1847 Blake House Inn Bed & Breakfast

BLAKE HOUSE INN, originally "Newington", was built c.1847. Surrounded by 150 year old pine and sycamore trees, this fine example of Italianate architecture with Gothic Revival influence will bring you back in time to the more relaxed atmosphere of the 1800's. Our Inn is minutes away from the BILTMORE ESTATE and the entrance to the BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY and provides easy access to all other WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA attractions. Conveniently located in the HISTORIC ROYAL PINES AREA, 1847 BLAKE HOUSE INN was one of the beautiful summer homes built by wealthy low-landers to take advantage of the cool summer breezes in the mountains of North Carolina. 1847 BLAKE HOUSE INN boasts of 22" thick granite walls, 12' high ceilings, and five spacious guestrooms all with private baths. The Carriage House has a lovely Guest Suite for families of up to 6 (scheduled to open 5/06). Our guests awaken to the aroma of freshly baked breads and muffins, which will accompany their artistically presented fruit plates. Everyone will enjoy a two-course breakfast of homemade dishes on fine china in one of our two spacious dining rooms. 1847 BLAKE HOUSE INN accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, travelers checks, and personal checks. 1847 BLAKE HOUSE INN is a member of the NORTH CAROLINA BED AND BREAKFAST AND INN association and the ASHEVILLE BED & BREAKFAST ASSOCIATION.

Review 1847 Blake House Inn Bed & Breakfast, Arden, NC

Photo Album

The Magnolia Room is our mid-range room with a queen-size bed, original heart pine floors, gas fireplace, and 12' high ceilings. The unique feature in this room is the full fabric canopy ceiling. Like all of our guestrooms, this room is air-conditioned and the private bathroom has a shower. We do allow pets in this room and keep a suitcase with toys and blankets in the armoire. The custom king size bed made from an antique door matches the window hanging above the bed. It is perfect for a family of three with its brass accented white day bed, skylight, and antique vanity table. The full bath has a brand new large tiled in shower. The Azalea Room has cable TV, DVD player, and a telephone. Because the room is fully carpeted, we do not allow pets in this room.
The Lilac Room is the largest guest room in the main house and it features a king size bed, and a fireplace framed in ornamental ceramic tiles with a large original mantle and gas logs. There is cable TV and DVD player in the room along with a telephone and seating area. In addition, you can write up one our complimentary post cards at the antique writing desk. French doors leading to Helen's Balcony and the Inn's largest private bath with an antique cast iron tub and shower, that has dark blue outer enamel, brass claw feet and white porcelain inside, set the stage for returning to the slower, more relaxed times of the 1840's.This photo shows a portion of the living room and a piece of the kitchenette in the Carriage House Guest Suite.
2 Dining Rooms can hold up to 70 people for weddings, receptions, meetings, showers, etc.Covered front porch with seating and hammock
This photo shows the covered entryway to the house as well as some of the grounds, including the steps leading to the gazebo.1847 Blake house Inn Bed & Breakfast
Second floor guest-only sitting and reading hallway with game table and chairs.Parking area and entrance in winter.
Dogwood Room with king bed, fireplace, hardwood floors and 12' high ceilings. Private bathroom with shower.
The Sycamore Suite, located on the first floor of the Carriage House, is perfect for families with children, people looking for an extended stay, and small groups. The suite, which can accommodate up to four adults and two children, includes a large bedroom with a king bed and a separate living room with a full-size sofabed. We also have a toddler bed and a rollaway bed for children. The bathroom is spacious and the kitchenette has a small refrigerator, oven/stove, coffee maker, and a table with four chairs. Continental breakfast is included in the nightly rate for the Suite and your kitchenette will be stocked for your stay. If you wish to enjoy the hot breakfast in the main house, please add $10 per person (age 6 and older) to the nightly rate.

Please note: There are two steps down into the bathroom so this Suite is not wheelchair accessible.

We apologize; however, pets are NOT permitted in the Sycamore Suite at this time.
