We went down for a little weekend getaway and were blown away! The service was over the top amazing, they really know how to deliver "southern hospitality". We tend to frequent high end restaurants and we were quite impressed with the food that we ate in Macon, both at Marco's and at the local seafood place (Jim Shaw's). They exceeded out expectations by leaps and bounds. The rooms and parlor were elegant and quite well appointed. We enjoyed meeting very interesting people during the evenings spent in the parlors. We would highly recommend a visit!

Loved the huge beautiful home and all the history we found here. A pre civil war jewel in Macon is beautifully preserved and restored to offer Southern charm and comfort at its finest. You will love the breakfast and relax in beautifully done rooms. The parlor and grounds are spectacular. Be sure to inquire about the history and the ghost! Enjoyable and romantic. We are so glad we made a stop here. An exceptional B& B experience.

Return to a special place in time...and savor the experience. Crystal chandeliers sparkle above antique furnishings and oriental carpets. A Friendly staff stands ready to serve you day and night. Fresh coffee or a fragrant cup of tea in the parlor. Cocktails or an aperitif in the Taft State Room. A fine brandy to sip by your bedroom fire before retiring. When the housekeeper turns down your bed linens, she leaves you a bedtime treat of imported chocolate mints. While you sleep, the staff shines your shoes and prepares a good breakfast of fresh juice and fruit, special breads and pastries, and tea or coffee. This they bring to your room with the morning paper. You sense why 1842 Inn is so right for you. The nineteen guest rooms and the public areas of 1842 Inn are within a Greek Revival antebellum house and an adjoining Victorian cottage that share a courtyard and secure off-street parking. Reliving the serenity of another century does not necessitate forgoing the conveniences of this one. Of course, there is a private bath, independently controlled heat and air-conditioning and telephones in all rooms. Cable television is secreted away in each room's handsome armoire.
