My work brings me to Missoula, Montana two to three times each month for long days of meetings and field work and at the end of the day I am ready for a peaceful respite from the frenetic pace. Goldsmith's is my haven on the banks of the Clark Fork River and I strongly encourage you to pay it a visit during your next visit to Western Montana. I have stayed in all of Missoula's "high end" accomodations and today I wouldn't consider staying anywhere other than Goldsmiths. The location is world class, the structure an achievement in historic preservation, the housekeeping standards are beyond reproach and the staff and the breakfasts they provide are absolutely outstanding.

This was our second stay at the Goldsmith's Inn. We enjoyed ourselves so much durning our previous visit, there was no question as to where we would stay upon our return to Missoula. And being able to view the Clark Fork River from the Inn was a thrill for our son Gerry.

I stayed here when I graduated from U of M and the B&B is just across the footbridge from the campus. I just walked over and joined the ceremony. It was a great place to stay and super-convenient. There is a bike shop next door that rents bikes. Any Missoula plans in the future will include a stay at Goldsmith's Inn Bed and Breakfast. The crepes were unbelievable! Tabitha is wonderful and a great host!

Our room gave directly on the rushing Clark Fork River-- delightful. Some other rooms do not face the river and would be less charming, but also lower priced. The staff were warm and kind. The only additional service I would like to see, which would be easy to add, would be self-service ability for guests to make tea. Montana gets very cold, and the B&B is not staffed after 6pm. It would be nice to be able to come in from the cold and have a cup of hot tea.

Last month was my 6th (or 7th) visit. I fish the rivers of western Montana and Missoula is where they all meet. This B&B has it all--the best beds and breakfasts, friendly staff and a location to die for-- on the river, steps from the university and a block or two from the best restaurants (and fly shops,if you care, like I do) in the best city in Montana. Can`t wait until next September.

Food was delicious - rooms clean - friendly staff. I stayed in a room that was very clean, but I was disappointed in consistency of housekeeping during my stay. (I learned during my stay that the cook is also the housekeeper, as well as the innkeeper/greeter.) Although beds were made, no real effort was obvious to clean the bathroom except for changing out towels when we indicated we wanted them changed when. Minimum effort. Also, this is an old house...the floors creak! If you are at all sensitive to train horns, you can hear it once late in the evening. This place is walking distance from the University of Montana, just over a footbridge. The smell of cooking bacon wakes you up at 7:30...Very short walking distance to grocery store if you want to get your own goodies for lunch/dinner.

My fiancee and I stayed at Goldsmiths the night after our wedding in Missoula, and it was so much fun. The room was beautiful and had the best view and great porch, and the breakfast was delicious (cream cheese french toast bake!), served by super friendly folks. We will definitely recommend this place to friends and family who come to visit us here in Missoula. Thanks for making our honeymoon so special. The perfect ending to a perfect day.

I loved this place. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a little getaway. It sits right on the river and its the cutest house. The only downfall was that our bed was noisy, I can live with that. But I would definitely come back. I was very happy with this decision. We even met new friends!

This was my wife & I's third stay at the Inn. We love to fall asleep to the sound of the river & wake to the smells of breakfast drifting up from the kitchen. The views from the balcony are great, we have seen deer, kingfishers, eagles, & ospreys, all in the city. We also like how close it is to the walking trails that lead into & around town.

We stayed 1 night on our way from Glacier to Big Sky and were sorry we had only booked one night. The place is lovely - very clean, comfortable and nicely appointed. We had a room overlooking the river which was very pretty. We were unable to connect with the WiFi which was a disappointment. Breakfast was very good - both hot and cold. Nice selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and a gourmet omlette in a crepe. The place is very close to UM which may be good for parents visiting however was surprised it wasn't a more secluded area. Overall would stay there again if in the area. Walking distance to Higgins Ave. where many restaurants are made it very convenient.

After two weeks of traveling, I was thrilled when we arrived and discovered that the "honeymoon suite" was on the first floor with its own entrance and porch overlooking the river. I spent several hours over the next days sitting and reading there ... we left the windows open to hear the river at night. Once you are on the porch, you forget about the strip shopping nearby.

We chose Goldsmith's as the final destination of a three-week hiking and exploring trip to Montana. We were a bit tired, and this charming old house was a great place to come back to after a day of tromping around Missoula. Its location right on the Clark Fork provides immediate access to a great hiking and biking path along the river, and a quick walk over a nearby bridge plops you right onto the U of Montana campus. The breakfast was delicious though rich...but no worries for the fat-free fanatics, since the cook gladly prepared yolk free omelets or whatever else might suit the finicky eater in my family (not me...bring on the French toast!) I can't imagine a better place for visiting parents of university students to spend a long weekend.

The room was fantastic in size, very clean and quiet at night. Couldn't ask for a better location if you want to walk to the U and downtown and disembark your August inner tube trip down the Clark Fork right at the Inn. The staff was terrific and most helpful. Goldsmith's daily solo hot item ie chocolate crepes w/ chocolate sauce one day, "monkey bread" w/ an egg inside the next day, followed by a small slice of a doughy veggie fritatta, didn't really seem like breakfast foods to me. I settle on the yummy granola, thick slices of bacon and toast when I stayed for 5 nights. Wish they washed & scrubbed the porch decks down regularly, thought they should shine.

We arrived late one summer night but Goldsmith's Inn B&B was easy to find and they had a secure lock box with clear & simple check-in instructions. A cool breeze from the river made it easy to settle in and get to sleep. In the morning we had a fabulous breakfast and still had time to hike up to the M on the UM campus (providing a wonderful view of Missoula & the geology of the area) and get back on the road before 9 am. It would have been nice to stay longer but it was a perfect one night stay during a long road trip.

We were appreciative and thankful for the staff's willingness to adapt to our needs. We arrived late and asked for breakfast a little earlier than scheduled. No one hesitated. The only thing we were asked was, "What time would you like to eat?" Impressive service. The room (#7) was lovely, the sitting area larger than I had expected and the views, and sounds of the river, were great. Hope to return to see more of the area.

I was in Missoula for a conference at the University. Goldsmith's was close enough that I could easily walk to the U. It was great to sit on the porch and watch the river roll by. I recommend getting a room on the river side rather than the street side--the view and the soundtrack will be much better. The staff and guests were very friendly and I will definitely go there again when I return to Missoula.

We picked the Goldsmith after looking at several options and were glad that we did. It's location on the river with its walking path and the lovely view from our balcony made it a very comfortable inn. Its a short walk to downtown where there are a number of excellent restaurants and other things to do. The owners saved the house from demolition and had it moved to its present location. We'll stay there again when we return to Missoula.
