We decided to take a spur of the moment weekend trip and made last minute reservations at Backstrom's B&B without knowing anything at all about it. We could not have made a better choice. Ms. Betty Jo is a perfect example of an original Southern Belle. The accommodations were beautiful, private, comfortable, and you immediately feel like you have come home. We especially enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porch and the peaceful feeling that was there. The breakfast was served in traditional down home southern style and the food was great. It was home away from home...only better.....you'll love it.

I have a new friend in Columbus, MS, and her name is Betty Jo Backstrom! The moment I entered I felt enveloped by the peace that resides in her home and the surrounding woods. Normally an early (5:30am) riser, my first night there I slept until 7:00am. Talk about restful! I felt perfectly comfortable throwing on my sweats and padding down the stairs to bring my coffee back to my room. Breakfast was full and delicious. Betty Jo is a gracious and delightful hostess. I look forward to staying with her again on my next visit to Columbus. Thank you, Betty Jo!

We traveled to Columbus to watch the MSU vs. Vandy football game. Mrs. Backstrom made us feel right at home, and the kids just loved her. Everything was so roomy, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding, and such hospitality can only be offered by a true “W-Girl.” Thank you for the experience, we look forward to visiting again! GO STATE!!!

Running from Hurricane Gustav, my husband and I were delighted to spend four days with Betty Jo. She is the most delightful hostess we have had after staying in bed and breakfasts for the last 15 years. She is so gracious and friendly. The room was lovely and spacious. The breakfasts were delicious and ample. I look forward to returning for a vacation stay.

My husband & I stayed with Betty Jo Backstrom last year & it was a real treat. Her place is cozy & welcoming. Listening to her stories is like being at Grandma's knee and eating her delicious breakfast is like being at Grandma's house. This place is a hidden jewel.

I had to travel to Mississippi alone on family business. If felt so safe and at home in the large warmly decorated second floor bedroom and adjoining bath. The Southern charm of Mrs. Backstom enhanced my visit as we enjoyed breakfast and conversations. I was alone for three days and then three other family members stayed in the blue bedroom suite. The entire family had a delightful time.

Betty Jo is a remarkably nice person. At the time of our stay (July, 07) her husband Bill was in a facility so we weren't able to meet him. The property is on the edge of town and very nice in a suburban setting. The rooms are dated but very large, clean and comfortable. Top-notch value in a safe setting. This couple has lived a full and interesting life and Betty was a delight to come across. Extremely hospitable. We were not able to stay to eat breakfast due to our schedule, but Betty puts on quite a feed, I understand. Pls keep both Bill and Betty in your prayers.
