The staff and the innkeepers were phenomenal and made us feel at home. The inn was a very quaint and cozy place to stay. Our room was gorgeous and super clean; and the food was incredible. The innkeepers Ed and Jen are wonderful hosts and made every aspect of the stay perfect. Jen and Ed couldn't have been any better. Their attention to detail was truly unmatched ...¿ The inn is centrally located in Southern Vermont which made our local trips easily accessible. It was a most enjoyable visit! Dave & Mia

My wife and i stayed here for our anniversary. We found the Inn a great place to really get away and relax. There is not much to do in the town but the hiking is great and 15 minute drive to the outlets for those who need it. The rooms were great and the owners were very accommodating. It is really a couples get-away place. Great hiking for every level right there. The dinner was good. The breakfast was really excellent! We had such a good time there and felt that we would go back. The owners are very knowledgeable about the area and can recommend fun things to do. Ultimately they want you to just relax. I would recommend this to any couple looking to get away from it all.

The rooms were well kept and beautiful though it was slightly warm inside them and the windows couldn't be opened which created an uncomfortable nights sleep. The Inn is RIGHT ON THE ROAD and the constant semi trucks that drive by throughout the night can wake the light sleeper. The surrounding area is beautiful though quite desolate. Unless you plan to pay $180 a night for dinner, good luck finding something to eat anywhere nearby. The local town is interesting and quaint yet you'll find yourself yearning for something to do by the end of the day and the fact that everything closes around 6PM doesn’t help the situation. This is not the place to stay if you need stimulus. Breakfast is tasty and the coffee is great. They have a nice little bar however, we felt pressured by the owners to have drinks. We were often pressured to buy full bottles. The atmosphere prior to dinner and during dinner came off as a bit snobbish. During most of our stay we felt uncomfortable, especially around the owners. Everything in the room was price marked, leaving you believing that their ultimate goal is to make money, not ensure your relaxation. The owners were ultimately nice but we felt uncomfortable around them. We believe the most successful Inns [for us] are the Inns that make you feel like family. This Inn didn’t have that “family” feel. We didn’t feel they’d be willing to go out of their way to meet any of our requests (and we didn’t have any). Overall, this is an average Inn and would be great for an older couple or novelist seeking to relax or write a novel. I would not recommend this Inn for a young couple seeking entertainment, stimulus, and a good eat.

We stayed 1 night in the Windham room on the 2nd floor (1 of 2 dogs-allowed rooms) which had a beautiful antique king bed, various other antiques, a gas fireplace and its own private deck. The bathroom was built into the eaves so it was narrow and dark, but serviceable. Room rate was $265/night including tax. The owners were very accomodating, easy-going and welcoming to both us and our dog. They put out a dog bed w/treats and an note from their dog regarding proper pooch etiquette - nice touches. We couldn't believe that our beautiful room w/antiques allowed dogs! The dinner menu is a bit limited but still featured choices for meateaters and a vegetarian dish. Dinner was good but not extraordinary. Breakfast was better and the omelets were the best we've ever had. There is a small bar area off of the dining rooms that looks right out of England in the 1600's. We weren't able to enjoy it b/c of the dog, so we sat outside on the lawn in adirondack chairs and the staff brought our drinks out to us there. They have a lovely inground pool (unheated) but the cold weather prevented us from using it. We had a very nice time and would highly recommend this inn.

Just what we pictured for the perfect Vermont country inn -- historic charm, comfy rooms, great food, with beautiful hiking trails and other activities close by.
