We just returned from our second stay at the Addison on Amelia. If you are looking for a relaxing respite, this is a wonderful inn. It is what brought us back. The innkeepers, Shannon and Bob, are wonderful. They will provide you with what seems like everything you need to enjoy your time (beach chairs, towels, bikes, binoculars . . .). The rooms, as is the main house, are uniquely decorated, clean, quiet and relaxing. The ambiance is charming, welcoming and friendly. One of the perks of the rooms believe it or not are the sheets. They are silky smooth! Breakfasts and happy hours are highlights and not to be missed. Shannon aim is to please and her breakfasts will not disappoint. She truly tries to create and prepare breakfasts that are memorable. Special diets and needs are graciously accommodated. One thing that we have noticed on both stays and truly enjoyed was Shannon and Bob's warmth across the ages. While we were there this last time, there was a couple celebrating their first anniversary, a couple celebrating their 10th anniversary, a vacationing middle age couple - my husband and myself along with our 24 year old son, an older couple and a couple of friends just getting away together for a few days. All were made to feel welcome. Shannon and Bob were great at asking about plans, suggesting and arranging activities. Their daughter, Leigh, was also available to lend a hand. Their hospitality always seems to spread among the guests, becoming somewhat contagious, as observed during breakfasts and happy hours, when everyone staying at the inn warmly engages in conversation about themselves and about their experiences on the island. Great get a-way. We were not disappointed on the first nor the second visit and hope to return again. Nick and Donna View Reviewer Info

There is a very good reason why The Addison is at the top of the list for B&Bs to stay at when visiting Amelia Island. It is simply OUTSTANDING! My husband and I have stayed at The Addison on two separate occasions, and both visits were priceless!
The breakfasts are delicious and served on a charming porch overlooking the courtyard. Though this Inn is conveniently located in the heart of Amelia Island, the environment is quaint and private. Happy hour should never be missed. Bob and Shannon host this daily gathering with all their wonderful guests who share their adventures over wine, beer, and incredible appetizers prepared by Grant. Speaking of Grant and things not to be missed: dinner! We have yet to find a better meal and it is served by the inn’s own gracious Leigh.
The rooms are immaculate and kept so during our entire visit by the very efficient Kati. They are sinfully comfortable with luxurious bedding and towels, and beds that long to be slept in. They are also tastefully decorated to depict the beautiful Amelia Island.
If you can pull yourself away from the inn during your visit, Bob will promptly provide bicycles, beach chairs, or beach towels to enhance your Amelia experiences. All the extras that Bob and Shannon provide are included in the price of the room, which we feel is worth every penny!
Still on island time,
Don and Carla

Wanting to get away for a night? A few days? This is the place to go! The staff/Inn-Keepers are very kind and considerate. Every detail has been thought of. The accomodations were exquisite and cheap for what you get. We were only able to get away for a one-night stay. Check-in was simple, the room (#6) was amazing. The Inn-Keepers fulfilled all of my requests, the Roses were delivered on-time, the Champaigne was nice and chilled, delivered on-time, the Horse Drawn Carriage arrived on-time and was alot of fun. We live within an hour of the Addison, you would think we were in an whole different part of the country. Quaint, quiet, charming and exquisite. For those who are unsure of Bed and Breakfasts... Let me reassure you. The Addison has the feel of an Exclusive Resort with a staff who answers all of your needs with a warm, friendly welcome. It has been a few days since we stayed there and I still feel relaxed, could be from that HUGE Jaquzzi Tub or the bed you never want to crawl out of. We will definately going to be back.... David and I loved our stay at Addison House. Shannon and Bob are great hosts, very generous, with good stories to share, and good advice on the area activities. The rooms are clean, bright and very comfy. Shannon serves a hearty, tasty breakfast that will give you plenty of energy for a fun day on the eclectic little island. The afternoon snacks and evening happy hour are great for getting to know other guests, and enjoying the quiet courtyard before dinner in town. There are many days worth of activities within walking distance of the Addison House, and many more within biking distance. The town of Fernandina Beach has a great little historic shopping section, full of great little restaurants and taverns, gift shops, art galleries, wine shops, ending in a lovely little harbor. Visit the museum, it is full of history. Great spot, all around. I can't wait to return. View Reviewer Info

My husband and I planned a quiet weekend away after the hustle and bustle of Christmas and found just what we were looking for at the Addison. The innkeepers, Bob and Shannon, were both gracious and attentive, and quite knowledgeable about the area, even tho they have only been on the island for a year.
Breakfast was delicious, with a different menu each morning; our personal favorite was the burrito - altho it was hard to pick just one b/c the smoothie was also quite good as were all the baked goods. We were lucky enough to stay over on a Saturday night and have dinner at the Inn; Leigh and Graham, the chef, presented a gourmet 3 course meal. We started with cream of mushroom soup, followed by a tender chicken breast on a bed of spinach and garlic mashed potatoes topped with cheese, tomatoes, basil and finished with a basalmic reduction, and capped the meal off with a luscious brownie sundae and excellent coffee. Happy hour was a pleasant way to recap the day with our hosts, especially when the weather was balmy enough to sit in the lovely courtyard.
Our room was lovely - well-appointed and well-kept - with a huge leather chair I had a hard time keeping my husband out of - and I quite enjoyed sitting on the front balcony just watching the world go by and "reading" my book. The Inn is located within walking distance of the historic town and restaurants but a block off the main street so the noise level was quite reduced. I look forward to my next visit to Amelia Island - and my next stay at the Addison. View Reviewer Info

Setting: We left the wedding for our stay at the inn
Upon our arrival the owners/keepers met us at the front door and were very friendly. Im not a people person, but as soon as you walk in you feel at home it is so peaceful.
Anyway, we get our room and house key and walk into to our room. As soon as we enter it smells great, is super clean, and again it feels homey where hotels don't.
The room is large enough to house a king size bed and still have tons of room. The bathroom was phenomenal. If you like taking a bath with your mate the room with the oversized tub is for you. The keeper will tell you it would fit 4 comfortably and theyre right. Me and my new wife fir and probably could have swam laps, amazing.
Between 5 and 6 they have a happy hour with complimentary beer or wine and the clerks join you and will give advice on dining establishments or possible things you can do during your evening.
During the entire stay the keepers constantly offered any assistance but were never pushy and overbearing with it,which was refreshing. The breakfast in itself was almost worth the cost of the stay. We had a meal that looked like it was prepared by a chef, then come to find out it was, the keeper is a chef.
If you compare what you get, location, and amenities for cosy the Addison is definetly top of the list. As a surprise for my wife I wanted to take a horse drawn carriage ride, and the keepers arranged it completely for me and charged it to the room so no pesky financial transactions needed to take place following the romantic ride. The keepers will set up anything available with only notice of what you want to do, when you want to do it, and how many people.
Im a hard person to please and I give the Addison an overwhelming 5 out of 5. If you choose anywhere else good luck, but if you choose the Addison I know you will be pleased. Good luck and happy hunting. View Reviewer Info

A fantasy home away from home is the best way I can sum up The Addison. Yes, this would be my ideal home experience if I was extremely tidy, a great cook, and located on a relaxing beach island. The Addison is my first Bed and Breakfast and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed. Bob and Shannon are the greatest hosts and unbelievable innkeepers. They are extremely helpful and knowledgeable in attending to your every need (i.e. tips on day trip necessities to Cumberland Island or the beach, suggestions on where to eat...and I recommend Espana if you go, directions...you name it). In addition, they sponsor a daily happy hour from 5:00 - 6:00 pm which is a great way to wind down (pun intended) and meet all the other guests staying there.
The rooms are refreshing, beautiful, and tranquil much as I would imagine you would encounter in the main estate of a yesteryear sugar plantation. It has tropicalness about it, while the main house has a European Victorian or Edwardian feel to it. Special treats like the lavendar salts make you feel pampered. The food was stupendous! Shannon is a gourmet chef in her own right, baking up treats that would make even Martha Stewart envious! There is nothing I have to say negative about my experience and would recommend The Addison as the perfect retreat for any couple seeking a brief sojourn of solace, romanticism, and relaxation. Our stay at the Addison on Amelia was short, but very, very sweet. We have stayed at many inns, but Bob and Shannon were by far the best hosts a guest could hope for. The afternoon happy hour was fun and comfortable, and good conversation flowed for several hours. The bed linens and towels were noticeably luxurious, and proof that Bob and Shannon want to treat their guests to only the best. To top it off, our travel arrangements had us leaving at 7:00AM, which meant we would miss the morning breakfast. Upon learning of our early departure, Bob graciously offered to meet us for some breakfast at 6:30AM the next morning. To our delight he was waiting for us bright and early and whipped us up a tasty breakfast of scrambled eggs, muffins, sausage, and fruit in a martini glass! The food was delicious and we’re sure we missed an outstanding “official” breakfast that was served later in the morning. Other guests we talked to raved about the delicious breakfasts they had had during their stay. We have left other inns before breakfast in the past, but have not experienced other innkeepers that were willing to go out of their way and offer to accommodate us. This kind gesture was greatly appreciated and completely unexpected. We were sad to leave this beautiful Inn and community! We definitely plan to return to the Addison again in the future and will make sure we stay a little longer next time!

this was our first bed and breakfast experience, and the addison definitely surpassed our expectations. we really just wanted to enjoy a relaxing mini vacation, where you sleep in. that was impossible though because we could not resist breakfast, incredible! my boyfriend and i both love to cook and love trying new things. we could taste and see the love that was given in making breakfast every morning. the rooms are beautiful, extremely comfortable, plush pillows and luxury linens, very clean..the cable and wifi a definate plus! i would love to go on and on, i'll just finish with bob and shannon were very helpful and always had suggestions for local activities and great local restaurants, believe me i did LOTS of online searching comparing, looking at pictures, and as i said, we were exptremely impressed.
oh yeah...definitely worth every penny!
