This was our 3rd stay at The Inn at Ellis River. The service was outstanding as always. The owners and staff are very accommodating and eager to please. The room was very clean and was always promptly cleaned the next day. The rooms were very cozy and added to our romantic weekend. The Inn has plenty for guests to do from watching movies in your room, relaxing in the hot tub, to playing pool, shooting darts, playing a game of checkers or chess in their very nice game/bar room. The icing on the cake is the personalized breakfast that is served each morning with a friendly smiling face. The bacon is out of this world. We had an unfortunate event in which our car broke down in which the car had to be toed home. Under the circumstances the innkeepers were extremely accommodating and even offered us to stay a couple of extra days if we chose. You will be very pleased with the outstanding Inn.

Our children surprised us with a 50th Anniversary Stay at Inn at Ellis River in New Hampshire. The Lord must have guided their search and choice. Our entire stay was perfect. We had a most restful time of renewal. The innkeepers were especially helpful in recommending local scenic routes beyond the usual. We hope to go again someday.

This was quite a charming inn, with great amenities... atrium hot tub, pub with darts/pool table and games on site, and delicious breakfasts. However, the only things that kept me from giving it top rating were such small things! It's a shame, with just a few touches it could be top rate. The afternoon "goodies" served I didn't deem even to be worth the calories, sorry to say. The lemon bars were the only one that tasted fresh or homemade. Now the warm spiced cider WAS delicious. As for the room, it was delightful, but our "mountain view" also included a parking lot view, and car alarms were going off early a.m., not very romantic, but what can ya do ? However, we chose this room, since as there were two of us, it included two chairs to sit by the fire.. unfortunately the rocking chair I had looked forward to has seen better days and was not comfy. I also had the opportunity to check out another room, and of the two chairs in it, one was practically falling apart and obviously not for sitting on, so there was no place to sit other than the beds, basically. Luckily, the inn was not full when I booked, so I asked for (and received, with no hassle) a discounted rate, and truthfully, that is about as high as I would have wanted to go for the room. Chris was delightful in every way!! Great service, smiling and helpful all the way!! There were numerous helpful boooks/mags about things to do, where to eat, etc. and the 24/7 coffee/tea was great, as well as fridge to store any snacks, ice, etc. Overall it was enjoyable and cozy but just a bit more attention to detail would have enhanced the experience so much more. there were candles in the pub, etc. but none were ever lit that I saw, no fresh flowers or any special touches, but again, I would recommend it.

My husband and I were looking for a place that would give us quiet, peaceful surroundings with beautiful views of the mountains but got the added relaxation of a river that flowed right outside our room (Sparkling Cascade, each room named for an area waterfall). The second weekend in May was perfect for this as the snow had melted and the river was flowing. Knowing how we love the sounds of oceans and flowing rivers this room we chose was perfect for us we left the room door open all night to hear the river. Frank and Lyn and staff were very helpful in choosing our water fall adventure we decided to do. After a full day of hiking the falls to come back to a beautiful room and the jacuzzi was heaven. The little extras in the room from the trail mix and special candy to the goat milk soaps and aroma scent for the jacuzzi ended the day on a perfect note. There is plenty to see and do all around. We have already booked our next visit for the cookie tour package in November and look forward to many more adventures and checking out each and every room in every season. We left refreshed renewed and in love all over again.

Lyn and Frank have really set this up to be an exceptional stay. We didn't expect the inn to be so beautiful and to provide such leisure in the evenings. Many places say puzzles, chess, etc. But this one really has it set up nicely in 2 rooms so that several people can be engaged in recreation such as darts, billiards, etc. without being in each other's way. Breakfast was delectable. Very accommodating so that I could still enjoy their breakfast specialties with all my dietary restrictions: lactose intolerant, vegetarian, wheat sensitivities. The bed was the most comfortable we've stayed in away from home! Highly recommend a stay here.

My now fiance and I went to the Inn at Ellis River last Thanksgiving weekend, and stayed in the Thoreau Room from 11/23/07 to 11/25/07. Lyn and Frank (and their daughter-I cannot remember her name!) were the best hosts imaginable! The room was beautiful, cozy, warm, and very comfortable. We joked around that we were staying at Grandma and Grandpa's, because everytime we came back from an outing, they were waiting with tea, coffee, cookies, and other treats. Breakfast was amazing-Lyn is a fabulous cook! Our recommendations are her bacon and the stuffed french toast. When we left, it was very hard to say goodbye. I hope during your stay you will write about your experience in the guest journal that they provide for each room at the inn. Everything was worth it while we were there. And if we can afford it (although the prices are very right), we will be going back for our honeymoon next October, if not, we will at least spend two nights there. Thanks Lyn and Frank! :) Love, Lisa and Greg

We're from New England (Connecticut) and decided we wanted the quintessential Northeastern autumn experience for our honeymoon. We couldn't have been happier with our decision to stay in Jackson (after having passed some of the other locations we were considering on the way), and loved our experience at the Inn at Ellis River. In fairness, we stayed in what I believe to be the best room at the inn (the Pearl Cascade room), though Christine was nice enough to give us the grand tour of the unoccupied rooms. They all had that quaint B&B charm, but our room had the 3-sided gas fireplace, the 2-person jacuzzi overlooking the river AND the charm. It really was incredible. Lyn and Frank are tremendous hosts, and are always ready with helpful advice, be it where to hike, where to go for dinner, or what shot to take in pool. Christine and Laureen were as helpful as could be, and do yourself a favor and say hi to Ginger in the office when you go. I'm not sure how many more 5 star reviews the Inn at Ellis River needs, but add ours! We'll be sure to come back next time we're in the White Mountains.

My fiancee and I had a wonderful weekend romantic getaway. We needed to leave the stress at home behind and relax. We definitely found that here at the Inn at Ellis River. Our hosts Lyn, Frank, and Christine were wonderful, very friendly, and ready to help in any way necessary. We had a wonderful stay and I was able to propose to my now fiancee over by Jackson Falls!!! Our fruit and chocolate and sparkling cider was also prepared nicely for us and ready when we arrived. We had the babymoon package because we are expecting in February! Our room was spotless and very calming and relaxing, just what we needed to forget about the hustle and bustle back at home. We can't wait to go back again soon!!! Thank you for such a wonderful B&B. This was the first time my husband and I stayed at an inn. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The room was beautiful from the two person jacuzzi (little rubber ducky included) to the fireplace and the four poster king size bed with the luxurious bedding. Our gourmet breakfast included fresh fruit, homemade baked goods and a choice of two hot entries also homemade, (my hats of to the cheif.) We enjoyed the pool and pub on the premises and the beautiful surroundings of the White Mts and Ellis river. N Conway is close for those who like the outlets. You can make the trip as busy or a quiet as you want. (we prefer quiet) The innkeepers and staff were very frendly but didn't envade your privacy. Every inch of the Inn was immaculate with many special touches. We will be returning with recommendations to friends and family.

Great attention is given to details like high thread count linens, heavy towels, abundant information on the area, excellent breakfasts (and a good variety too), etc. If I return to that region I would definitely stay again and recommend it to all that visit the Great White Mountains.

Superlatives often should be ignored, but in this case the title "simply perfect" was earned. We had the pleasure of staying here from 3/31-4/02. We stayed in the Pearl Cascade room, which is in a separate building from the main house. It's an upstairs suite (so go easy on the luggage) with a view of the river from a balcony (and from the roomy jacuzzi tub!). Despite the cold weather, we found ourselves opening our door regularly just to hear the sound of the river. The accommodations were roomy, and (for guys) not too frilly. Very comfortable bed, great jacuzzi tub and fireplace warmed up the room. Our hosts were friendly, but not at all pushy or overbearing. Breakfast was excellent. Our hosts also gave us solid recommendations for dinners. Cannot recommend this Inn too highly. When we return to NH we won't consider staying anywhere else.

The rooms in this inn are carefully decorated with period pieces, though I felt in some cases they could use a bit of updating. The bathroom was a bit of a disappointment--very small and just the standard fiberglass tub. The Inn has a very nice hot tub and pub area and swimming pool, but unfortunately we were not able to take advantage of them. In general, a very nice stay.

Innkeeper Response
Our rooms are decorated in a very traditional style, which we realize may not be to everyone’s taste. We are sorry that your bathroom was a bit of a disappointment. Nine of our rooms have jetted tubs for two, while ten have standard tubs. We try to post photos and room descriptions that are clear on our web site and group our accommodations with jetted tubs for two separately. We regret there may have been some misunderstanding about the room you selected.

We needed a quiet romantic getaway weekend without having to mortgage our house....well we found it at The Inn at Ellis River. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful , but not pressuring or overpowering. They seemed to know when you needed something without asking. The atmosphere was appealing and very relaxing. The rooms were cozy and romantic. The attention to detail throughout the whole Inn was phenominal....a lot of thought and care went into the decorations. And oh yes....the breakfasts were great. There were only 2 choices for hot breakfasts, but they were delicious....you have to have the bacon, it's to die for. We are not usually attracted to the B&Bs but we will go back again...Thanks for a great weekend, Frank, Lynn & Christine. See you soon. Angelo & Linda

This was the second visit to the Inn for me and my husband. I took him there last year for his birthday and, before we had even checked out, he said he wanted to return the following year for his birthday! We just returned from another romantic weekend in the mountains! We love the Ellis River Cottage because you feel like you are all alone even though you are only across the parking lot from the rest of the Inn! The jacuzzi is wonderful and relaxing after a day of shopping. The bed is SO comfortable that you never want to leave...especially with the CD playing Mendolsohn and a fire lit in the fireplace! What could be better (OR more romantic) on a rainy Saturday afternoon? Lyn, Frank and Christine are some of the warmest, friendliest, most welcoming people you could ever meet! They make you feel like you are visiting their home. I always ask for the fruit and cheese platter, as well as wine and a cake for my husband's birthday and they are always more than happy to acommodate me. Everything is waiting for us in the cottage when we arrive. These innkeepers are the best you will ever encounter! They'll even help you plan your day or recommend a great place for dinner if you need advice. We could not have chosen a better, more romantic place to stay and we will be returning to the Inn at Ellis River for many more romantic visits in the future! My girlfriend and I had a great stay at the Inn at Ellis River. We booked the cottage for 3 nights, and it was totally relaxing, exactly what we wanted. We'd play a little pool or scrabble during the day in the main inn, have some tasty cookies, then at night in our cozy cottage we would toss in a DVD while we drank wine in the jacuzzi... and after that we'd go upstairs and relax by the fireplace. We also got some nice massages during one of the days, which is highly recommended if you're up for just a relaxing weekend getaway in the mountains. The food at the inn was incredible, the coffee and cookies were delicious, and the breakfasts were amazing! Also, the innkeepers and staff were very friendly and pleasant to be around, which is not always the case with certain B&Bs. We would definitely return anytime!

We spent President's Day weekend at The Inn at Ellis River and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The inn was charming - beautiful setting on the river - well appointed and very comfortable. The Basin room is in the older part of the inn with a beautiful view of the river and mountains from the windows on three sides. Big comfortable king size bed. The breakfasts were outstanding - they start with delicious coffee cakes (one we loved included coconut, mango, pineapple and other exotic fruits) followed by (on various days), baked French toast, frittata, etc. Cookies in the afternoon, delicious coffee all day. A bar in the game room serving good wines and cordials. Superb. They also have a number of puzzles, games, a pool table, darts to while away a quiet hour or two (if you're not out cross country or downhill skiing). Lyn, Frank and Christine are very friendly and helpful - they are knowledgeable about nearby restaurants, activities, etc. The inn is located nearby Jackson Ski Foundation (crosscountry skiing mecca), the Thompson House Eatery (delicious) and a number of other Jackson restaurants. Highly recommended.

The jacuzzi was relaxing, the bed was gigantic with the softest sheets I've ever felt, and the food was beyond incredible. The breakfasts were enough to get us through until dinner time! And my boyfriend especially enjoyed the bacon. Only thing I'd suggest is going when there are less people (weekdays, not weekends) - when we did have downstairs neighbors, we were able to hear them talking. And breakfast was so much more quaint when we were the only people there!

The Inn run by Frank and Lyn Baker is a beautiful, romantic, place to stay. We have stayed there twice so far and want to return. Their unique, mouth watering, aroma filled breakfasts are a treat. We stayed in Franconia Falls the last time. It exits onto the pool. (It was snowing so we didn't use it!) The hot tub is in a beautiful floor to ceiling windowed room. It looks so pretty while the snow is falling. Christine bakes the best cookies for an afternoon treat. The pool table room with bar invites conversation with Frank while he does the Suduko puzzle. My husband and I have stayed at this Inn twice now. Our second, and most recent visit, was for our honeymoon. The innkeepers and staff are so kind and welcoming that you feel as though you have known them for years. When we decided to spend our honeymoon in Jackson, there was no doubt that we would be staying at this comforting and romantic Inn!

We stayed in the Bridal Veil Falls room and enjoyed the romantic comfy bed, fireplace and jacuzzi. The breakfasts and goodies made from scratch by Lyn were delicious, which really makes this Inn shine, and service by Frank and Christine was wonderful. They were very helpful with restaurant suggestions and we enjoyed dinner at the White Mountain Cider Co., frequented by locals and tourists alike. We also took advantage of the jacuzzi in the atrium, very relaxing after a day outdoors. The Christmas decorations and trees throughout added a homey touch. Frank, Lyn and Christine really made our stay memorable. We look forward to our next visit!

I cannot think of a better way I could have spent celebrating my 4 year anniversary with my boyfriend than a weekend at The Inn at Ellis River. This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast, and the cottage exceeded our expectations. From the jacuzzi overlooking the river to falling asleep by the light of the fire, we were lulled into the deepest relaxation. We also enjoyed the small details, such as romantic CDs provided in the room and freshly baked cookies in the afternoon. The food was delicious, and we found ourselves asking for recipes on the bacon glaze! Whenever we needed something, Lyn, Frank, Christine, and Lorreane were there with answers. We already can't wait for our next stay at the inn!

We needed a weekend getaway and found this place after reading reviews of tons of B&B's in Conway and that area. The website and pictures don't even do it justice! The room was amazing, and we barely left! Everyone there was super nice, and went out of their way to accommodate my gluten free diet, as well as anything we needed throughout our stay. What a perfect, romantic, rejuvenating place to stay when you need a break from life!

We brought my parents for a couple of days vacation. My parents are close to 90 years old so it was hard for them to use the stairs.(My fault I did not think of this when booking) The owners switched their room to the first floor bridal suite at no extra charge. Lynn, Christine and Frank are 3 of the nicest people I ever met. They were available for our every need. We had gourmet breakfasts cooked by Lynn that were truly scrumptious. We will be back!

The rooms were very set up for romance and were very comfortable, especially the beds. The staff was outstanding and worked very, very hard at being there for all their guests this busy time of year. Prior to arriving, I had frequented the Inn's web site in anticipation of a long over due vacation. This was the perfect place to unwind and be pampered! The cottage overlooking the Ellis River was delightful! It was warm, cozy, private and romantic. We enjoyed the private patio and watched the stars every night while listening to the sounds of the river!Lyn and Frank were warm and friendly, and made us feel at "home"! Their added little touches meant so much. I especially looked forward to breakfast every morning, kudos to " chef Lyn"!! We turned into "cookie monsters" in the afternoons and could hardly wait to see what delicious treats Lyn and the staff had prepared!!We enjoyed visiting many waterfalls, browsing quaint little shops and Mount Washington.I would have to say Jackson Falls was my favorite water fall of all. We spent hours there climbing over granite rocks and splashing my feet in the cool water, what a peaceful place! I loved it so much, we went there twice! We enjoyed relaxing on the Inn's grounds, spending time reading in adirondack chairs overlooking the river and also swimming in the pool! We are hoping to send my daughter and son-in-law here for a romantic getaway when he returns safely from Iraq. We are looking forward to returning in the winter season to enjoy the snow and relax by the fireplace in the cottage! We stayed five days, and it wasn't long enough!

We have just had a marvelous stay in a gorgeous Bed and Breakfast—the Inn at Ellis River in Jackson, New Hampshire. We had the kindest hosts in the world—Lyn and Frank Baker. We had such a wonderful time that I would like to write and let others know about the fabulous hospitality and lovely rooms and public spaces. Our room was delightful and the breakfasts were superb. The spectacular frittatas, omelets, and home-baked raspberry, blueberry, and lemon cakes were just the beginning. Each afternoon after a day of hiking, we were greeted by the smiling faces of Lyn and Frank in addition to home-baked cookies and beverages. The screened-in pagoda overlooking the beautiful Ellis River is another touch never to be forgotten. Thanks to Lyn and Frank for a truly delightful time.

Expecting a pleasant environ from the web site, we were delighted to find the Inn at Ellis River far exceeded our expectations. Nestled at the edge of Ellis River a discreet distance back from SH16, there was very little traffic noise to interrupt the lullaby of the rapid water flowing over rocks outside our balcony. Our room was luxuriously appointed with great and loving details: from the satin-sheeted king size four post bed to the spa additives for the double jacuzzi to the fragrantly inviting fluffy white towels. We enjoyed Lyn's excellent gourmet breakfasts, Christine's mouth-watering cookies in the afternoon and a picnic lunch in the screened gazebo on the grounds. Our hosts were solicitous without being intrusive on our anniversary celebration and the entire experience was one of elegance without demanding formality. We had so many choices for on site entertainment - pool, sauna, game room, lounge - the only time we left the premises during our three day visit was to dine out. Even then, Lyn facilitated our experience by securing advanced reservations for us at the very busy restaurant. We highly recommend the Inn at Ellis River for any special occasion or just for a weekend of relaxation! Frank, Lyn and Christine go out of their way to make your time with them at the Inn at Ellis River a memory to cherish!

This is about our third year staying at this Inn and we enjoy the Inn thoroughly and the Innkeepers. When we come, we sort of "take over" the Inn as we are very comfortable there we fell like we are being waited on hand and foot for all our needs. This time we stayed for Seek the Peak and they were able to accommodate our getting up early on Saturday as well as ice packs on our return.

Inn at Ellis River is truly a gem in the White Mountains. The property is beautiful inside and out, and immaculately kept, but the true treasures are the Innkeepers. Lyn and Frank helped us plan our wedding "long-distance" and enabled us to make our dream a reality, even finding our favorite cheeses and making our favorite hors d'ouevres for the reception! (I think if they could have held off the rain on Saturday, they would! As it turns out, we moved the ceremony inside by a candlelit fireplace, and it was wonderfully romantic -- possibly even better than the planned gazebo overlooking the river!) Our closest family members joined us for the ceremony and reception at the Inn, and all have told us how truly impressed they were by the gracious hospitality of the staff and the easy elegance of the event. Lyn, Frank, and Christine were truly wonderful, and made us feel like we were the only guests at the Inn during the busy 4th of July week and weekend! The amenities at the Inn at Ellis River are simply superb. The rooms are gorgeous! The service is amazing! The breakfasts are consistently outstanding! The picnic lunch is delicious! The pub room is fun, and the puzzles by the piano are endlessly entertaining! We are planning to spend our first anniversary back at the Inn, and cannot wait to return! The trip from Long Island will be well worth it! We most highly recommend Inn at Ellis River!

Our children chose to give us a gift of two nights away for our 30th wedding anniversary. Somehow they found and made reservations for us at the Inn at Ellis River. this was our first stay at an inn. It was wonderful. They could not have made a better choice. It was a perfect blend of hospitality and privacy. Frank, Lyn and Christine seemed to know when to show up and offer conversation or advice and when to just let us enjoy each other. The location in Jackson offers solitude, access to Jackson with an easy walk, and a short drive to the best of activities, both out-of-doors and in. the food was to die for, falling somewhere between breakfast and desert. All the rooms provided a blend of luxury and comfort that made us feel that we did not ahve a chance to take full advantage of them. Oh well, I guess we will just have to come back.

This is truly a special place, run lovingly by special people! Lyn, Frank and Christine made our early-May stay during "MS Week in Jackson" perfect in every way. From the moment Lyn and Christine met us at the door to welcome us, my friend and I sensed that we were in for an enjoyable stay. As we toured the "common areas" we soon realized that there was nothing "common" about them! Everything was beautifully decorated with obvious attention to both style and comfort. The cozy lounge was the perfect place to sit, talk, and enjoy a glass of wine. Our bedroom was lovely and the beds were SO comfortable that the delicious gourmet breakfasts were our only incentive to get up in the morning. I've stayed in numerous inns throughout New England and can honestly say that The Inn at Ellis River is one of the best - it's THE place to stay if you're visiting Jackson!
