I've been meaning to write this review for a year - my husband and I went to Lovill House for our honeymoon in October 2008, and it was just perfect. Scott and Anne can give recommendations and exact directions for whatever your heart desires - including, for us, the perfect 5-mile scenic hike off the Blue Ridge Parkway and "the best way to see the 'face' of Grandfather Mountain." We highly recommend their "stress reduction package" with massage. The rooms (we stayed in Lenoir) are old-fashioned, lovely and romantic but with every comfort; the gardens are gorgeous, breakfast was delicious and friendly, the whole feel is elegant without being stuffy. We really liked that Anne and Scott have their own separate "quarters" so it feels less like walking in on someone's home than a typical B & B does. Just perfect. You'll love it. - Rachel and Kevin

We stayed at the Lovill House Inn for two nights in August 2009. Perfect location in Boone, NC. The room we occupied was called "The Spring House" which is a small cottage behind the house. It was lovely! Very CLEAN and cozy. The grounds are covered with flowers and the front porch of the house was delightful to sit on every morning while drinking coffee waiting for the fabulous breakfast that the Innkeepers prepare each morning. They do a wonderful job making you feel welcome and special. Can't wait to return! Thank you Scott and Anne!

Lovill House is owned and operated by a couple who is meticulous in all aspects of running a B&B from the details of appearance, to creating the "down home" feeling one would expect from a Southern B&B experience. It is tastefully decorated keeping the elegant historic look and feel combined with upgraded and modern accommodations. Location in a serene setting set back from the main highway creates a perfect venue to enjoy a quiet evening on the expansive wrap around deck with a glass of provided wine; or a cup of coffee provided in hot mugs in the early morning. Breakfast featured unique culinary tastes that presented traditional breakfast foods in new and different dishes! Would highly recommend and we hope to visit again in the near future.

Lovill House was delightful. The location was close to a major road and suffered from traffic noise, but the room was good and grounds were spectacular. The innkeepers were very efficient and attentive. Midway through our stay, my wife had a short hospital stay, and the innkeepers were very concerned and helped us in every way. I would recommend the Lovill House to anyone who wants to stay in Boone.

We discovered Lovill House Inn when we came to Boone with our daughter to look at Appalachian State in March 2009. She fell in love with the college and Boone and our family truly enjoyed the hospitality provided by Scott and Anne. The Inn is lovely, relaxing, and welcoming. The rooms are charming and the breakfasts are wonderful. It is very convenient to the campus. Our daughter has decided to attend Appalachian and we returned to Lovill House to stay in June 2009 during new student and parent orientation. My husband and I have already made our reservations at Lovill House Inn for parent's weekend in September. We highly recommend it to other Appalachian parents.

We stayed at the Lovill House Inn for a family weekend birthday celebration and had a fantastic time! The inn with its beautifully landscaped flowers and gardens, the alluring wrap-around porch with its country rockers and the warm and inviting interior helped set the tone for a casual, relaxing atmosphere. Scott and Anne were wonderful hosts who were attentive to all our needs and provided little 'extras' like turn down bed service and fresh flowers in the room. The breakfasts were well presented, varied, tasty, and delicious. They treated us like 'family' and we definitely will return again when we want to celebrate a special occasion or just want to get away to relax, recharge, and renew ourselves. The first time we visited Anne and Scott at the Lovill House Inn, we thought we had found heaven – the warmth, friendliness, hospitality, and comfortable surroundings! But of course, first impressions can fool you. The second time we visited them, our first impressions were confirmed. What an outstanding location – what an outstanding host and hostess! Anne and Scott will make you forget what you’re escaping from. If you want solitude – they will let you have it. If you want to know “what’s happening,” they have all the answers. I’m sure everyone says they treat you like family. No, they treat you better than family – all the warmth and love without the dysfunctionality! Anne and Scott know how to make you feel welcome. When you stay at Lovill House, you’re not staying at a B&B – you’re visiting Anne and Scott, and they will go out of their way to make you feel like part of the family.

There is great attention to detail, from adequate lighting throughout the inn to free beverages, including wines. The grounds and gardens are beautiful and well-maintained. Your rooms are aired out while you are away enjoying all that the mountains in the Boone/Blowing Rock area has to offer. You will also appreciate Anne's delicious breakfasts. We visit at least once a year and are always welcomed like long time friends. We are certain your stay will be will be a wonderful experience if it's in the innkeepers' power. Gene and Sandy

This is our choice for the romantics. It has its own parking apron, is level in its approach, exceptionally quiet, yet close to the inn for all your needs. A private deck and year round propane fireplace help make it a special choice!
The Baldwin room has a king sized bed, and gets alot of light. Sofa couch faces the TV/VCR Cabinet. Room also has a working desk, full private bath, WiFi, in room heat control and overhead fan. Light and airy, with queen size bed oak four post bed, with a sofa that folds out to a twin bed, private bath, TV/VCR, WiFi and desk work area. Delightful and cheerful.

Linville has a full private bath, large walk in closet, WiFi capability, and in room heat control and overhead fans. Great for those who like to stretch out or for long stays. Perennial flowers abound during 3 seasons in our 12 gardens. Come, relax, reconnect. Steps away from the stream, swing gazebo and hammock. Choose your spot!
A favorite location most of the year...our wraparound porch with numerous rockers. Bring your favorite book and drink from the kitchen fridge. Listen to the songbirds. Meet new friends or just relax and recharge. Always a nice breeze. The Limelight Hydrangea tree outside of the inn in over 130 years old. Our inn is well shielded from both noise and the summer heat. Shaded areas abound.
Our old working barn dates to the early 1900's. Over 3 acres of walking, gardens, water fall and stream, the barn is surronded by picnic table and a swing gazebo. It's location gives it a commanding view of the inn and out buildings. We are surronded by 8 acres of wooded ridges on three sides. Very quiet, secluded, and romantic.
