What a beautiful, relaxing environment in which to celebrate! From the jacuzzi to the scrumptious breakfasts and bottomless cookie jar/cider - it was just fantastic! The massages were wonderful as well. We stayed in one of the cozy basement rooms with a private entry (basement really doesn't fit, however, as it was intimate, cozy, warm, and inviting). The restaurant down the street is amazing as well, and Saugatuck is charming. Plus, the house is very centrally located for doing the Michigan Wine Trail or heading to one of the bigger cities nearby for some nightlife. Nice place for a little escape!

This was the perfect weekend away. The small town is charming in the fall and the hot cider Dave put out was delicious. The breakfast is worth getting up for, and if you can coordinate a hot air ballon to propose it is even better! The local dining and wine was incredible. Am ready to come back!

We've stayed at the Kingsley House three times now and have experienced three different suites now and have never been disappointed. The suites all are very private and you feel like you are the only couple in the Inn until breakfast time. On our most recent trip, we stayed in the Cider Nook and loved it...very private and quiet romantic spacious suite. And the food is absolutely amazing! Every trip we have made to the Kingsley House, we have always experienced new and scrumptious food! Highly recommended!

We stayed at the Kingsley House for two weekdays in October. We used their weekday special, where we got the room of our choice as well as a $40 gift certificate to Salt of the Earth Restaurant. It was a great deal. We got one of the hot tub rooms (the Cider Nook), a great dinner at Salt of the Earth, and a delicious breakfast both days. My only complaint is that the Cider Nook doesn't have any windows--this isn't the innkeepers fault, just how it is. Otherwise, the house was great. Board games, movies, bottled water, and cookies were always available. The bed was comfortable, and the hot tub was great. The breakfast was awesome. And the dinner at Salt of the Earth was amazing. Overall, we loved it and would recommend it to anyone visiting this area of Michigan.

Such a lovely place in a quiet, peaceful area. The attention to detail is fabulous, everything seemed to be covered. The fall decour was outstanding. Breakfast was relaxed and quite tasty. The bed was very comfortable, the only negative (and it's nitpicking) was the bathroom in our room (The Duchess) was a little small for a big guy. We loved how the staff was available if needed but receded to the background otherwise. It was as if we had the place to ourselves. It was just a really, really nice place to stay and we would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone staying in the area!

Great place where the owner takes care of every detail. In the afternoon he had complimentart carmel apples, and the cookie jar is always full, as is the beverage refrigerator. I've stayed at many B&Bs across the US and Dave's breakfast was the best I've ever had! Rooms were exceptionally clean as was the entire B&B. Would definitely stay again.

Absolutely the best B&B we've experienced. We like B&B's and generally have stayed in them in Europe and the NE of the U.S., but have not experienced one as hospitable as the Kingsley. The Innkeepers treat their guests like family in every way....from the food to the rooms to every little touch in the amenities and beyond. You MUST also eat at Salt of the Earth restaurant while staying at Kingsley. It's just a couple of blocks from the Inn and fantastic dining!

We typically stay at B&Bs when we travel (from coast to coast) but none of them compare to Kingsley Inn. We agree with the other reivews here about the Inn's beauty, the great breakfasts, the amenities etc. But what truly set it apart for us was just how personable and friendly the Innkeepers were. They truly went out of their way to help us with planning our stay and making everything as nice as possible. It really was like visiting close relatives. Except we can't wait to visit again. :)

A mixup in the internet reservation meant we spent only one night there (the second of two we'd planned). Dave called the next morning to say the room was ready and we were welcome to check in early. Very personal and thoughtful! Lovely place.

My wife and I spent August 28th and August 29th staying at the Kingsley House. We had a glorious peaceful and relaxing time. The room was wonderfully decorated and everything was extremely clean and neat. The two breakfasts that we had were just plain outstanding and delicious. We loved eating outside on the porch, even though it was a bit cool. I am sure that we will return there because of its comfort and its closeness to Lake Michigan.

We did a "mini" honeymoon here and it was nice. A little on the old fashioned type, be we didn't mind. The service was great, and there are many great little perks in the house itself. Totally recommend the Cider Nook...private entrance, and very cozy!

The Northern Spy Suite at the Kingsley house made it feel as though we were the only ones in the house, even though there were at least 7 other couples there. The service was remarkable; there was nothing that we went without. Breakfast at the Kingsley house kept you smiling and satisfied until dinner time. My husband and I truly enjoyed our four day stay at The Kingsley House. It served as a great homebase for exploring South Haven, Saugatuck and Holland. We stayed in the McIntosh Chamber which was beautifully decorated in blue and white. The breakfasts were very tasty. My husband especially enjoyed the fresh fruit every morning. I am a very finicky eater and I was able to find something to eat every morning. The afternoon snacks and the guest refrigerator were also very convenient. The lack of hot water was a bit of an issue each morning, but I attribute part of that issue to inconsiderate and/or inexperienced B & B travlers who didn't understand jacuzzi tub etiquette. I highly recommend The Kingsley House and hope to have another opportunity to visit in the future.

This was one of the best B&B that we have ever been to. The hospitality was incredible from the moment we stepped in the door. They have thought of everything. One day it rained and there was a closet full of board games, a cabinet full of movies, warm brownies set out and a refrigerator full of cold pop to make sure we still had a great time. Our room was cozy and romantic... the perfect atmosphere to celebrate our anniversary.

We were married at the Kingsley House on July 18, 2009. Dave and Jeff made our wedding perfect, they took care of every detail. They're hospitality was very outstanding, they went out of they're way to make our stay truley perfect. I would recommend the Kingsley House to anyone, it was a truley romantic experience. What a wonderful two days we seven friends & sisters spent enjoying the food, rooms, service and attention to details. We travel to Fennville to visit relatives about twice a year. Each time we pass The Kingsley House we always said some day we would stay there. Our children made our dream come true when they gave us a weekend in the "dream house" for Christmas. Our stay was more than we ever expected. Our room was unbelieveable (like a little girl's dream of a castle), the service fantastic and the food will never be matched. We stayed in the Northern Spy room and enjoyed our visit immensely. Dave, the innkeeper, did a fantastic job in all aspects. The food was exquisite. We just returned home from our stay in the Cider Nook..this was our first stay at a B&B, and it was better than we couldve dreamed...the privacy that the Cider Nook provided us was just what we needed to unwind from our everyday lives..the breakfasts were wonderful..the first morning I was unable to join everyone in the main room, our hosts were thoughtful enough to make up a plate for me to enjoy in our room...the atmosphere is warm and inviting..we will most definately be returning for future visits..eventually staying in each unique room.... This kingsley house is beautiful and very relaxing. The breakfasts where wonderful with lots of different things to try. We got messages that where outstanding and much needed. The house is like stepping back in time. We where in the Cider Nook room which was in the cellar. This was very quiet and cozy. We plan to stay again in October 2009 in the top of the house. We just needed to get away for a couple of days alone after a hectic holiday week. We had driven past the Kingsley House in Fennville several times on our way to Lake Michigan, and decided that someday we would try it. Last weekend was that opportunity, and we were not dissapointed in the least. A beautiful historic home, close to Saugatuck, Douglas, Holland, and Dave was a great host. The food was delicious, and we were able to get away and be alone together for a few days in the most beautiful rooms. I'd recommend the Kingsley House to anyone.

The hospitality and "extras"---DVDs, games, always a yummy late afternoon snack---made us feel like we were at a friend's home to visit. (I forgot my toothbrush and a new toothbrush was available to keep.) In addition, the wonderful breakfasts provided by innkeeper Dave Drees showcased his culinary skill!

Dave is the ultimate innkeeper - gracious and accommodating. One of the most special attributes is Dave's gardens - they are gorgeous and it is evident he take great pride in them. I loved the fresh flowers every day in the parlor. The breakfasts are terrific!!!

We stayed at the Kingsley House for 9 days and left with wonderful memories of the place. Our room, the Golden Delicious, was very clean and comfortable, the dining-living room was elegant and always had beautiful fresh flowers dispalyed all around. Every morning we very much looked forward to the elaborate breakfast on the wonderful porch. In the afternoon, surprise homemade sweets were waiting to be enjoyed as was iced tea or lemonade on the porch. The cookie jar and a bowl of jellybean was tempting us every time we passed by it. Dave and Jeff are great hosts and pay close attention to detail which makes the Kingsley House such a special place. We highly recommend the Kingsley House to everyone.

Wow! What a wonderful getaway the Kingsley House is. From the moment we checked in everything was perfect. The Braeburn suite is secluded and private with an exquisite whirlpool tub. Dave makes the most wonderful breakfasts and cookies! The Saugatuck/Douglas area is beautiful to explore with lots of neat things to do. Take a cruise out on the lake, wander through the stores in Saugatuck, or sit on the porch at the Kingsley House to unwind. Thank you for a great time away from everything.

We had a wonderful weekend at the Kingsley House! Everything was close enough to be convenient, and the winery down the street was an added bonus! In between all the 'tourist' activities, we enjoyed just relaxing and watching a thunderstorm roll in from the cozy front porch, drinking wine and enjoying Dave's homemade cookies. The Duchess Suite was unique due to it's location in the turret, but the bathroom was quite small.

Gerald & Donita Traeye (Flint, MI) The most important thing that will stick in our minds was the excellent hospitality we experienced. Our first night, their was a very bad Thunderstorm and Tornado. We thought we were safe in our room in the bottom of the House. Water leaked in our room and before we knew it their was a knock at our room door. Dave and Jeff were their to assist us. They moved our things upstairs to a different suite and it was more elegant than the last. We really enjoyed the breakfast in the morning and the privacy that they gave us. The Kingsley House is the most Romantic spot in Michigan. Its 1800 elegant look will make your romatic stay unbelievable. My wife and I will definatly return!!

We have stayed at many B&B’s across the country, but never have we ever experienced anything quite like the Kingsley House. This Inn is top notch in every way imaginable, from the breakfasts, to the decor, rooms, amenities, cleanliness, hospitality and more. The location is perfect…minutes from the beach, area resort towns, local winery, orchards, etc. and yet removed just enough to be peaceful and quiet. Just what we were looking for! We our already planning our fall trip at the Kingsley House and can’t wait. Kudos, Dave and staff! Tip for other guest…walk a couple of blocks from the Inn and you will find two GREAT restaurants….from Mexican to Gourmet…great food without the hour wait at other area eateries.

My wife and I spent a long weekend here recently. Although not located in one of the "tourist" towns, it is only a short drive to Holland, Saugatuck, and South Haven. Breakfast was good and the fresh cookies and baked goods were quite tasty. For other dining, the inn is only two blocks away from one of the better Mexican restaurants in the region. The innkeeper was very helpful and pleasant, as was the rest of the staff.

The Kingsley House is a beautifully preserved and maintained Victorian home that affords comfort and convenience to its guests. Mr. Drees is a great innkeeper and serves wonderful breakfasts - each day is a unique experience. My sister and I each had rooms that were quiet and comfortable and we found being in Fennville very convenient - a small town atmosphere with closeness to Douglas and Saugatuck for dining. We skipped desserts out because we knew Dave would have great coffee and cookies on hand for us. We enjoyed reading out on the large veranda and the gardens. I hope to visit again!

My wife and I enjoyed our visit to Kingsley House. The house was very interesting to stay in, the guests were fun and the rooms and services great. I was a little disappointed in the immediate town (though it looks like it is growing) but it is close to other fun places and the nearby winery and orchards are fun to visit. As far as food goes, the breakfast is excellent but dinner I was a little disappointed with. The pasta was overcooked and the desert was a little strong. That said, the meal was still pretty good (I have high standards).

My wife and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary at the Kingsley House. It was perfect! We wanted something a little more private and the Cider Nook room was exactly what we needed. This was only our second B&B and we weren't sure if we were "B&B people". Our first stay at a B&B a few years ago had us in your typical room, with other guests right next door. I guess we thought it would be more 'private'. Well since we knew we wanted more privacy this time I called Dave at the Kingsley and he suggested the Cider Nook room. It was everything he said it was. Very private and secluded. The house itself is beautiful and Dave attends to any need you may have. We had breakfast delivered to our room one morining(an option if staying 2 nights or more)and it was fantastic. The attention to detail is top notch. My wife and I loved the Kingsley House and will definately be back.

As always, Dave was very hospitable yet unobtrusive. The rooms are always immaculate and the house is well kept. We come from Joliet, IL and find the trip a short jaunt interrupted occasionally by a stop at the IN/MI casinos. When you stay at the Kingsley House, be sure to spend time shopping the local artisans in Saugatuck and spending an evening dining at Everyday People, and award-winning restaurant in Douglas. And of course, sample the local winery offerings and plan to bring back several bottles. Fenville Winery is right down the road. Our main chef, Bill, was outstanding in his easy-fixit menu choices and selection of top quality ingredients yielding mouth-watering results. We stayed at in the Dutchess room for Valentines Day weekend. We loved the beautiful room. We felt transported in time! The antiques were gorgeous, the breakfasts were outstanding and the attention to detail was wonderful! We can't say enough good things about this little gem! We are thinking about going back there next year. I have told all my couple friends about it!

I planned the entire romantic Valentines Day escape online with some apprehension....I ordered the flowers I wanted, a picnic basket with a specific wine, all in the Jonathon suite (servants quarters) and then I hoped for the best....I was thrilled to see everything I ordered was perfect and Dave was a gracious host!! The home-style touches were superb!! It was our first Valentines Day together and I could not have dreamed it any better!! See you next year Dave!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Kingsley House over the past weekend. It was our first stay at a B&B and we really enjoyed it. The Kingsley House is quite welcoming and the food was amazing. The surrounding areas were nice as well. We definitely plan on going back and would highly recommend it to anyone considering staying there.

This was our second stay at the Kingsley House and we were just as pleased as when we stayed there the first time. This time we stayed in the Cider Nook which is located under the inn. Our room was very private, beautiful and warm with a small corner fireplace and an enormous bathroom with a jacuzzi and shower. Innkeeper Dave again outdid himself with his breakfast buffets which included such things as blueberry cobbler with whipped cream, sausage, quiche, pecan french toast, fresh pineapple with coconut and yogurt with granola and fresh peaches. In the evening there were more treats ..... from eclairs, to cookies to smores and lots of beverages too. The Kingsley's location is wonderful. We went cross country skiing in Allegan for a full day and then went antiquing the following day. Many of the other guests visited the nearby wineries. So for a wonderful getaway we would highly recommend the Kingsley House.

The inn was very clean and neat. It was cozy and charming. The inn was peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was incrdible. The hot drinks and snacks are great. Dave is also very prepared with water, pop, games and movies. I think the only thing that was dissapointing was the lack of seeing the inn keeper. He was very private and really did not talk to us. I wish when we had left he would have asked how are weekened was. He just said thanks and hope to see you again. The only thing I could relate that to is it being such a private place thye really don not talk to you. Other than that it was wonderful.

Kingsley House has a great location that is close to so many things. We did the gourmet food, winery, antique shops, GVSU play, Allegan Forest. Holland, Saugatuck, Allegan, Grand Haven, South Haven are all within a distance to use Kingsley House as a home base. Consequently we stayed three nights and did it all!

What a wonderful way to enter the new year.. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every moment. We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary with many memories to take home. If only Dave would have come home with us to be here every morning to cater the outstanding breakfasts. Hats off to Dave, he was an excellent host. Murder Mystery dinner was a blast. First timers and we loved it. :) Plan on going back when our busy schedule allows. Highly recommend the Northern Spy Room...Secluded and very spacious. :) Thanks for a wonderful getaway.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Kingsley House. The room was great! When you stay here, make sure you make it downstairs for breakfast. Dave's cooking is something you don't want to miss. Make sure you grab a few of his cookies on your way to bed too! While I was there, I noticed that the Kingsley House has won several awards. They are all well deserved. Keep up the good work Dave!

I've stayed at the Kingsley house 2 times now - once in the summer and once in the winter. Both times it was a blast. The Innkeeper has such a great eye for detail and takes great care of his guests. There's also plenty to do in the area and the breakfast is wonderful! I will definitely be back in the future.

We could not of asked for more in a Bed and Breakfast. The house was Beautifully decorated for Christmas and the North Spy suite was secluded and very peaceful. The breakfast was delicious and our host was very accommodating with endless cookies, hot cocoa and a great selection of movies to relax in your room with. A quick drive to Saugatuck and a stop at the local winery made our day complete. If you are looking for a peaceful weekend get away The Kingsley House is a must stay.

Hi Dave, The only concern I had was the mattress. Both me and my friend have terrible back problems and it was difficult sleeping. Maybe next time I'll learn how to use the hot water carafe. Kathy

Our children got us a gift certificate to stay at Kingsley House for Christmas last year and we couldn't of been happier with their choice. We found it to be very impressive. They attend to the details that make the stay very enjoyable. I told all my friends about the wonderful food at breakfast. I still can taste that wonderful blueberry bread pudding. I can’t say enough about how you made our stay at our first B&B a memorable one! We definitely picked the best and now Julia is so spoiled, she doesn’t want to go anywhere else (I also feel the same way!). It is a lovely house, with a gracious host, in a charming town, and wonderful, wonderful food. I could go on and on and on. Please don’t change a thing; you are excellent at what you do. We will be back many more times, you can count on it. Julia plans to eventually stay in every room there.

I stayed in many motels and hotels, but never a B and B. My husband received a gift certificate to stay at the Kinsley's. I went online to check the Inn out and it was so gorgeous. The hardest part was picking out the room. We finally chose the Granny Smith because it offer an extra large king size bed. The room was decorate nice and the bed was real comfortable. It had beautiful fireplace but bathroom was a little small. The Inn itself was just beautiful. We enjoyed swinging on porch swing and sitting in the parlor area in the evening. The breakfasts were delicious. Our first B and B was wonderful! When we stay there again, we most likely will stay in a suite that has a whirlpool tub!

My husband and I had stayed at the Kingsley House 8 years ago and we recently celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary there in Sept. 2007. We loved it more the second time. Dave is a wonderful cook and I loved the little extras such as cookies, hot chocolate, etc. Our massage therapist was wonderful as well. We stayed in the Cider Nook and besides the occasional creak from floor boards above us, we didn't hear anything. It was very quiet and romantic. Dave's breakfasts were outstanding. We loved the afternoon snacks and "midnight snacks" as well. The complementary coffee was great as well, though I was off caffiene at the time (what was I thinking), and drank the decaf. Dave has tons of information on things to do in the area, nearby restaurants and it really is an extensive library. Highly recommended. Make sure you stay here. No other B&B will live up to this level of service.

We spent two nights at the Kingsley House in to get away for my husband's 50th birthday. It was one of the most relaxing and romantic times we could think of in our marriage. Dave has thought of every possible detail for his guests and caters to each whim. The breaksfasts are to die for and we came home wondering what do do without breakfast! We had a great stay! The house is very beautiful and unique. Such a relaxing place with the greatest porch to sit out. We enjoyed the room and had a great time. We enjoyed our stay, it was quiet, beautiful grounds and Dave thought of everything his guests would want or need during their stay. I bought a weekend getaway for my boyfriend's birthday, just to hide and relax. We had the Northern Spy suite and it was wonderful! We took full advantage of all the amenities and loved our room so much, he is still smiling! The homemade treats were delicious and what great breakfasts! Dear B&B.com readers: What was anticipated to be an warm sunny summer August long weekend in Southwest Michigan turned out to be overcast and rainy. My partner and I were celebrating out anniversary and had brought road bikes & swimwear in anticipation of a weekend of being outdoors. What a (albeit welcome) surprise when we ended up spending almost all our time in one of two suites at lovely Kingsley House (in Fennville, Michigan) with their own private entrances. Ours was called the "Cider Nook", which had a almost secret Victorian cave-like feel. Aside from the sense of privacy, a feature I enjoyed was the large bathroom. I have often felt like the bathroom should be a place where we linger a little longer and enjoyed rathe than treat as a room of functionality. So, needless to say, at the Cider Nook, we had enough room in the bathroom to store two expensive road bikes, luggage, and still have plenty of space to allow for one of enjoy reading in the small couch while the other went about with personal hygiene rituals and/or or relaxing in the double jacuzzi. Breakfast in bed was a feature that was available to us but I loved getting out and onto the gorgeous wrap-around veranda, with views of the gorgeous plants and flowers that adorned the grounds everywhere one looked. And this is not speaking of the attention to the small touches...an endless cookie jar and coffee/tea machine, a massive DVD and CD library and guest cabinets stocked gratis with cold beverages, toiletries and emergency supplies. Best of all, the Innkeeper was gracious, helpful, friendly and not at all intrusive...a unique blend of qualities that made our stay that much more enjoyable and memorable. A nice no-regrets intimate find to replace what was originally a frenetic weekend in the Big Apple.

I went to the Kinglsey House in July 2007 and I would definitely return. All the rooms were very beautifully decorated and immaculate. The whole house was immaculate. Dave had a great breakfast spread every morning and made from scratch. Sweets were out all day to eat and coffee, tea, hot chocolate at your fingertips. Soft music playing on the huge front porch where we ate breakfast. You were so close to Saugatuck (10 minutes)but you came back to a very restful place to sleep. I loved it and highly recommened this B&B. I enjoyed myself so much I stayed another day. Hope to be back next year.
