The food was excellent and the inn was beautiful. We felt that is was overpriced for what we got. Our room (the Cherry room) not as clean as we would expect it to be with the price we paid. There was a lot of dust especially on the floors. The "king size" bed was actually 2 twin beds pushed together. The crack between the two beds was uncomfortable. Overall, we had a nice stay but felt we paid too much.

Innkeeper Response
We are sincerely sorry your stay did not match your expectations of value in terms of the 2 reasons you describe. We are glad that you found The food excellent and the inn beautiful. ~ For the dust: I have to say I am surprised by the cleanliness comment because that is the single most important factor to us here. We have a lot of procedures in place to assure cleanliness. Among which, we vacuum the floor after sweeping, and after housekeeping has finished the room, every single day, we have a person whose sole job here is to inspect for cleanliness and prep the room with flowers, water, cookies, snacks, etc... Our sanitation score for the Inn is exceptionally high at 96.5 and for the restaurant 100. Something may have happened and we can only apologize and wish you had brought the matter to our attention at that time. You can see in many of the reviews here very high marks for cleanliness, although significantly more challenging in a Historic Register property ~ For the bed: You are right and that was the result of a mix-up as some guests request the two mattress arrangement, and we will be changing things back to the way they are supposed to be. We would have changed then and there had we known ~ Overall value: I stayed at a hotel recently where Internet was $17.26 a day, parking $27.41, very plain minimal breakfast $70 a day for two, and small bottle of water in the room was $5. That is $117.41 a day in tack-ons. And this was in a regular American city not Manhattan. On Veterans Day Weekend, you paid $219 a day all included. People tend to forget all that is included in B&B rates when compared to hotels rates. Here, all and much more, such as all the soft drinks, coffee, tea, homemade cookies, and snacks, are free, including a Champagne reception with food, and live music if you book on weekends where rates are slightly higher than weekdays. I am not saying this is your case but it is important people compare apples to apples. Again our apologies.

I just wanted to drop a note and tell you how much we enjoyed staying at The Inn this weekend. The absence of the phone, cable, internet and most of the cell phone service, was so refreshing. I've experienced this many times before on camping trips (which I dearly love) but to have the girls around and them be happy campers was so much more better. It was an eye opening experience to these modern day distractions, that we sometimes call necessities (though they aren't really) and how they take precious time away from us to interact with those things of life that we should cherish the most, our family. The food was superb and the service as well. Your staff spoke very highly of having the opportunity to work for such a wonderful family as yours. It was very good to get to share time with your family, getting to meet Sandra, Danielle and Marie, and seeing the love and devotion to service and happiness they afford the guests of your home. Thanks again for helping me to spend one of the best weekends with my family that I have had so far, to this point in life. I know it won't be the last one that we spend together at your place. We'll have to do it again. Take care and God bless you all, Mike

We wanted somewhere to get away and recharge our batteries. Our stay in the Gazebo Cottage was just what we needed. The cottage was lovely, the gas stove cozy and the bed comfortable. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Forget Me Nots on Friday evening. The weather was lovely and we enjoyed hiking around the property and visiting the rabbits. The food was marvelous .... slow cooking produces incredible results! We highly recommend it and plan to return again and again.

Very cozy B&B in Valle Crucis, NC. We were upgraded to the Blacksmith Shop cottage on account of a slower Fall weekend - it was great! Friendly and helpful staff, cozy and comfortable lodging, very good breakfast. Beautiful location in the pasture land of Valle Crucis, just around the bend from Mast General Store. A great, relaxing weekend. Thanks!

A wonderful 3 night stay at Mast Farm Inn. The Blacksmith Shop where we stayed was quaint, comfortable and impeccably clean. The staff was uniformly helpful, and service oriented. We asked for ideas for places to go for trail running, hiking and bicycling and were steered in the perfect direction each time The food was outstanding. All in all a first rate stay. We stayed in one of the cabin's which was rustic and lovely. The hot tub was a plus, along with the bath robes (nice touch). The guest bag was nice along with the personalized letter, but to make it more intimate, you might want to add the breakfast menu (since breakfast is included) along with any/all activities going on in the are or at the Inn. While the Mast Farm Inn had lots of nice qualities, my biggest issue was their failure to advise their customers to avoid the road between Banner Elk and their Inn. The dirt road is loaded with hairpin turns on a rapidly declining slope. Coupled with the long drive to the Inn, a rainy night and thick fog it was particularly treacherous. It is enough to ruin anybody's vacation by itself. Then when we got there we were really ready for a nice meal. There are no restaurants anywhere near the Mast Farm Inn, so we called the number they left us for inquiries. The home number was answered by their maid and she could not help us at all. The cell number they left for us was the wrong number! We had to drive all the way back to Banner Elk to get dinner. Fortunately, our waiter there was able to give us an alternate route back tot he Mast Farm Inn. It was longer, but a much better drive. The waiter told us that the road between Banner Elk and the Mast Farm Inn is treacherous on a bright and sunny day, so he was very sympathetic to our situation. The people at the Mast Farm Inn could have spared us the pain, but failed to do so. I will also mention that there is a single step after you come down the stairs from the third floor that is poorly marked. There is no effort to people aware of the step. I stumbled on the step and my wife fell down completely. The woman who helped my wife up stated that she had tripped in her bedroom as well. Finally, the owner of the B&B proudly sports seven of his nine Porsche's out by the barn. If someone is headed to the mountains to enjoy the simpler life, this pretentious display of excess will do nothing to enhance the rusticity of the mountains. It was disgusting. He even has a Porsche golf cart for show. Our rooms were $250 a night. For that money, I would expect a higher level of consideration of the guest's experience.

Innkeeper Response
The roads to here are all paved. It seems you took a wrong turn and ended up on a dirt road thinking that was the only way here. All three primary accesses to the Inn: Broadstone, NC105 and NC194 are fully paved the entire way. There are 50 plus restaurants within a 8 mile radius; and we have a complete list with descriptions at the front desk. You received an email questionnaire 7-10 days prior to arrival which asked if we could help you with anything, including dinner reservations. The phone numbers are printed, on display several places, and all are correct. It's possible you dialed a wrong number. At home it's also possible a nanny answered but 95% of the time someone is home as 5 of us live on the same property. In fact if you are who we think you are, my wife answered the phone. As she has a French accent perhaps you thought she was hispanic, hence the maid. There is no owner here, there are five. The Porches are not the owner's, nor belong to any of the owners, but to a fleet-sharing club located across the street at the barn. The Porsche Golf cart you speak of is no such thing, but an street-legal electric car made by Chrysler that we use; as we live 500 yards down the road this cuts down on wasted gas going back and forth, eliminates emissions, and hopefully demonstrates that electric vehicles can be of practical use. The reviews here and elsewhere speak eloquently of the very highest quality of our personal assistance and services. While we regret you stay started off on a bad foot due to a wrong turn and fog, and seemed to remain fixed in that state of discontent, we can only help if we know there is a problem. We ask guests almost every time we see them how everything is going and if they need any help. We work hard to provide the very highest quality available anywhere and feel your review is not an accurate portrayal or characterization of our efforts. The Mast Farm Inn

OMG! what a luncheon it was. Excellent food & service. We enjoyed every minute we could soak up. We stayed at the Granary and enjoyed the horse and donkey show. The back porch with the rocking chairs and beautiful sunsets along with the rest of the wedding party. The Porche Club was a plus. Sandra upgraded our family with an extra room at the Inn because of more family members attending unexpectly. What a beautiful weekend. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Woodwork Shop cottage. It was better than I even imagined. We walked into a cozy setting with soft lighting and soft Irish music playing in the background. There were so many beautiful touches. Quilts, a clawfoot tub, the charming loft upstairs. All this made for an unforgettable place to stay. I can't say enough for the food either. We had dinner and breakfast and both were superb. Friendly service all around. The bunnies on the premises were fun too. Highly recommend the Mast Farm Inn.

My husband wanted to surprise me w/ a little getaway and would not tell me where we were going so, I decided to do some snooping on my own. We are B & B lovers and have been to b & b's all over including England and Scotland so, I knew it had to be nice if he was surprising me. I went online and searched all the top rated b & b's out there, but couldn't figure out which one. When we pulled up to the Mast Farm Inn, I was pleased and thought it was very charming. Guytano greeted us and was so wonderful and everything was so organized and efficiently run. I was extremely impressed by how clean and well groomed everything was bc I know how hard it is to keep dust and spider webs under control in old places. We stayed in the Granary and loved it! All the little touches of decor made it so special w/ the old Life magazines, pictures and antiques. We loved the back porch w/ rocking chairs and enjoyed sharing the property w/ a horse and donkey. The beds were extremely comfortable and bathrooms up to date and beautiful. I've saved the best for last... The food! OMG! Everything was so fresh and yummy! My husband and I cook a lot and it was so great having someone cook for us and such flavors! Breakfast was delicious and stayed w/ us most of the day. We were still full at lunch time. Meeting Sandra was like seeing an old friend and Danielle finds time to cook unbelievable dinners, but at the same time make you feel at home and do everything else. I don't know how this family can run such a well-oiled establishment and find time to make people feel so at home, but they do it and very successfully! We will definitely be going back to the Mast Farm Inn and what a great surprise it was!

Valle Crucis is a timeless valley right in the heart of NC ski country. We stayed on the third floor in the Cherry Room, which is large, well appointed, and comfortable. It was delightful to walk in the room and hear local area music playing and see two fresh cookies on the table. The clawfoot bathtub was luxurious. The grounds are lovely -- plenty of scenic strolling area to work off the good food they serve. Although they request dietary restriction information at registration, it would have been nice to know what was on the menu for breakfast before it was served and to have a few options from which to choose. The local products sold there are a little on the pricey side, but they have a nice variety of offerings. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We look forward to future visits.

My wife and I have stayed at The Mast Farm Inn four times now and will and will be returning for a fifth stay next summer if not sooner. The Mast Farm Inn is first class in all areas. What we like best is the personal and kind touch of class which permeates throughout our stay there by Ms. Sandra Siano and Ms. Danielle Deschamps. I honestly feel as a guest that I am part of their family! I know they mean that to be but that is very hard to do. Our stays at The Mast Farm Inn remain one of the best travel experiences of the many we have taken. Not only are the accommodations second to none, the dining there is also first class. The menus for each meal are personalized. Now, that is unique and guests get a kick out of the extra time spent on adding tidbits of information from guests’ hometowns to even hobbies to their menus. Moreover, the food is not only very well prepared but served tastefully with a genuine country home grown theme. In fact, every time we return, we continue to be amazed how good the meals are here. I would unhesitatingly refer this superb restaurant and lodging establishment to those travelers out there who want a comfortable stay with these superb innkeepers who truly mean to make their guests feel right at home but at the same time allow the proper space needed by many. Sandra Siano, Danielle Deschamps and their families have done it right. The innkeeper’s sincerity, friendship, consideration and refreshing kindness is very well appreciated.

This was my first time at a bed and breakfast, but if this is how bed and breakfast experiences are everywhere then I clearly need to plan more trips that include them! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Blacksmith Shop, which was stunning (in particular, the large pink claw-foot tub in the loft was a dream come true--no bubble bath was provided as promised on the website, though). The price for a mid-week stay was a little high in my opinion, but we didn't feel that our money was not well spent at the end of our stay. What was worth every penny of our stay: the breakfasts. A-maz-ing. We stayed for 3 days and each morning had a unique breakfast, and the staff remembered our tea/coffee/juice habits and had the table pre-set for us each morning on the second and third day before we even arrived. Between the muffin tops, the oatmeal with raspberry preserves, the chocolate chip pancakes with banana glaze (or the cream cheese and raspberry stuffed pancakes with peach glaze)...I wish I was there right now to enjoy the food! So unbelievably yummy! Overall, great place. And the bunnies raised on the property are adorable.

What a wonderful experience we had at the MFI! We stayed for Valentines weekend and had a lovely time. The cabin we rented was perfect! Rustic but clean and very well kept- we loved the rocking chairs and the wood burning stove. We had some dietary restrictions and the kitchen worked with us to make the meals perfect! Our dining experience was amazing. I would highly recommend a trip to MFI- it is top notch!

The Mast Farm Inn is definitely into the details. We were so pleased with our stay. When we arrived the fire was going in our fireplace, the rooms were warmly lit, music was quietly playing and we had a personalized welcome on our bed. I even loved the fresh clippings of a frazier fir under our welcome and also in the bath. The beds were Oh, so cozy and breakfast the next morning was fantastic. Loved the personalization of the menus! Can't wait to come back.

My husband and I have been guests of the MFI several times and are never disappointed with any aspect of our stay. We have stayed in the Maple Spring Cottage all but once when it was otherwise booked. One of the things we enjoy most is the fact that our cell phones rarely work and there is no TV. There are so many wonderful experiences to be had in this world that we are not the types to keep returning to the same place over and over. We prefer trying new destinations, accommodations and restaurants. But Valle Crucis and the MFI nourish us and continue to draw us back.

I booked into the Mast Farm Inn and as many rooms were available they upgraded my stay to the Loom House (smart decision I'm now hooked) as this was closer to the main house. My Garmen gave me incorrect directions and upon calling they were kind enough to stay on the telephone with me to get to there as well as met me in the room to help settle me in quickly so I could get to my engagement on time, even drew a map. The breakfast was amazing and the room was unforgettable. I haven't enjoyed a business out of town trip in ages. Can't wait to come back.

After looking at many Bed and Breakfasts online, I kept going back to The Mast Farm Inn. After our recent Wedding and Honeymoon there, I realized why. The Inn Keepers and staff of The Mast Farm Inn are absolutely amazing. We did not have to worry about any detail of our wedding except what to wear. The atmosphere in the Loom House was amazing and perfect for our very private and special ceremony. Even though Danielle was extremely busy in the restaurant, she made sure we had our evening meal on our wedding night in our cabin. Special touches like hot coffee and chocolate left by our door the next morning was so much appreciated. The food is outstanding. These ladies are very talented. I highly recommend The Mast Farm Inn if you want rest, privacy, good food, and to be treated like royalty. We intend to visit on our Anniversary every year. Thanks so much to everyone at The Mast Farm Inn for making our special day even more special.

We stayed at the Mast Farm Inn for 3 nights with our 2 children, ages 5 & 7. We had the Maple Spring cottage with 1 queen size bed in it's own room and a Murphy bed for the kids in the living room. We were all together, but not on top of eachother. The cottage was sweet and homey. The kids loved the outdoor hot tub the best! The staff was very accomodating to the children, anticipating they might not have the same taste in food and offered regular panckes and juice boxes. My husband and I, however, thought the breakfasts were out of this world! And the personalized menus were a fun, nice touch. The location was perfect- in between everything you'd want to get to in the mountains. We had the best weekend. We plan to come back again and again!

We recently stayed at the Mast Farm Inn for part of our motorcycle tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Originally, we only planned to stay for 2 nights. We crashed on the motorycle on our 2nd day. My husband had to be hospitalized for 2 days and then was not released to travel back home for 2 more days. The family and employees of Mast Farm Inn were so helpful to me during this time. If it wasn't for their support and help, I don't know what I would have done. They picked me up from the hospital after my husband was admitted, made breakfast 'to go' for me to take him in the hospital, constantly checked on his condition, helped load the crashed bike into our trailer, unhitched the trailer from our truck so that I could drive back to the hospital for visits and to pick him up. When he was discharged, they moved us to the 'Blacksmith Shop' because he could not climb stairs and the room served our needs the best for his recovery prior to traveling home. This family of innkeepers truly cares about making the experience of their guests the best it can be -- even in such extraordinary circumstances as we had. They went above and beyond our expectations of any B&B. We will definitely return again -- only without a motorcycle next time!

My husband and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary at the Mast Farm Inn. It was our first weekend getaway in over seven years, and our first stay at a B&B. Our expectations were extremely high, and The Mast Farm Inn exceeded them by a mile. The inn is located in a most idyllic spot. I was charmed by the Victorian architecture of the inn, and the beautiful old trees, patches of wildflowers, and mountain views that surround it. My husband was charmed by the nearby line of porsches, available for daily rentals through the inn. Upon arrival, we were upgraded (at no charge) to one of the inn’s cabins for our weekend stay. It allowed us exceptional privacy, and we were very comfortable in this cozy, rustic cabin. We enjoyed one dinner and two breakfasts during our stay. The food was plentiful, filling, and scrumptious. Most impressive was the chef’s conscientious effort to accommodate my severe allergy to nuts. She prepared my food separately and provided me with alternative dishes, when necessary. All of the staff at the Mast Farm Inn treated us just as well. They informed of us nearby outdoor activities to our liking and entertained us in the evenings with pleasant conversations on the inn’s wrap-around porch.

We will agree that the rooms are very lovely, and that breakfast was well prepared and presented. However, there were no special comforts provided; no snacks, no afternoon wine (unless you paid extra), not so much as a glass of cold water. By 7:30 PM none of the innkeepers was present. The second night, a bat was somehow able to get into the inn. Since no one else was on site, my husband and I separately called the innkeepers, who told us that someone would come by to remove the bat. We think someone came in several hours later, but no one informed us as to the status of the creature and so we remained prisoners in our room. We contacted the innkeepers by letter upon our arrival home, but have heard nothing in response.

Innkeeper Response
Many of the reviews here speak of our natural generosity, and the great care we take in all things big and small. We hope you will read beyond here to other reviews which are a significantly more accurate reflection of our services and dedication. Dear Sadly Dissapointed, We have socials on weekends where we offer guests champagne, snacks, appetizers, often have live music etc... If a guest wants wine from the bar at other times it is room service and billed as we do not run an open bar for the inn guests. You had water and ice in your room, and there are always fresh baked items near the front desk. When you arrived, you did not have a reservation, as such nothing was prepared for your arrival. One of us is always here from 6AM-10PM 7 Days a Week. We had a family reunion to celebrate our son’s birth and baptism, knew that we would not present, and advised you of this before you checked-in. Because of that, and because you indicated you wanted a bargain, we offered you, at check-in, a 30% discount on our least expensive room and then offered you for that 30% discounted rate a free upgrade to any room; including the most expensive one at twice the price, which you selected. You paid $135 which included breakfast for two for a $259 room, yet you sent us a letter asking for a full refund. When you called about the bat, My husband & I were at the family gathering 30 minutes away. We sent someone who arrived in less than 10 minutes, and we left our reunion to arrive within 30 minutes. We heard the bat in the hall bathroom, removed it, saw your lights off and thought it best not to disturb you because we thought you were sleeping. While in the course of visiting anywhere something can go wrong, it is usually one thing; when we see a litany of complaints and a guest requests a full refund, in a context such as this, we do not provide one.

How can you say the Mast Inn will be your fondest memory of a vacation? Stay there and then you will drive 150 miles out of your way to return for one more night so you have fond memories of the area. We came to the Blue Ridge Mountains area for a week of Bed and Breakfast's so we could be pampered. Looking through sites we saw the Mast Farm Inn but did not plan on staying there as we thought we would not be near. But as circumstances had it we just stumbled by and asked if there were rooms available. Sandra kindly offered us a few possibilities and we immediately booked a room and made reservations for dinner. Dinner was SUPERB! The waitress was so pleasant and the food so good you wanted to lick your lips. When we had the choice of Desert the Tirasmu and Drunken Fruit Cake were delicious also. The room "Miss Allie" was spotless and enjoying the old magazines provided was a treat. The breakfast the next morning was so good that I had to tell my friend a caterer in Palm Beach about it. We left wishing we would have stayed longer. After having a bad experience in near by Blowing Rock the next day we ran away to a cabin in the mountains far away from the tourist trap place we stayed at in Blowing Rock. But we wanted GREAT food, a good bed , nice proprietors and an ending to a vacation that we would smile at. So we drove a circle of 150 miles to return to the Mast Farm Inn for a night before we had to fly back to the Bahamas. We were lucky to get the last room "The Woodworker Shop" and enjoyed another excellent dinner and breakfast. We so enjoyed visiting with everyone there that we felt like family. The service was the BEST we had in the area and the food was superb. Thank You to the entire staff at the Mast Farm Inn for making our vacation one to remember with joy and a reason to return. We will be back! Ginny & Richard

My husband and I recently held our nuptials at the Mast Farm Inn. The setting for the ceremony was very romantic, in addition, our small guest list enabled us to dine privately within the Inn. We, as with our family and friends, received impeccable service and the food was incredible. The on-site cabins were perfect accommodations for larger families who joined us for the ceremony. Overall, we were very pleased with the entire weekend and can't wait to celebrate our first anniversary with a stay back a the Inn.

My wife and I made our reservations with Sandra. She made sure of dietary needs, specific requests all up front. The attention to detail was amazing. Our stay in the Elizabeth Grey Vining Room was delightful. The gourmet dinning and breakfast impeccable. We will stay at Mast Farm Inn again in the future. We can't wait for another break to be pampered by the friendly family and staff of the Mast Farm Inn.

Being a frequent visitor of numerous Bed and Breakfast's all over the country, I knew the Mast Farm Inn would be special; however, it exceeded all of my expectations. I was upgraded "free of charge" to a cottage upon my arrival because the hostess thought I would really like it and it would be more private for my getaway. The food, friendliness, setting, and service all were outstanding.

Thank you all so much for making our stay perfect again. As usual the gourmet breakfasts were scrumptious, the room beautifully appointed and clean as a whistle, and the Deschamps family and their wonderful staff friendly, caring, and helpful. We are looking forward to seeing you again this summer.

A Christmas present from our 6 children/spouses; my husband and myself had a wonderfully relaxing time. We stayed up on Raspberry Hill (an upgrade from Maple Springs cottage) and enjoyed being in our "own little world". Our kids are the best, and so are the staff at Mast Farm Inn. Please don't change anything. You are doing it ALL right!

I have never written a review before - but this place is FANTASTIC!! My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend in one of the cottages and had the most amazing time. We had the utmost privacy and the hottub under the stars is the most romantic thing I have ever experienced. The people, food and wine made a lasting impression. I look forward to going back soon. LOVED IT!

Hi Sandra and Danielle and everyone else at the Inn that made our stay so remarkable, Tim and I cannot thankyou all enough for everything you did to make our stay the best it could be given the fact that Tim came down with the flu on tuesday. I cannot believe that you made us homemade chicken soup!!! How thoughtful was that. The fact that you had all our needs met with things for us to do when we got there was wonderful. I especially liked the little goody bag with homemade sugar cookies and candy and the cute bottles of wine. The brochures ear marked with ideas of things to do was great. And the breakfast every morning...OH MY GOSH... it was scrumptous!!! I looked forward to the coffee basket at my door every morning so I could enjoy a cup of coffe while getting ready. I could go on and on and believe me I have with all my friends since we have been back. I am already thinking about when we can come back again. We have stayed at alot of BandB's but this by far was the BEST!! TandD

I cannot wait to get back to this special place I never even new existed! Valle Crucis is absolutely charming...and Mast Farm Inn even more so! For some reason, it makes you feel as though you've "come back home" to this place, and the visit is too short. It's the whole package... for relaxing, re-connecting, and recharging your batteries. The hospitality is outstanding, and at the same time seems effortless. Sandra and family know how to do it! Compliments to the kitchen! The dining experience is an affordable luxury; fresh, organic, and truly gourmet without being pretentious. We will be back, and take a Porshe for a spin!

The special that was offered was fantastic including the price, room, wonderful staff and of course the amazing dinner and breakfast. We live in Boone, not more than a stone's throw from the Inn, but felt like we were far from it all. We definitly will return!!

I was looking online for a bed & breakfast for a valentines day getaway for my wife and I. I was already aware of the Mast general store so that piqued my interest. After looking at the pictures on the internet I was sure this would be a place she would enjoy, and we both were thrilled with the Inn and the very caring people who run the Inn. We had a great experience on our first stay in a bed & breakfast. Thanks for everything Mast Farm Inn.

My husband and I, along with our ten year old son, stayed at the Mast Farm Inn the weekend of February 8, 2008. We were in desperate need of some time away from our normal schedules and routines. The service, food, and accomodations at the Mast Farm Inn were absolutely delightful, and we will definitely return. We live in Charlotte, and our stay at Mast Farm was like taking a step back in time, but with every comfort of home--minus the TV and computer. We were originally booked in the Blacksmith Shop, but were upgraded to the Granary, a larger cottage. Since we were traveling with our son, it was great to have the additional space, common area, and privacy. We had dinner at the inn on Friday night, and although the meal was not inexpensive, the food was fresh and very well prepared. It put me in mind of a wonderful home cooked meal. The inn also has a really good selection of beer and wine. The atmosphere and service at dinner were also delightful. The breakfasts at the inn was just as good. The food was excellent, and the breakfasts were substantial enough to hold us though the entire day. Without being asked, our server made some adjustments to our son's breakfasts that she thought he would appreciate--and sure enough, she got it right on the money.

Well, I wasn't trully eager for anyone to wake me if it was a dream. My husband and I were given the weekend for Christmas '07 and unable to go before now. It was such a blessing for us to be alone and reconnect. Every aspect of our stay was personalized even down to the menus for dinner. The food was amazing--gourmet, healthy and so fresh. They paid attention to allergies I had and made chocolate cake without nuts just for me! We were always greeted by the inn keepers and staff with smiles. There was such a warm family atmosphere. I can't express how fantastic it was for this mom of four to spend 3 days without making a bed, preparing a meal or worrying over laundry. We felt right at home in the WoodWork Shop- had no trouble slipping right into those high thread-count sheets and cover up with the softest down comforter. Oh, there is really to much to mention. We had such a wonderful time falling in love again with each other and with this new beautiful piece of heaven on earth.

This was our second time to the Mast Farm Inn and we will be back next year. We stayed in the Woodwork Shop and loved everything. Sandra, her family, and staff worked very hard to make our stay feel so relaxed and enjoyable. For instance, my husband is very simple when it comes to food and even though the breakfast was phenomenal he just didn't want to try new things, so the staff offered to fix him a plain breakfast (they even put this on file for our next visit). Don't forget to visit with Mr. Henri over at the Granery and check out the fleet of Porsche cars. He was so sweet to take the time to chat with us, even though we didn't rent one of the cars (maybe next time). One word describes our weekend...Perfection! Perfect location, Perfect accomadations, Perfect Food, and Perfect People that we now call friends!

We needed a quick weekend getaway and The Mast Farm Inn provided us the peprfect place. Being just two hours from Charlotte, NC, enabled us to get there early enough on Friday to check in, enjoy dinner and enjoy a peaceful night of sleep. We stayed in the main house, Miss Allie's room. Each morning we were left a coffee basket outside our door to help get us started for the day. A nice touch. The first day we did not leave the room until late in the afternoon. We talked to each other, read books and magazines, napped and finally bathed and showered. There were no interuptions from our two big dogs or any other of life's special events. Our friends joined us for dinner Saturday night and the dinner was exquisite. The menu is specially amde for each evening and includes the guests as part of the fare. If you do not like the idea of being in the main house, there are also some of the original buildings available for your own separate entity. The food, service and atmosphere provided by this family run inn is just top notch.

This is a very nicely restored farm with beautifully appointed rooms. However, there are a few bumps in the road. The evening dining hours are limited and non-existent on certain days. Its easy to make a reservation and not realize this fact. The nearest place to eat is then several miles away. The directions we got from the staff were vague and so we had difficulty finding their recommendation. Breakfast is a one option affair that was decidely odd. Good coffee and a single pastry, followed by a strange omelette with corn and covered in a ? sauce. All of it somewhat cool. Just edible. This was accompanied on the same plate with a piece of fried bratwurst. Strange and inedible by my standards. I asked for and got a single additional biscuit which was good. Jam was not homemade but from the usual single serve plastic. So all in all, quite a mixed review. Dr RH

We stayed in the Loom House, a log cabin set next to the main house. With a fire in the fireplace and the cozy bed upstairs, it was a wonderful setting for our anniversary. The old cabin is very historic and is purported to be the oldest house in the county. We dined at the restaurant, sitting outside in the garden. Breakfast in the dining room was wonderful. The barn across the street was the setting for some live mountain music at night, with wine served at the rustic outdoor bar. What a great surprise that was! Overall, it was a very memorable experience.
