Evelo's Bed & Breakfast

Evelo's Bed and Breakfast, also known as "the Bell House" after the original owners, was designed by the mid-western architect William Kenyon for Dr. John and Kate Bell in 1897. The home has three stories and has one of the best preserved... more

My mother and I visited Evelo's while in town for a John O'Donohue workshop. The decor was wonderful, the place is located just steps away from a bus stop, the hosts were gracious and helpful, the lighting was gorgeous and the FOOD was just RIDICULOUSLY fantastic. Seriously, it was scrumptuous and delightfully different each morning we stayed. My mom and I STILL think about it at random times. I love B&Bs and I visit them as often as I can and I have NEVER come across one that fed their guests as well. You should visit them...and send me the leftovers.

We have never stayed at a B&B. We are senior citizens and were treated royally by Barbara, substitute inn-keeper. The Evelo's were on vacation during our 4 night stay. Barbara's breakfast was delightful and healthy. Fresh fruit, juice, baked breads, etc. were prepared fresh each morning. Due to the fact that we are limited in our abilities to climb stairs, the third floor bedroom was inconvenient. The room was very pretty and the closet was a very generous size. It would have been perfect had it not been for the stairs. Folks that stayed there were very friendly. Barbara provided us with answers and directions to help us get around the city. If we were in better health, I would not hesitate to stay there again.

This B&B is probably the best I have been in the past years. Very welcoming and I was given a lot of information about Minneapolis so that I could tourist around. Very clean place. The house has a very fine and old finish. I was already impressed as I stepped in the first time. Breakfast was a feast day after day. I was very impressed by the freshness of the food and the different kind of dish I was offered. I will definitely come back again and tell all my friends about it. Thank you for the wonderful staying. Massimo.

The antique decor is certainly a delight to the eye. The reasonable rate compensates for the wait for the shared bathroom. Although the innkeeper strives to make wonderful pastries, fruit and yogurts; we do miss having a hot egg dish of some sort. It is too heavy on the breads and pastries. I would like the option of not having the breakfast at a lesser cost if possible

We only had one night in Minneaopolis and Evelo's was the perfect place to stay! It was beautiful and very comfortable and breakfast was delicious! The owners David and Sheryl were very gracious and helpful in recommending a fantastic Italian restaurant near by. We will stay with them again if we are in Minneapolis!

What a find! I loved everything about this B & B. It is clear that the Inn Keepers have paid close attention to all the important details. Relaxing in the main floor parlor, we were surrounded in beauty and our room was equally divine. My husband and I spent an in-town getaway night here and, even being locals, we were able to get a recommendation for a great place for dinner that we hadn't previously known about (an especially nice surprise for people who go out to dinner a lot.) The breakfast was delicious. I wish I could stop in for breakfast even when I'm not an overnight guest. It was a bit cold for the porch (November) so I look forward to visiting again in the spring. Thanks for a fantastic, much-needed respite.

Evelo's Bed and Breakfast is one of the few B&Bs in Minneapolis proper (not the burbs) and is located uptown near interesting shops and cafes. It's also near the bus line if you didn't bring a car. The house is beautiful and the rooms are decorated with antiques. There's a slightly somber feeling in the place which can be a bit overwhelming. The better rooms are on the top floor since the 2nd floor you hear people going up and down the staircase in the morning. The owners are pleasant but very reserved. My favorite part of the stay was sitting outside on the porch with my laptop and doing work because I then felt less confined. There are only a few rooms. I recommend Evelo's as a convenient and economical option but since it is so small and you can hear the antique clock ticking in the parlor as well as a pin drop, it's not the place to party or honeymoon.

As vegitarians we loved the breakfasts - which also helped save money as we were full up till tea time ! David and Sheryl went above and beyond to be helpful - even calling friends in a effort to arrange things! We felt very welcome and "at home" with David and Sheryl - all in all a great place to stay

It was a pleasure to spend some days at Evelo's B&B!! After two days in Minneapolis city, the modern part of the town, it was really fun to relax in this green and quite area where Evelo's B&B is located. There is a small lake in the close neighbourhood and an all organic supermarket (there are not so many in the United States as far as I have noticed). The Breakfast is excellent: hand-made marmalade and cakes/bread and a lot of fresh fruits. The housing as such is also worth take a small trip: an old Victorian house with many old lamps and little things to see. So, in conclusion: if you plan to go to Minneapolis, e.g. for business reasons, stay in the Evelo's B&B!!

We had a very nice stay at Evelo's following a visit to Minneapolis to help my mother. We used to stay at Nan's a few blocks away until they retired and we look forward to visiting the Evelo's again on our next trip back to Mpls.

I am in Minneapolis at least once if not twice a year for work. As a business traveler, I love staying at Evelos. The innkeepers are warm and friendly and give great suggestions about navigating the Twin Cities. None of the rooms have bathrooms, but it's never really been an issue. The only drawback is that they don't have wireless internet. The food is fantastic and the location for conventions or other events downtown couldn't be better.

This lovely B&B has has a bicycle path nearby that connects it to the Minneapolis Convention Center. I parked my car and left it sit for the duration of my stay. David gave great directions on the route to ride. Evelo's is truly an outstanding B&B, and an outstanding value in Minneapolis.

Nestled in a Minneapolis residential neighborhood, with-in walking distance of the world famous Walker Art Museum, is this gem of a B & B. When you step through the door, you also step back in time to the end of the 19th century. The home is a Tiffany museum with an outstanding collection of Louis Tiffany glass ware. The breakfasts were outstanding and healthy, to boot.

My sisters and I enjoyed our stay at Evelo's Bed and Breakfast very much. We loved the vintage style furnishings and the beautiful vintage bedding. The location of the bed and breakfast was great because we were close to markets, boutique stores, and downtown. David and Sheryl were helpful in giving us ideas on what to do in the nearby city. The breakfast they provided was superb and went beyond our expectations. We loved this inn and hope to stay there again soon!

This absolutely charming B&B was a wonderful introduction to Minneapolis. This 1897 Victorian has been lovingly preserved and beautiful period pieces just add to the relaxing and elegant atmosphere. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed reading in the firelit parlor with soft music and wonderful grandfather clocks ticking. As for dinner, the Evelo's provided us with lots of suggestions within our parameters (which included walking distance) and we were not disappointed. The next morning's expanded continental breakfast included choices of yogurt, fabulous fresh fruit (beautifully arranged), a wide variety of delicious fresh baked breads, juice and coffee all served in their fabulous "conservatory" dining room. My husband then went off to work and I was given suggestions and directions for lots of sites within walking distance. I spent many happy hours walking through the sculpture garden, fabulous parks, wonderful neighborhoods with beautiful homes and churches, and around some of the lakes in the city and had good lunch at a cute vegetarian restaurant I happened upon. We were so enamored with everything we made a reservation to come back again in two weeks when we'll explore more of the city that lies within walking distance of this charming B&B. (The only minor drawback is the shower which is in a dormer making the curtained area a little tight.)

I stayed at Evelo's in April 2005, while at a conference held at the convention center. Three years later, I still rave to people about it. The breakfasts were wonderful and more than generous. I had a nice walk each day to the convention center (the city bus picks up at the corner of the street, just in case). Dave Evelo had recommended to me another path to the center that passed a sculpture garden. The price was great, the food was great, the neighborhood quiet and safe. A very, very nice stay.
