We stayed for the weekend expecting to tour the area extensively, but , the accomodations were so wonderful, comfortable, scenic, we took delight in front of the fire for hours.
We were in the "mystic room" , a very high, I mean high, colonial four poster. Luckily a step stool for we vertically challenged ! The room was spotless, amenities plentiful. The host was a delight.Informative, not intrusive. Sherry and cookies, delicious breakfast, no, not considered continental. The whole weekend was perfect. I imagine in the summer it may be noisy with people walking the wharf below.
Do not hesitate, do not regard negative comments...some people you just can never please.
Thank you Diana, we will see you again !

My wife and I honeymooned at the Steamboat Inn this past May. On the positive side, the location is ideal. The inn is in the downtown area with many shops and restaurants in walking distance. The complimentary parking is helpful too, as this can be a real challenge in Mystic. It was well-kept and clean.
Unfortunately, the inn keeper needs to either take some customer service classes or hire someone to staff the desk who cares about the guests and can smile. My wife and I grew up in CT, so we know that we New Englanders are not always the warmest people, but if you're in the B&B business, you need to treat your guests well. We were surprised at how cold and indifferent she was throughout our stay.
While the rooms are pretty and clean, the walls are paper thin. We felt like we were sitting in the same room as the gentelman next door who had a chronic cough and over hear conversations next door.
Finally, every B&B we have stayed in has had at least one homemade offering for breakfast. Over the course of our stay, only one morning were we offered a single blueberry muffin -- no seconds. The remainder of our stay the breakfasts consisted of cereal, yogurt, stale bagels and some fruit. They need to do better than that.
We would not stay here again given the multiple disappointments mentioned above. There are too many other places to stay in the Mystic area. View Reviewer Info

My spouse and I stayed for three nights and tried out three rooms (our choice). The location is ideal for the surrounding shopping, dining, museums, and water attractions (the draw bridge right outside the back door was intriguing).
Two of the three rooms exceeded my expectations, with fantastic views of the river, cozy yet well laid out rooms, and clean quarters. Of these two, we most enjoyed the Annie Wilcox room, followed by the Summer Girl room. And don't let the names throw you. They are names of boats that have docked at the Steamboat Inn.
The third room (Valiant), which was significantly smaller with fewer amenities than the other two (no tub, no fireplace), was priced as high as the better rooms. The jetted shower was awkward and leaked through the door. This room needs to be improved or priced appropriately.
The staff was quite accommodating and responsive to our requests. The dining area is clean and comfortable, with tasty continental breakfast pastries and drinks. It is open 24-7 with drinks and cookies.
If you plan a trip to Connecticut or Rhode Island, and want some quiet, comfortable time with your significant other in a beautiful location, I highly recommend the Steamboat Inn in Mystic. View Reviewer Info
