I searched the Internet for what I wanted to be a special place to become a Memory. Britannia is that place! From the moment I made the reservation with Nicky until we arrived, I knew it was the best choice. And I did a lot of searching. We were not disappointed.
The Eagle's room was beautifully decorated, in blues, my favorite color. We enjoyed the sunrise each morning, and the evenings when returning, sitting by the fireplace was so cozy; to read my book. Listening to Lake Michigan and the Canadian geese lull us to sleep, was the way to end a perfect day.
Breakfast was delicious each morning, Nicky does a wonderful job as hostess, and John is the perfect host and a joy to listen to. The helpful ideas they suggested to see and dine at ,were great.
We tried to see and do too much in Door County, in too short of time, and hope the next time we visit we can just stay, and enjoy Britannia and relax! But, I'm afraid with more and more people finding out about it, we'll be on a waiting list for a reservation! I wish them well, but, hope we will not have to wait too long! View Reviewer Info

My husband and I have visited many hotels and b&bs in and north of Sturgeon Bay, but never thought of visiting Algoma until some friends told us about a delightful conversation they had with the proprietors of the Britannia B&B. Curious, we decided to check it out, and were SO happy we did! Not only are the rooms beautiful (especially the Morning Glory suite) but even more so, the kindness and generosity of the hosts is unparalleled. Nikki went out of her way to make a special cake for our anniversary when she wasn't able to locate one like my husband requested. Furthermore, when we stayed over one cold winter weekend when the county was very "still," we were treated to 2-3 hour breakfast conversations that made us feel like part of the family. These innkeepers remember who you are, ask specific questions about your lives, and never make you feel like you are income rather than people. Finally, although their "schtick" is the British decor and fare, both John and Nikki do a great job supporting businesses in Algoma with their gift certificate packages (winter) and personal recommendations. We found a couple of great little haunts (including the Cafe Tlazo and pizza at the Algoma Bowl), so that on one trip we never even ventured outside of Algoma.
If you are expecting run-of-the-mill corporate accommodations with wi-fi and pre-printed matchbooks, you won't find it here. However, at the Britannia you WILL find something much better -- a thoughtful and personalized stay with a couple who truly know how to make you feel at home. View Reviewer Info
