This was our first B&B experience, and because of Nicky, it will be the first of many. In fact, we're already trying to figure out when we can go back to Britannia. Nicky is absolutely charming. Her B&B is warm, inviting and perfectly located next to Lake Michigan. We loved our room and especially loved the English flare Nicky has brought to the entire B&B. The breakfast was excellent and the presentation was delightful. Elegant yet personal. What can I say, she's an incredible host and an absolute pleasure to talk to. If you're looking for a relaxing trip away from the touristy areas, this is your B&B. Door County is a very short drive if you feel inclined to play tourist for the day.

I searched the Internet for what I wanted to be a special place to become a Memory. Britannia is that place! From the moment I made the reservation with Nicky until we arrived, I knew it was the best choice. And I did a lot of searching. We were not disappointed. The Eagle's room was beautifully decorated, in blues, my favorite color. We enjoyed the sunrise each morning, and the evenings when returning, sitting by the fireplace was so cozy; to read my book. Listening to Lake Michigan and the Canadian geese lull us to sleep, was the way to end a perfect day. Breakfast was delicious each morning, Nicky does a wonderful job as hostess, and John is the perfect host and a joy to listen to. The helpful ideas they suggested to see and dine at ,were great. We tried to see and do too much in Door County, in too short of time, and hope the next time we visit we can just stay, and enjoy Britannia and relax! But, I'm afraid with more and more people finding out about it, we'll be on a waiting list for a reservation! I wish them well, but, hope we will not have to wait too long!

What a perfect place to call Home after a perfect couple days of motorcycling through the fall foliage. We have sought out B & B's throughout the Midwest and as far west as Ajo AZ. The Britannia is truly THE Gem of gems in the B & B world. Exquisite rooms with gorgeous views of the Lake Michigan sunrise, an unusual glacial pebble beach to explore, scrumptious breakfast and Nicky & John are the most accommodating and interesting hosts you will ever meet. My wife and I joined another couple on a Harley ride up to Door Cty to check out the Fall Colors. My wife and I stayed in the Eagle's Nest and absolutely loved it. It was so excellent to wake up and look out on a Lake Michigan sunrise without even having to get out of bed! The locations provides excellent views of the Lake, is conveniently located to the peninsula, and Nikkis breakfast was truly outstanding. My wife and I have stayed at many a B&B but this one has been our favorite, not only for the great views, rooms, and location, but even more so because Nikki & John were the most pleasant of hosts and full of very interesting conversation. I highly reccommend Britannia B&B to anyone who is visiting Door Cty. We will DEFINITELY be visiting again!

We stayed in Algoma en route from Minneapolis to Door County ( a great stopover, as we discovered)--we decided to stay at Britannia B&B to give ourselves a special treat before our 2 days of camping in Door County. We loved the view from our room (I could sit in a chair with my book & look up to see the lake!), the "plateau" partway down the hill with the hammock, the sound of the waves putting us to sleep, the comfy bed, the tasteful decor, the sunrise streaming into our room in the morning! (I personally also enjoyed the cat which “made the rounds” along the walkway outside of the downstairs rooms in the morning!) We enjoyed the “continental plus” breakfast—it was delicious, exceeding my expectations! We would definitely recommend this B&B -- friendly owners, with that special English touch. We stayed in the least expensive room and absolutely loved it – the inn is situated such that all of the rooms have the wonderful views.

After doing our fair share of research and reading the reviews, my husband and I decided on Brittania for our 2nd anniverysary and our first B&B experience. The only regret we have is that we weren't able to return to Britannia every weekend. The room was luxurious yet comfortable, Nicky and John were warm and welcoming, and the conversation around the breakfast table was charged with the energy of people who were just as happy and excited to be at Britannia as we were. We were literally lakeside in the beautiful Moondancer, and John and Nicky had spot-on suggestions for lunches, dinners, and sights to see. I can't express enough what a memorable and heart-warming experience this was. My husband and I felt both romantically secluded and cheerfully part of the gang at the breakfast table even though we made the trip to Algoma alone. We can't wait for our next stay at Britannia, which wouldn't be complete without a complete English breakfast. Thank you for everything, Nicky and John!

Relaxing spot to stay when visiting the Door County area. Wonderful hosts, the opportunity for a different kind of breakfast, nice scenery on Lake Michigan. Rooms are well appointed, comfortable and make it feel like a little bit of home. A room on the second floor will be a bit quieter than the bottom floor, for those of you who are light sleepers. Nice spot to just read a book, watch a sunrise or if inclined, chat with the inn keepers or guests.

My husband and I were looking for a B & B on the lake and we found THE ONE! John and Nicky went out of their way to make our stay memorable and enjoyable. The view from our private balcony was amazing. The sunrise over the lake was a sight to behold! Definitely worth getting up for! The gentle breeze in the Algoma area made the hot and humid July weather fade away, we did not even need to use the air-conditioner! It was so relaxing to be able to throw open the lovely French door and see the lake; we could even hear the water splashing against the shore from inside our room! Nicky was quick to accommodate us when we were able to arrive a day early; with only an hour notice she had our room ready and waiting. The breakfasts were fantastic; both in presentation and in taste! I would love a couple of her recipes! Our room was tastefully decorated, warm and welcoming, so unlike a sterile hotel room. What beautiful antiques and accents! We plan to visit again! Hopefully soon!!

My wife was turning 40 and our plans for a getaway out of the US were dashed by business intrusions. I called Britannia and talked to Nicky and we decided that a British flavored B&B would do the trick. We were not disappointed in any way! We had a great relaxing weekend by the lake and in one of our favorite parts of Wisconsin. We will certainly return and I would like to say thank you to Nicky and John! Great place, great food and really great people and service, I would recommend Britannia to anyone.

We spent two days mid-week at Britannia. Our room was clean, comfortable and charming, with a lovely view of the Lake. The first morning, Nikki made a spectacular full English breakfast, which we enjoyed in her home. On the second day, we enjoyed a continental breakfast which Nikki delivered in a picnic basket on our private deck overlooking the lake. The hospitality of the owners -- and their wonderful cat, Buffy -- was warm and generous. This place is a gem.

My husband and I have visited many hotels and b&bs in and north of Sturgeon Bay, but never thought of visiting Algoma until some friends told us about a delightful conversation they had with the proprietors of the Britannia B&B. Curious, we decided to check it out, and were SO happy we did! Not only are the rooms beautiful (especially the Morning Glory suite) but even more so, the kindness and generosity of the hosts is unparalleled. Nikki went out of her way to make a special cake for our anniversary when she wasn't able to locate one like my husband requested. Furthermore, when we stayed over one cold winter weekend when the county was very "still," we were treated to 2-3 hour breakfast conversations that made us feel like part of the family. These innkeepers remember who you are, ask specific questions about your lives, and never make you feel like you are income rather than people. Finally, although their "schtick" is the British decor and fare, both John and Nikki do a great job supporting businesses in Algoma with their gift certificate packages (winter) and personal recommendations. We found a couple of great little haunts (including the Cafe Tlazo and pizza at the Algoma Bowl), so that on one trip we never even ventured outside of Algoma. If you are expecting run-of-the-mill corporate accommodations with wi-fi and pre-printed matchbooks, you won't find it here. However, at the Britannia you WILL find something much better -- a thoughtful and personalized stay with a couple who truly know how to make you feel at home.
