My husband, 2 young daughters and I stayed at Cedar Grove for a night this summer. We were thoroughly impressed with the accommodations of the Carriage House and with the service of the mansion. We have stayed in several B&B's over the years and this is by far one of our favorites. The tour included in the price of the room is well worth the time. We will definitely be staying here again if we ever happen back through Vicksburg!

We loved the Rhett Butler Room, which has a hole in the wall from a Civil War cannonball. Dinner was expensive ($25-35 for entrees) and was good but not great. Breakfast was a little disappointing. The free morning tour was nice, although I (a northerner) found it strange that the guide refused to use the word "slaves" when talking about the "servants." We would go back, but probably not if saving money was an object.

There is a little minor work needed on the buildings and grounds but still a beautiful old building. It is clean and comfortable. Food is pricey but you get a free breakfast.Free coffee any time of the day.You can wander around the mansion and go in any room. Very historic building. There is a patio up on the roof with a great view.I would not hesitate to stay there again. Sure beats the standard boring motel room.

I'm not sure what they do with their revenue, but they clearly do not reinvest it into maintaining their guest rooms. The mansion house is historically fascinating, and the folks there are very nice. BUT the quality of the rooms left much to be desired for the rate we payed ($135 and $155). The bedding covers and top pillows were shedding threads, the fitted sheet had lost its elasticity and did not stay on, and insect droppings were on the curtains. Our primary TV functioned, but the sitting room TV got horrible reception due to its age and antenna. Also, the Wine and Cheese Hour had no cheese and only one glass of wine was complimentary. Additional glasses within the hour cost $6 each. NOTE: the rooms have VHS players, and no DVD players, but you can 'check out' movies from the VHS collection. Warning: Ask the rate for each night to be sure you know what your bill will be. We signed in on Thursday with an agreed upon rate of $135, but when we received the bill for our 2 day stay, we discovered that the rate for Friday night went up $20 to $155. I can understand an increased rate for the weekend, but we were never told and felt hoodwinked.

COULD BE THE MOST MISREPRESENTED PROPERTY I'VE STAYED IN. MY EXPECTATION (FROM OTHER REVIEWS AND THE WEB PICTURES) WAS THAT IT WOULD BE ANOTHER MONMOUTH PLANTATION. IT ISN'T. I HAD THE FEELING THAT THEY WERE CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. IT WAS DESERTED. THE COMPLIMENTARY WINE CONSISTED OF ONE VERY SMALL GLASS EACH. NOT EVEN A PEANUT TO ACCOMPANY IT. THE BROOM LEANING UP AGAINST THE BAR WAS A NICE TOUCH, HOWEVER. DINNER WAS OVERPRICED FOR THE QUALITY. THOUGHT THAT IT SHOULD BE CLOSED FOR REPAIRS AND A LOT ARE NEEDED. NOT A WELL MAINTAINED FACILITY. NEXT TRIP I'LL GO BACK TO NATCHEZ.

My husband and I have been to this amazing mansion ten times in the last 5 years. It is like stepping back in time. It makes you want to dress as they did in the 1800's. With an outstanding staff who is always ready to service your every need with a smile. The grounds are well manicured to perfection. The rooms are very nicely decorated, and extremely clean. The food service is the best you will ever receive anywhere. There is a bar located inside the mansion and the bartender is like an old friend who is always willing to tell you the history of the mansion and listen to your experiences of the ghost sightings that occur while you are there. Which we have had several. You may even hear about the story from the entire staff of our little grand-daughter's (Allie Rayne) encounter when we took her with us and stayed in the Klein Suite. It is possibably the most remarkable experience we have EVER had while staying here. We highly recommend this B&B if you are into the paranormal, or, just in need of a place to relax. We will be coming back many times in the near future. We miss you all and hope to see you soon. Very respectfully, Joe and Kay Javens

We stayed this past weekend at the Mansion and the staff could not have been more helpful. They were simply fabulous. The resturant meals inside the mansion were excellent! The fruit and cheese tray was to die for and the desserts were fabulous. The topping to the stay was the tour of the house and the history behind it was excellent, We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Don't forget to ask for the turn-down service - I promise you will be glad you did! Reed and Tammy Gaede
