This is our 3rd time staying here. We love, love, love it in the cottages. We always get the wine package they offer, it's a little extra money but well worth it. They also always put together a little something extra for our son who is 9, a bag full of goodies for him at no charge! The beds are sooooo comfortable. Tom and Wanda just know how to put those extra touches on everything right down to the wonderful bath towels!!! In a great location too, not to far from Lancaster or Reading. We make it a family trip every year to come here and it always is a wonderful time. Sandra W.

Hello Tom & Wanda, My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We have visited many B&B's and the Ametist Inn was one of the finest. From the momemt we signed in until the time we left we felt catered to. We received a welcoming gift upon arrival and when we left we were given a "thank you " gift. Food was outstanding and our stay was wonderful. Tom was an outstanding Inn Keeper. I would be happy to recommend staying at this wonderful B&B. Diane & Ken Nelson

My boyfriend and I came to the Amethyst Inn and stayed in the Garnet room to celebrate our 6 year anniversary. We had such a wonderful weekend! This bed and breakfast is very quaint and charming...the perfect weekend getaway to relax and enjoy yourself. The room was very large, with a king size featherbed that was so comfortable! There was a gas fireplace in front of the bed and a 2 person jacuzzi tub in the corner of the room. It had an amazing steam shower that really helped us to unwind! The private balcony was large, with a table for 2 and a porch swing that overlooked a pretty little landscaped backyard. Tom, Wanda and Kristin were very accommodating and friendly. We were given a packet of information that included maps with shops, restaurants, and sights to see. We highly recommend bringing a GPS along if you're not familiar with the area. The breakfast was so delicious...we had a yummy fruit cocktail to start, followed by warm pumpkin cranberry bread and strawberry almond muffins, then a spinach and cheddar quiche that was truly excellent. You then had the option of hot or cold cereal. Tom waited on us and he was such an entertaining host! Great sense of humor and genuinely nice guy. The antique shops in the area are endless and offer a variety of really unique finds. There are plenty of restaurant options in Adamstown itself or in Reading (10 min away) and Lancaster (20 min away). We recommend trying the Black Horse in Adamstown if you're looking for really excellent fine dining in a casual atmosphere - the service was excellent and the food was delicious. They have an extensive wine and martini list that was very good as well. The Amethyst Inn gives you a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert. I could go on and on. I really can't say enough about how nice the bed and breakfast was and how much we really enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend staying here. Especially in Autumn when all the leaves are changing - so beautiful! Bring your camera!

This was our first B&B experience, and were celebrating our anniversary. We wanted to try something other than a hotel. The Cobalt Room at the Amethyst was much more than we expected. The decor, hardwood floors, and fireplace made us feel at home. The service was excellant. First impressions mean so much. We were guests, and not just another couple paying for a room. We will be back to that area, and Amethyst will be our only choice for accomodations. Thank you Wanda, Tom and Kristin. Tim & Debbie Yeager, Sharpsville PA

The Adamstown Inn is wonderful B&B. The breakfast of fresh baked muffins, scones, apple crisp, baked strawberries and other fresh breakfast treats are exquisite. The Inn is filled with an amazing mixture of antiques and glassware. We felt special with a gift left on our pillow every night. Tom and Wanda's hospitality, attention to detail and personal touch made us feel so welcomed. We look forward to our next visit. Roger & Eileen

My husband and I just returned from a three-night stay to observe our wedding anniversary. The Amethyst Inn was truly a wonderful place to stay, and our room (Cobalt Room) was spacious, comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. The warm hospitality of the innskeepers and staff made us feel at home and welcome. It was so nice to return to the inn following a long day of shopping and sightseeing. There was no detail that went unnoticed. The breakfasts were delicious with scrumptious homemade pastries, fruit, cereals, etc. My husband and I are not into "antiquing", but chose this inn on the centralized location and what we read and saw on the Internet regarding the Adamstown Inns. We were definitely not disappointed and look forward to returning. Our thanks to Tom, Wanda, Kristin and Jean.

We had a lovely stay for 2 days while we explored the area antique shops. The bed and jacuzzi in the Garnet Suite were very comfortable, the breakfast each day delicious. I enjoyed the private balcony for coffee and reading in the morning.I highly recommend the local brewing pub for dinner. It was a much needed quiet little break and we would like to return for another stay.

We were able to secure a room at the last minute for our weekend get away. The Stork room was cozy and the nightly treats on the bed were a nice addition. The hall bath was ours alone and the bathrobes were very nice. The only negative has to do with having to go to a different house for breakfast. Especially the morning it was pouring rain. It would have been nice to have breakfast downstairs in the beautiful dining room. The breakfast is served by the owners and has a high tea feel. Delicious baked goods, cereals, coffee and juices. It was very tasty but feels more continental than what we are accustomed to at a B and B. I would definitely recommend the local brewing company for dinner. The steaks and fish were wonderful. We would stay again but perhaps at the inn where breakfast is served if available. Thanks so much for a relaxing weekend.

My husband and I just returned from a 2 night getaway at the beautiful amethyst Inn. We stayed in the Cobalt room and enjoyed the romatic antique feel to this very spacious room. The furiniture fit well with the era of the house yet the jacuzzi tub was a nice modern relaxing touch. The personal touches and friendly staff made us feel special. There are 6 rooms in this inn and 5 were filled yet we didn't hear a sound. The breakfasts were fresh, yummy and a pleasant way to start your day - good coffee too! The location is perfect for searching the numerous antique shops in the area as well as taking a 20 minute drive to Lancaster or 10 minute drive to Reading. We would recommend this inn for honeymooners, celebrating an anniversary or older couples looking for a quiet relaxing time. This is not a town for young, party type of people (and probably wouldn't be welcomed). Kristen was fantastic and we want to thank her for her great care.

My parents and I stayed at the Amethyst Inn recently for my mom's birthday, and we had the best time! Everyone was so friendly and helpful- we were there on a weekday and my parents received a room upgrade when we told them it was her birthday! They had never stayed in a bed and breakfast before, and they absolutely loved their beautifully decorated room, complete with fireplace and huge jacuzzi tub! Breakfast was DELICIOUS. It was quiet and so relaxing- perfect for a stress free getaway. The restaurant book downstairs was super helpful, and the living room was sooo cozy after a long day of shopping. We had the best time and will definitely be back! Thanks for a perfect stay!

This was our first bed and breakfast for my wife and I and we could not be happier. Everything was all that we could ask it to be. The room was super and was very quiet. We did not know what to expect for breakfast but we were delighted each morning as we were treated like royalty. Tom, Wanda and Kristin were great and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with Tom and the helpful suggestions he made when we asked about restaurants and for ideas as to what to see and do. Thanks Tom and Wanda. You definitely deserve our highest ratings!

We booked 2 nights ... could only stay one ... our home ran out of water and we decided we HAD to go home ... we notified the innkeeper and was sent a partial gift cert. I felt the second night should be refunded 100% ... we understood why they didn't ... live and learn ... our door would not close securely ... I see the need to keep it all "original" but if the door is broke and only held shut by a deadbolt ... sorry ... FIX IT ... plus the hallway light was on all night long which shone in our room because of the broken door ... the knob literally was wobbling ... well that kept me from sleeping securely ... I have a gift cert. if anyone would like to buy it from me ... it's for $75 ...

Innkeeper Response
We are very sorry the guest need to depart early, but they left at approximately 7 pm, which did not allow us time to re-rent the room. We did send a gift certificate for half of the rental cost. We were also unaware of the issues with the room door which we would have fixed immediately or offered them different accommodations. The door is the original 10 foot door and the screws securing the door had become loose. The door was fixed as soon as we became aware of the problem. It is our policy to address any issue and try to resolve all concerns immediately. We are very sorry the guest did not mention their concerns while they were staying with us.

Our stay in the Ruby Suite was superb. Much more than we expected. The huge bed was full of beautiful pillows and a big soft fluffy feather comforter. By the bed was a wonderful cd player and romantic music to listen to while we soaked in the great big 2 person jacuzzi tub while peeking at one of the two fireplaces !!!!!!!!! Our own private entrance was quite nice and convenient to parking. The Brandy was there to enjoy before bed with the treats left out for us if we got hungry. The second bathroom with the steam shower was pure luxury. Our breakfast was served in a beautiful diningroom by friendly smiling faces each morning. We felt like royalty and enjoyed a very romantic 3 days. When we were ready to leave Cecil gave us a goodbye kiss. Thank you for true bed and breakfast hospitality and more. I'm sure we will see you again. Peggy and Ronald from Maryland

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our suite and the decor of all the rooms. We stayed in the cobalt room and it was extremely well suited for our needs. The jacuzzi tub was the best and very relaxing. I especially loved the porch that was attached to our room fully equiped with a porch swing. The rest of the house was charming and peaceful. Our breakfast was exception and part of that is due to the service of the owner who engages all his guests in wit and banter. Wanda's breakfast choices are delicious and Tom's humor is just what you need to get your morning started. My husband and I will return again and again because we feel at home there. Thank you Tom and Wanda for such a restfull and blessed weekend.

We stayed in the Regar Room in the original Adamstown Inn. The room was wonderful. Even though the bed was comfortable once you got in it I needed a boost to get in. The jacuzzi was wonderful! We used it every night! We had a wonderful stay but would warn guests that to get to the parking lot you have to walk up and down a very steep hill. Breakfast is served at the "main" inn which is about a block away but you have to climb up steep steps to get into the "main" inn. We do not have mobility issues so it was not a problem for us. We enjoyed Tom & Wanda's knowledge about the different antique shops.

My husband and I chose to stay at the Amythyst Inn for our honeymoon. We have never been to a bed and breakfast and weren't quite sure what to expect. Tom checked us in and was very helpful and friendly. We had paid for the Topaz room, but were kindly "upgraded" to the Jade room with a king size bed which was an extra special blessing! There was water, coffee, tea and hot chocolate we were able to help ourselves to at all times. Each morning we were served a delicious variety of foods, from fresh fruit to muffins, breads, and pastries. The food and service was excellent. We definitely plan to revisit the Amythyst Inn. I highly recommend it; we were very impressed. Location is great also, not far from Reading or Lancaster.

Recently stayed in the Redcay Room for our 20th Anniversary. Room exceeded all of our expectations. Room temperature was perfect. Numerous games and puzzles to keep the mind from being idle. King-size bed was covered with pillows of any texture to meet any demand. Bathroom and Jacuzzi were extremely roomy. Owners met and greeted numerous times throughout our stay. Breakfast variety may not meet everyone's delight, but if you left breakfast hungry, it was your own fault. Great add on packages for your stay.
