The John F Craig House is home to Barb and Chip. They invite you to share their home with them. They are genuine and authentic. They make you feel welcome, they know who you are, and make sure you know everyone else who staying in their home. You know that they are there to help you in any way possible. Their rooms are comfortable to stay in, as if they slept there and knew what you needed. They are the bar that other B&B's will need to reach
We recently spent a few nights here while visiting with our children/grandchildr en. It's close to the beach, town, good restaurants, and the Coast Guard Station. Breakfast was served every morning, and the scents while cooking always peaked our appetites. Every evening there was a reception, that we missed to spend time with the family, but if the breakfast is any indication, it was delicious. Everything was very clean and cozy, Barbara and Chip were fantastic hosts. If we are ever in the area again, we will stay here again, no doubt. And although it's a B&B, they have free wireless and in room refrigerator and coffee maker!!! View Reviewer Info

Anyone out there reading this....you will not be let down if you stay here!
My husband and I returned to Cape May for our second visit on 7/31/09. We chose to stay at the John F. Craig house for the second time because our first experience was so positively memorable. We were not let down either! The yummy breakfasts, service with a smile, and clean accommodations still existed.
This time our best friends joined us for the weekend to celebrate a 46th b-day. However, they stayed at a different B&B. After telling them about all of the great accommodations at the John F. Craig house our friends wanted to take a visit. On our last day of the stay the Innkeeper, Barbara, graciously let them take a tour of the house. After a comfortably-lengthy conversation with Barbara our friends immediately signed up to stay for a long weekend the following year. We are already looking forward to our return next year. What's better than great restaurants, good shopping, romantic bike rides, beach bathing, and stubbling into the same B&B with your best friends after dancing the night away at the Ugly Mug????
Thank you Barbara and Chip for making our stay a memorable one yet again!

My husband and I stayed at the John F. Craig House this past November. It was actually a surprise my husband had planned for me. And what a surprise it was because I had the best time ever. The house was so perfectly decorated with Victorian style everything and felt so cozy and beautiful at the same time. We got to start our day by waking up to a wonderful breakfast, which was different (and absolutely delicious) each day. After stuffing ourselves with the tasty breakfast, we would head out to walk in the town and visit all the cute shops there. You don't need your car once you get there. Then we would head back to the John F. Craig House and help ourselves to the kitchen stacked goodies and bring the homemade cookies, chips, and soda down to the beach, which is only a block away, and walk and fish on the beach. At dusk, we would head back to the John F. Craig house for some of Barbara's special sangria and yummy, freshly made snacks. The John F. Craig House catered to me and my husband. I loved the Victorian decor that Barbara added and my husband loved the pictures of the "good looking ladies" that Chip added. I loved the delicious variety of food and my husband loved the yummy snacks that we could just take to go. I had to buy Barbara's cook book because the food was just too good. And yes, the house is just as beautiful as the pictures. The John F. Craig House is so warm, beautiful, has lots of rooms, a well stocked library, cozy front porch and even plenty of chocolate in your own room. Barbara and Chip did a wonderful job and made it an absolutely wonderful stay for both me and my husband.

A terrific long-weekend in Cape May, made especially so by the congeniality and friendliness of our John f. Craig House hosts, Chip and Barbara. Each day started with a gourmet breakfast (the French toast with orange butter is to die for) and the evening with "punch on the porch." Barb's love of her town is evident in her commentary about the best spots intown for food and entertainment. Our room, the Emma Camp, was cozy and comfortable, tucked away in a quiet niche on the first floor. It was nicely appointed with a SUPER COMFY queen bed, TV, "fireplace." It adjoins an enclosed porch with a doorway to the outside, giving us a sitting room and a "private" entrance. Neat! Also at our disposal were bikes, beach towels and chairs and an outside shower. This is the place to stay.

My Mom and I were planning a mother-daughter getaway to Cape May. I found The John F Craig House online. The rooms and inn looked lovely on the web site so we decided to stay there. The inn is that lovely and more. When we arrived, Barbara greeted us at the door with a warm smile. Chip was quietly setting up the porch for afternoon refreshments. Barbara brought us in, showed us around and then brought us to our room. We stayed in the Emma Camp room. Its on the first floor, very convenient to the small kitchen on the first floor (stocked with refreshments and snacks) as well as the common areas, while remaining quiet and private. The room was so inviting. Beautifully appointed in Victorian style. Immaculate. Comfortable. Perfect. After we settled in, we met the other folks on the front porch for sangria. Barbara joined us and provided us with a verbal tour of the local eateries and some fun things to experience. Her recommendations were spot on! We first ate dinner at the Merion Inn (wonderful atmosphere, yummy food, gracious hostesses and servers). The second night we had drinks and tapas at Martini Beach (a lovely restaurant/bar) right on Beach Avenue. Great laid back atmosphere, delicious food and great martinis!!! Back to the Craig House. There are wonderful pictures on the walls... very Victorian, eclectic, interesting and fun. Barbara and Chip have a library complete with videos that you can borrow for your room during your stay. Breakfast each morning in the dining room was wonderful. We were first treated to the house specialty of Chip's waffles. Warm blueberries, spiced apples and such to put on top. The second morning, Barbara made a wonderful egg casserole dish and other delicacies... but the best was her special coffee cake (definitely worthy of seconds!). I recommend the John F Craig House without hesitation. Perfect inn, Perfect location, Perfect hosts!! When I go back to Cape May, there is no other place that I want to stay. View Reviewer Info

The John F. Craig house is a very special place, thanks to Chip and Barbara Masemore. They have spent hundreds of hours restoring the gorgeous old inn, decorating it with their personal collections and going over all the details with a fine-tooth comb. From the room presentations to the elaborate breakfasts and tea times, Chip and Barbara have worked hard to ensure their guests receive a first-class experience.
There are so many details that make this Cape May Bed and Breakfast a wonderful place to stay, it's difficult to mention them all. My wife and I appreciated the guest pantry that was available 24 hours a day, stocked with all sorts of teas, hot cocoa, soda, bottled water, snacks and even homemade cookies and trail mix. The bowls of M&M's on the dining room table were also a nice touch. Housekeeping was impeccable and we loved the fancy soaps and chocolate mints in our room.
The furnishings were tremendous, with Victorian pieces everywhere the eyes roamed. Both Barbara and Chip were extremely friendly and easy to talk to, graciously passing along stories and information about their 150 old inn. The sun room was perfect for colder mornings and when the weather cooperated, coffee on the spacious front porch was a pleasure.
I could go on and on about what a special place Barbara and Chip have created, in the John F. Craig house, but wouldn't you rather book a room and find out for yourself? I promise, you won't be disappointed! View Reviewer Info

Thanks to Barbara & Chip for paying such close attention to details to make their B&B a cut above the rest. My husband & I were so pleased to find our room every bit as comfortable as it was beautiful. Shelves, outlets, footrests, tv, fridge, make-up mirror, and other comforts of home were artfully incorporated into our lovely antique-filled room. We enjoyed the many gorgeous yet functional common areas -- closed and open porches, parlor, library. On Saturday night we were treated to a program from a local birding expert which was followed by a guided walk on Sunday morning. We experienced comfortable surroundings, lovely people, & great food! We had two nights to "get away" from the kids, so we had to make it count. I did lots of research to make sure this B&B had positive reviews and excellent location. We were not disappointed. Chip greeted us first with his warm handshake and explanation of all of the necessary things we would need to know to make our short stay comfortable. We were to stay in the Emma Camp room, just large enough for the two of us, but cozy, immaculate and welcoming. The co-host, Barb, was equally welcoming and excellent at remembering all of the guests first names, introducing us all at every occasion that came up during breakfast, afternoon refreshments and just hanging out on the porch together. She was also very informative, as she explained all of our options within 3 blocks for dinner. Having been to Cape May only for day trips in the past, we needed guidance to get out of our usual safety zones, so we took all of her suggestions and were never disappointed.
We would definitely stay there again. View Reviewer Info
