a B&B instead of a hotel. I have to say the hosts were GREAT, and it was kind of like staying with a funny, easy going and warm hearted Aunt and Uncle. We also got along great with the other guests that were staying there that weekend. We will definately return and I would strongly recommend to first time B&B visitors.

This was our first stay at a B&B and we are so happy that we choose the Queen Anne. It was the perfect weekend. Mike and Anita are such wonderful hosts and their home is charming and comfortable. We felt right at home the minute we walked in the door. The Queen Anne is within walking distance to several great restaurants, the downtown shopping, and other things to do. We enjoyed our time to get to know the other guests as well as our hosts at the Parlor Party and breakfast, which I can’t stop raving about to friends and family. We come to Galena, IL at least once a year, usually in conjunction with the Country Fair which is held the second weekend in October. We have tried 8 B & B's in Galena so far. Even though several have been closer to Main Street in downtown Galena, none of them can match the location of the Queen Anne Guest House. (Galena is so very hilly that one invariably ends up driving from the B & B to downtown and back.) Driving and parking in Galena are two difficult propositions during the Country Fair. The last two years we have parked our car at the Queen Anne on Friday and left it there until we left on Sunday. The fair, main street shopping and restaurants are well within walking distance from the Queen Anne. Mike and Anita's breakfasts and parlor parties provide satisfying and tasty dishes and beverages, and the conversation is very pleasant.

The home is beautifully furnished with antiques throughout. Mike and Anita are very friendly and relaxed and wonderful hosts. During a late afternoon wine and treats break and also during breakfast they sat with the guests and prompted friendly and lively conversation. The food was delicious! The home is located within easy walking distance from downtown Galena, and is situated in a neighborhood of lovely homes with many large trees which made a leisurely walk very pleasant even on a very warm August day. Everyone needs to get away from their hometown ever so often, and when our internal compasses pointed to the east (from Iowa), we hopped in the car, deciding on a whim to visit the historical town of Galena. Intending to just spend the day there, we hadn't made reservations anywhere overnight and ended up calling different B&B's in the area to see if there were open rooms available. Much to our surprise Queen Anne was the last place we called, & the owner Mike invited us to his beautiful home to view his rooms. He gave us a brief tour and history of the home as we are lovers of history.We immediately felt comfortable and decided to stay the night.What we liked particularly about the QA is that it is in a quiet area, yet just a relatively short jaunt across a walking bridge leads one to the main street, where restaurants, shops and other attractions abound. When it was time for us to return to the Queen Anne for the evening, we felt as if we belonged there. We shared tea and viewed historical books which are normally set out on the coffee table. While enjoying the faux fireplace (all the benefits of the warm, glowing ambiance without the heat), we listened to old LP records and relaxed. After a romantic evening & a restful night on a comfy bed, we joined the other guests at the table for breakfast. The food was fresh, simple, and presented well. We enjoyed visiting with the others, as well as the owner Mike who was a charming and gracious host. I purchased the Queen Anne Guest House Cookbook and plan on trying some of the particularly delicious sounding dishes.All in all, our stay in Galena was a happy, fond one and one which we will always remember. A lot of our memorable moments were spent at the Queen Anne, and though we only spent one wonderful evening there, we do plan on returning soon!

Three couples on a wine tour decided to stay in Galena mid-trip. We certainly found the bed and breakfast to meet our expectations. Mike was friendly and very informative and willing to give us insights into the community etc. The rooms were comfortable and met our needs. As with any home, the water pressure fluctuated with the number of people showering but certainly not a major issue. Breakfast was great, delicious steamed pears and walnuts to start the day! The inn is slightly off the main downtown area and a short walk to the shopping, but just a 1 minute drive if you can find parking downtown. We have no complaints, although Mike the Innkeeper seems a bit preoccupied with his parrot!

The charm and comfort was exceeded only by the exquisite breakfasts and unforgetable companionship offered by the owners, Mike and Anita (as well as Nikki!). We would recommend a stay for all budgets and for those wanting peace, new experiences, and friendliness.

Although Jim had experienced a b&b before, this was my first experience. Our hosts Mike & Anita made our stay so enjoyable. We enjoyed the parlour party and breakfast with the other guests. Their home was charming. Service was wonderful. Breakfast was a real treat. We'll be back.

My husband and I spend two charming days with Mike and Anita at the Queen Anne. Rooms were lovely, with quality antiques and comfortable beds. Hosts were gracious and friendly; you become a part of their family when you visit. Helped us find points of interest in Galena and even dressed in Victorian costume! Loads of fun. PS Karaoke is contagious.
