Room was awesome. The fireplace with fan kept room toasty on the cold fall weekend we stayed. WE loved the whirlpool tub in the tower. The candles and cd player along with a library of cd s to choose from made it very romantic. Our innkeepers were great. We hadn't made reservation for Sat night and they had already reserved tables at various restaurants. Even when the one we wanted was taken they called around and swapped the reservation with another B&B. It was my husbands birthday and he was greated with a cake and balloon. All very nice touches. And most importantly, Don't miss breakfast. It is served hot as you arrive at the table and the french toast is to die for!!! Great weekend.

This was our first B&B and this will be the only one we choose in the Galena area. The hosts, Cheryl and Carmine made us feel at home and treated us like family. We stayed in Antonio's Cottage and it was great. large wirlpool tub for two, fireplace, kitchenette. It was all very cozy. The House is beautiful inside and out, these owners have a lot of pride in their B&B and it shows. My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary recently at Cloran Mansion. It was our first experience at a B&B and we couldn't have chosen a better place. Cheryl and Carmine were wonderful hosts and the breakfast feast they served each morning kept us full until dinnertime. If you want peace and quiet, this is the place to be. It's a few block out of town, away from the crowds and traffic. You can sit out in the gazebo or around the fireplace area and enjoy a book or pleasant conversation. The gardens are perfect for a small wedding. In fact, I think they will be hosting their 75th wedding at the mansion next month. The house itself is so quiet you hardly know anyone else is there. The rooms have all the amentities you could ask for. We wanted for nothing. We happened to stay in the Tower Room with its unique jacuzzi a floor above in the tower of the building. What a unique experience! If you are heading out to Galena, by all means consider staying at the Cloran Mansion if you want comfortable surroundings, fabulous food, a restful setting, and gracious hosts all within a few blocks of beautiful historic Galena!!

The pictures of the cottage were exactly what we experienced. Being a stone's throw from the mansion gave privacy but convenience to come and go freely without a long walk. We didn't use the fireplace but it would be a nice option especially in the winter months. The kitchenette worked well to hold those yummy leftovers! For those with disabilities, this would be excellent because of their attention to ADA guidelines. A walker or wheelchair could easily be used. We didn't bring a pet, but it's one of the few places that allow small animals! Free internet access in the main house was a nice option. We had massages in the cottages and that was an awesome treat! Breakfast was a real treat since all the food is mainly from local farms and is so fresh! Everything tasted wonderful and they were great at accomodating my husband's dietary needs. Cheryl and Carmine have done a lot to restore a beautiful 1880's home that would make the Cloran family proud!

If you've never stayed at a B&B before or even if you have this is one you definitely need to check out. The breakfast is hot, filling, and tasty. (You can skip lunch after this.) Carmine and Cheryl are great hosts. They're both very accommodating, friendly, sociable, and make you feel like family in a very short time. The rooms each have a quaint country charm and have a distinct individual personality. The jacuzzi/tub was great for relaxing after a day of hiking and shopping. Listening to the waterfall at the pond in the gazebo beat any of those CD with "relaxing" sounds. The fire pit was a great place to meet and get to know the other guests. Everyone we talked to told us how they keep coming back to the Cloran Mansion year after year because the place is that good. We hope to make it an annual event too. Not only was the mansion itself beautiful and well kept, but Cheryl and Carmine went above and beyond to make the stay warm and welcome. They ordered me flowers, made dinner reservations, bought us a bottle of wine, made a card, gave us a balloon, and supplied free soda and water. My wife and I have stayed at the Cloran Mansion twice, once for 4 nights and once for 5 nights. Both times we have been treated like family. Our hosts,Cheryl and Carmine, have gone out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at home. Their generous breakfasts are an excellent way to begin the day. We find ourselves not eating again until evening, when we generally find one of the quality restaurants in the area. Small details like coffee-makers in the rooms, stocked soft drinks and bottled water in the mini-fridges, outdoor fire-pit, gazebo and water garden, and an extensive DVD collection bring us back. We've stayed at many B&Bs. Cloran Mansion is at the top of the list.

Everything when smoothly at the Cloran Mansion. Easy to find. The hosts were so friendly, helpful and made us feel at home. There were many details that you would never get at a hotel for example freshly baked cookies as we arrived to the mansion. The breakfasts were also very tasty. The room was just as we had seen it on their website. Our room had a mini fridge for us to use for left over food or our own wine or drinks. It was also filled with complimentary cokes and water. The whirlpool was very large and comfortable. They had a large selection of dvds free of charge and even games to keep us entertained. We stayed at the Cloran because of the nice pictures we saw on the net and the price was right. It was our first time in a B&B and it was a pleasant surprise. We felt right at home and like we had known Cheryl and Carmine for a long time. The masion was immaculate and charming. The grounds were gorgeous with the waterfall, Koi pond and gazebo. You could even have an outside fire and pop popcorn! The big breakfast in the wonderful dining room was delicious. It was nice to converse with fellow guests and see where they were from. Cheryl and Carmine were very attentive and made sure we had enough to eat and told us the history of their life in the mansion as hosts. I took wonderful pictures and have them for the memories. I loved the fact that this B&B offers a package for new "parents to be" which we are! It includes a couples massage (prenatal for mom) and sparking grape juice rather than wine, though you get a bottle of champagne to take home for after the little one is born! Our first time at a B&B for 25th anniversary...will probably be the only B&B we'll ever stay at in Galena, as they set such a high standard that all others will probably disappoint. This was our first time at Cloran Mansion, and we had a memorable stay. We were celebrating our 11th anniversary and received a surprise bottle of wine, balloon, and card in our room. A great touch to the B&B was the guests' room which had a great array of DVDs, games, ice machine, microwave, coffee/drinks, and laptop for our leisure! We spent a couple days at the Cloran mansion after a stressful week leading up to our wedding. The cottage was great. It was clean, comfortable, and just what we were looking for. The mansion itself was beautiful. As nice as the accomidations were, the real hit were the caretakers. Cheryl & Carmine are the best host in the world. My husband and I recently stayed here for our honeymoon, and were a little leary as we've never stayed at a B&B before, but they went above and beyond our expectations. They make a big delicious breakfast every morning, and serve it in a formal dining room. They are very friendly, genuine, and take pride in what they do. The grounds are very well kept with a waterfall into a pond of fish, a gazebo, and firepit. The gazebo is screened in and the bugs don't bother you, there are no mosquito's so no need for repellent. The service is excellent, and my husband and I now have a standing reservation every year coming to celebrate our anniversary there :-). It's very peace and serene, the people are pleasant, and they give you everything you need to enjoy yourself we were there a week, and I swear it was the best week of our lives!!! We love staying at Cloran Mansion and have been there several times. My husband did the Galena Triathlon during our stay and we were celebrating our anniversary. The owners are incredible - very caring and concerned about making your stay enjoyable. My wife and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary at the Cloran Mansion. We stayed in Ann's Room. Carmine greeted us by using our names, which was a very personal touch. He showed us around the mansion and then showed us to our room. The pictures do this room no justice. It was beyond our expectations! It was very nice with a personal touch - Carmine and Cheryl had an anniversary helium balloon, a bottle of wine, and a personalized card! The room was VERY clean, quiet, and romantic. We could see that Ann's Room was just what we wanted. The fireplace made the room VERY cozy and the 2 person whirlpool topped it off! The breakfast was outstanding! There was plenty of food and we ate some of everything and were not disappointed. The other guests were very friendly and the entire atmosphere had a home feeling. We arrived later in the evening, and Cheryl and Carmine were at the door to welcome us. Our room was immaculate, and every detail had been attended to. I loved the gas fireplace in the room! We fell asleep in front of the fire every night. Having a whirlpool tub for two was great for relaxing after skiing, as was the in-house massage we scheduled. Breakfast was fantastic! You will get an especially warm welcome when you arrive at the Cloran Mansion. On the tour, we discovered that the mansion has all the character and charm of the original dwelling, yet has been completely updated. It was all decked out for the holidays both inside and out. Our room had a huge jet whirlpool and a fireplace that we really enjoyed after full days of hiking nature trails and shopping on Main Street. Maybe the best part of our stay was the scrumptious breakfast; homemade pancakes, waffles, eggs, hashbrowns, bagels and more. If you have a special diet, including gluten free, Cheryl makes your breakfast to order, according to your specifications. We will certainly return for another visit.

My husband and I have stayed at the Cloran Mansion twice now, and have loved everything about our stays. The room was comfortable - the linens, plush bathrobes, fireplace, mini-fridge stocked with complimentary beverages, the TV/DVD. There is a common room with DVDs and CDs to borrow, and coffee for early risers. Carmine and Cheryl offer several add-ons to your reservation; my husband and I had a couples' massage in the mansion. Other things you can add on include a private dinner (we didn't take advantage of this, but I'm sure it's wonderful - they're great cooks); check out their website for other ideas. Breakfast at the Cloran is a feast. You will not leave hungry! Their breakfast offerings change all the time, but when we were there we had fabulous pumpkin pancakes one day. The potatoes are always delicious, and the eggs were made to order. The property is a short distance from the tourist hub of downtown Galena, but that wasn't an issue for us. We liked leaving the center of town and driving back to the mansion at night. (It's a very short drive, by the way.) Cheryl and Carmine are great hosts and really did everything they could to make us all feel welcome. We look forward to our return to the Cloran Mansion.

After researching, we knew the Cloran Mansion would be The Place to marry. From planning to heartfelt hugs upon leaving, we felt welcomed. If you are planning a special occasion, consider the Cloran Mansion. A few clicks of a mouse, a couple emails exchanges and our wedding was planned. When Cheryl says they have everything they need and to let them take it from there, BELIEVE her! Our wedding was everything we imagined it to be. We stayed in Antonio's Cottage, which along with the mansion and grounds, were impeccably decorated. The landscaping, waterfall and gazebo add to the scenery. We set the Cloran Mansion apart for the following reasons: Value (reasonably priced, worth every cent), Hospitality (you will feel like family...even better), Cleanliness (impeccable), Charm (of innkeepers, decor, home, grounds), and Details (attentiveness). Everything was attended to and set to be "special". Carmine and Cheryl are in the right business, as it is clear by their professionalism and hospitality. Other B&B owners should take lessons from Carmine and Cheryl. It's the little details that count, from the beautifully set table every morning, to Carmine's delicious breakfasts, to the care they exude, making their guests happy, going out of their way to make requests possible. Cheryl came to my rescue at the final few moments prior to the ceremony, to fasten my gown. She took many lovely photographs, as did Carmine. As a team, they coordinate everything they tackle with amazing fluidity! Our wedding was at 3pm, and another second wedding at 5pm. How they pulled it off, I am not sure, but they did! Beautifully! We have given Cloran Mansion rave reviews to friends/family Ultimately, the Cloran Mansion is the best B&B we have visited, due to the gracious, caring hosts who clearly go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable and welcome.

Cloran Mansion is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast in Galena. I treat my mother to an overnight here every year for her birthday. A great getaway for any reason. Cheryl and Carmine's hospitality is their greatest asset. We love to chat during breakfast with the other guests as well. The rooms are inviting and cozy. We look forward to next year.

From the moment you park your car and walk across the grounds, and are ultimatley greeted by your hosts at the front door, you know that your stay at the Cloran will be special. The breakfasts are tremendous. Rooms are very well maintained, spacious, and tastfully decorated. In Saras Suite we had a stocked refrigerator, whirlpool for two, robes, snacks, sitting area, satelite TV/DVD/Stereo, fireplace and more. The Gardens are beautiful and inviting. We spent much time in the gazebo enjoying the pond and fountains. Cheryl and Carmine go out of their way to make sure you feel like the house is your home while you are there, and are very knowledgable about the local history/attractions. We are looking forward to our next stay.

We have found the most wonderful bed & breakfast in Galena. We just had our fifth stay there in Sept. 08 and are planning our next visit. The Cloran Mansion has so many features it is so hard to write it all. There great breakfast is something you do not want to miss. We just returned from Galena, Illinois where we stayed at the Cloran Mansion Bed and Breakfast. We were upgraded at no additional charge to a more spacious room with a jacuzzi tub and fireplace. We had mentioned that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary and when we returned from dinner that evening there was a complementary bottle of wine in our room, two wine flutes, and a beautiful personalized card. The breakfasts each morning were some of the best we have ever had at a B&B! The Cloran Mansion has central air and a lounge room with hundreds of DVD's. The owners are friendly and helpful and the rooms are reasonably priced.The web site is very complete with pictures and details of each room. All in all, this was one of the best B&B's we have ever stayed in with every amenity on could want. We heartily recommend it!

This was our first stay at a B&B. I was a little nervous dragging my husband there, but we both were very pleased with the Cloran Mansion. It was quiet and relaxing- just what we needed. Breakfast was superb. We stayed in Ann's room, & peeked in at the other ones not occupied- all nicely decorated. I wish it were colder out so we could use the fireplace! We took advantage of their extensive DVD collection, had a couple's massage, and enjoyed the atmosphere. I would return again anytime.

The owner was very polite and friendly. The room was fantastic and was very clean. Carmine was very imformative as were to go and things to see. He made a fantastic breakfast. They were more concerned with how things were and what they could do to make your next stay even better. I have already made my reservation for another stay. We are even planning on doing our sons wedding there. You can not ask for a more romantic atmosphere, or even just a night to relax.

What a fantastic way to enjoy a weekend away. We enjoyed a beautiful room with a whirlpool for two. Had a romantic dinner followed by a couples massage and sat out in the gazeebo for a relaxing end to a terrific day. How could it get any better. ....The next morning we had a breakfast that words cannot describe. We were so full we didn't have lunch. As if that we not enough the Innkeepers Carmine and Cheryl so kind and welcoming that you feel like you are at home the minute you enter the Inn. We plan to go back as often as possible.

Their brochure describes the Cloran Mansion as a "Romantic Getaway" and that aptly describes our experience. We live less than 20 miles from the Cloran and it is our "getaway" of choice. We stayed in Sara's Suite one year ago and we were disappointed that it was not available for our anniversary this year. Instead we stayed two nights in Antonio's Cottage and found it to be every bit as nice as Sara's Suite. Carmine and Cheryl make you feel like family returning for a visit. We love the screened-in gazebo. It is next to a beautiful garden and tropical fish pond. With the bubbling fountain and the birds singing, you would think you were in the country rather than only a couple blocks from a busy highway. We spent several hours both days just relaxing and reading in the gazebo. The breakfasts that Carmine and Cheryl serve are delicious and plentiful. The puff pancakes filled with cherries are out of this world! We will definitely return to the Cloran on our next anniversary (if not before).

Overall, this place was awesome! WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK! This was our first time in a B&B, and Carmine and Cheryl couldn't have made it a more wonderful time! We stayed in the Tower Suite, which has a King size bed, private bathroom (w/ shower), and a private 2 person jacuzzi in the cupola of the mansion. The room was excellent--the room was stocked with pop and water, we had satellite TV, there were rubber ducky's and bath salts in the jacuzzi, and a very comfortable room overall! Service was quality too--the owners were there to greet us even though we got in a little later than standard (around 5pm), and made certain we knew where everything was. They provide a full library of DVDs and CDs, and coffee/tea/cookies are available in the library at all times! Breakfast was delicious--the owners claim it is not 'gourmet' because they don't use crazy ingredients like at some frou-frou restaurants, but the first morning we had craisin French Toast, Hashed browns, bacon, cook-to-order eggs, and fresh juice and coffee; the second morning was delicious Apple Pancakes, sausage, cook-to-order eggs, hashed browns and juice/coffee. They serve breakfast LATE (from 9:00-10:30am), so you can sleep in if you like. It means a slightly later start to the day, but makes it MUCH more relaxing! It's a close drive to the downtown of Galena (less than 5 minute drive), which has a lot of fun shopping and history. There's also a screened-in gazebo, koi pond, garden, and fire pit on the grounds that are perfectly enjoyable. Good times! The only things I didn't like: The room had a lot of old pictures of bride/grooms, which in my opinion made it feel a little cluttered. Some of the wallpaper above the shower was bubbling out--probably too many steamy showers. :) And there was no temp control in the room, so we had to rely on the ceiling fan, which was fine. Those are all VERY little points in the grand scheme of things, and this place ranks a 9.5 out of 10 in my book!

We have just returned from a 3 night stay for our anniversary. We stayed in Antonio's Cottage which was a private romantic retreat. We also had access to everything located in the house. It was better than expected. We started our stay with a couple's massage on the premises and followed it with a private candle light dinner provided by the B&B in their romance package that was simply amazing! The host Carmen and hostess Cheryl were absolutely charming, wonderful people and they cooked the best breakfast ever. We often could not eat until dinner because we were so full from the unbelievable 6 course breakfast. They were very full of knowledge about the area and gave us great recommendations regarding sites to see. The pictures do not do this place justice, it was great to see that the rooms were better than described and shown in pictures. Thorougly enjoyed our visit at the Cloran. Very clean and well kept with a really comfortable bed! Hosts were very accommodating and friendly. Outside grounds are impeccably landscaped with a charming gazebo next to a pond with a waterfall. One of the best we have ever stayed at. My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway for a special anniversary and I could not have been more pleased with him choosing the Tower Suite and the lovely Cloran Mansion Inn. From the moment we arrived, I knew this place was special. The grounds are leafy and beautiful, with a lovely pond, cozy gazebo, and comfy fire pit. The hosts, Cheryl and Carmine, are so warm and welcoming. I felt as if I had known them for years. The house is beautiful and our stay in the Tower Room was such a treat! I arranged a 3 night stay at Cloran Mansion as a surprise (for my husband) anniversary getaway. I made all of the arrangements online: viewed the rooms and their availability; extras available (anniversay dinner, massages, flowers, etc.);and reservations. Cheryl and Carmine have thought of everything and it is evident that they love what they are doing. The room was gorgeous, the yard was beautiful, the breakfasts delicious and very filling, and their company was very relaxing. I would recommend a stay at the Cloran Mansion for any occasion.

My boyfriend and I stayed there for my birthday celebration. Carmine and Cheryl are wonderful hosts. I must say that we have found our favorite place and we will be back many times! The name really does apply, it’s a Mansion. We were upgraded no charge to a nicer room but all rooms are great! The rooms are decorated beautifully and the bathrooms have a large two person whirlpool, completed with bath salts and soft, plush robes. There is also a mini-refrigerator with complimentary water and soda and a gas fireplace. TV with satellite dish and DVD player. The main living area has a large DVD library, along with coffee maker, popcorn, homemade cookies, board games and a laptop with Internet access. The breakfast was excellent, no need for lunch after that! We had French toast that was to die for…..eggs made to order, ham, and the potatoes were delicious. Cheryl and Carmine are excellent cooks. All served in a beautiful dining room, with fine china, and linens. The grounds are well cared for, with a beautiful gazebo and a pond with fish. You can also make a fire in the firepit. Overall a very romantic weekend; I am already recommending this B & B to my friends.

The innkeepers Carmine and Cheryl on very short notice arranged a wonderful private wedding for us. We had a relaxing afternoon of therapeutic massage, an early evening ceremony followed by a wonderful candlelit dinner for two.
