We were trying to get away for a few days to celebrate our 27th Wedding Anniversary. We made reservations at the Addison twice and each time we canceled at the last minute due to work schedules and illness in the family. I knew we made the right decision when both times Bob and Shannon generously applied our deposit to a future visit. I guess it's true that the third time's a charm because upon finally arriving at the Addison even though we were early, when we walked into our room after a brief tour of the property, there was a chilled bottle of wine and cheese platter waiting just as we had aksed for... and it only got better from there. From the cleanliness of the room and attention to detail on the property, the delicious gourmet style breakfasts, afternoon cocktails and horse drawn carriage ride to Joe's Bistro which Bob arranged for us... it was nothing less than the perfect getaway. We would recommend a stay at the Addison 110%. We even liked the bed sheets so much that Bob and Shannon ordered a set and had them sent to our house. We can't wait to go back! Keith & Heather, FL

This B & B was extra ordinary! The rooms were so lavish and luxurious. I loved the fact that everything is thought through with a focus on being green! That was a huge draw. Did I mention the breakfast!!!!!! It was beyond anything I have experienced at other B & B's and restaurants. Happy hour with Bob and Shannon was a great way to end the day! Loved it all and am already planning my next trip there! Thanks Bob and Shannon for giving us such an amazing experience!

It is difficult to find a B&B that can accommodate two women in two beds, but the Addison had the perfect room with two twin beds. My friend and I were made to feel right at home by the innkeepers. We relaxed with a glass of wine and tasty tidbits on the porch in the late afternoon with some of the other guests. Breakfast was elegant and delicious. We felt very pampered.

I knew from the beginning that the Addison was going to be different. From the moment you walk in, you are treated as though you are family. Addison on Amelia truly provided us with the perfect vacation. Our two main objectives for this trip were to renew our vows in a peaceful, romantic setting and to find lots of sharks' teeth and we did both! Bob and Shannon went out of their way to make our vow renewal an occasion we will always remember by ordering a bouquet for me and helping me schedule a spa appointment and dinner reservations. The ceremony was lovely and Bob did an excellent job of reminding us how blessed we are to have each other. The accommodations are outstanding and the sheets are beyond comparison. Rooms are lovely and tastefully appointed, breakfast was outstanding and The Tidballs make Happy Hour FUN! Fort Clinch was a beautiful, peaceful sanctuary and my husband found quite a few larger sharks' teeth. The downtown area is very quaint and we enjoyed the food and shopping. We are looking forward to planning our next stay and highly recommend the Addison for a relaxing, pleasant stay at an inn that exceeds all of your expectations.

We just returned from our second stay at the Addison on Amelia. If you are looking for a relaxing respite, this is a wonderful inn. It is what brought us back. The innkeepers, Shannon and Bob, are wonderful. They will provide you with what seems like everything you need to enjoy your time (beach chairs, towels, bikes, binoculars . . .). The rooms, as is the main house, are uniquely decorated, clean, quiet and relaxing. The ambiance is charming, welcoming and friendly. One of the perks of the rooms believe it or not are the sheets. They are silky smooth! Breakfasts and happy hours are highlights and not to be missed. Shannon aim is to please and her breakfasts will not disappoint. She truly tries to create and prepare breakfasts that are memorable. Special diets and needs are graciously accommodated. One thing that we have noticed on both stays and truly enjoyed was Shannon and Bob's warmth across the ages. While we were there this last time, there was a couple celebrating their first anniversary, a couple celebrating their 10th anniversary, a vacationing middle age couple - my husband and myself along with our 24 year old son, an older couple and a couple of friends just getting away together for a few days. All were made to feel welcome. Shannon and Bob were great at asking about plans, suggesting and arranging activities. Their daughter, Leigh, was also available to lend a hand. Their hospitality always seems to spread among the guests, becoming somewhat contagious, as observed during breakfasts and happy hours, when everyone staying at the inn warmly engages in conversation about themselves and about their experiences on the island. Great get a-way. We were not disappointed on the first nor the second visit and hope to return again. Nick and Donna

During a one week period of time, I had my first "two" bed and breakfast experiences. The first one was in Savannah, and it just wasn't what I expected and even upon checkout, I couldn't tell you who owned the place. However, when we got to the Addision, I felt that we had "arrived" and that it was exactly what I always thought a B&B would be like. Shannon, one of the owners, greated us warmly and was the perfect hostess. Her husband, Bob kept us on our toes with his quick wit and sense of humor. They took care of our every need and made happy hour each evening very comfortable by sitting with the guests and making everyone comfortable. The meals at breakfast and the happy hour snacks were very good. The B&B always smelled like home baked cookies because they provided them daily and it was like being spoiled by grandma!!! I loved having the bicycles available without a charge along with the beach chairs and towels. We got a lot of exercise going back and forth to the beach on the bikes and what an adventure! This was a fantastic B&B and I would recommend it highly!!

Addison B&B was the perfect choice for our Spring Break vacation. Breakfast and cocktail hour on the porch was a great way to socialize with guests. I enjoyed a late night coffee and homemade cookies available in the dining room. The innkeepers, Bob and Shannon are wonderful hosts. We even got to witness a beautiful wedding ceremony on the veranda. Amelia Island's historic district was a great choice to stay as it is close to the harbor, restaurants and shops and a short bike ride to the beach.

The Addison is an amazing place to stay. It was definitely a splurge for us, but it was worth every penny. Bob, Shannon, and their daughter, Leigh, were gracious and hospitable hosts. The breakfasts were better than the meals we had in town. It wasn't hard getting up in the morning knowing that breakfast was going to be so amazing. We stayed in Room 12. The sheets on our king sized bed were AMAZING! It's pretty bad when you go back home and realize that your sheets and your towels aren't as nice as the ones you used on vacation. (Heck, the same could be said for their toilet paper!) We truly felt like we were being taken care of rather than just coming back to a room to sleep. Bob and Shannon provided us with beach chairs and towels and Bob always provided us with stories of his travels during the daily happy hour. If we ever come back to Amelia we won't look to stay anywhere else. The Addison was perfect and everything we could ask for!

When we arrived at the Inn Bob assisted with the luggage. That was very nice. The Addison is beautiful. I must say I was very impressed how clean everything was at the Inn. The room was very nice. The bed and linens were just a delight. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and very hearty. They don't skimp on the food A+++++. They have beach chairs and towels that are of very nice quality. They have bicycles to bike to the beach but its really to far to be honest. Especially with towels and chairs that's just not going to happen. But a very short drive. You can walk to downtown and to the marina and blink of an eye. Our stay at the Addison was wonderful. Sometimes talking to Bob was a bit awkward. He has a little different personality. But he's nice and provides excellent service. I would defiantly recommend this Inn. Amelia is a quaint little town good for R&R.

There is a very good reason why The Addison is at the top of the list for B&Bs to stay at when visiting Amelia Island. It is simply OUTSTANDING! My husband and I have stayed at The Addison on two separate occasions, and both visits were priceless! The breakfasts are delicious and served on a charming porch overlooking the courtyard. Though this Inn is conveniently located in the heart of Amelia Island, the environment is quaint and private. Happy hour should never be missed. Bob and Shannon host this daily gathering with all their wonderful guests who share their adventures over wine, beer, and incredible appetizers prepared by Grant. Speaking of Grant and things not to be missed: dinner! We have yet to find a better meal and it is served by the inn’s own gracious Leigh. The rooms are immaculate and kept so during our entire visit by the very efficient Kati. They are sinfully comfortable with luxurious bedding and towels, and beds that long to be slept in. They are also tastefully decorated to depict the beautiful Amelia Island. If you can pull yourself away from the inn during your visit, Bob will promptly provide bicycles, beach chairs, or beach towels to enhance your Amelia experiences. All the extras that Bob and Shannon provide are included in the price of the room, which we feel is worth every penny! Still on island time, Don and Carla

Shannon cooked a fabulous 3 course breakfast every morning, while Bob served and ensured all beverages were topped off and nothing else was needed. The cleaning staff did a wonderful job every morning making the room look like it did when we arrived. My husband and I won a weekend get-away to Fernandina Beach at a silent auction. We gave the package to his parents as a gift for Mother's/Father's Day. Unfortunately his parents were not able to travel before the package expired, so they returned the gift asking us to go in their place. There is no doubt that we will return to the Addison on Amelia. I have stayed at several Bed & Breakfasts but my husband has never stayed at one. And after only 1 hour of being at the Addison, he announced to me that he would most definitely visit there again. Although our stay was not long (only 1 night), Bob and Shannon (the owners) made sure that our needs were met. It takes a special person to run a Bed & Breakfast and there is no doubt that Bob & Shannon are the right people for the job. The Addison was immaculate! Our room was beautiful (#12), very well equipped, comfortable, and spacious. The breakfast was delicious and they were so accommodating providing my husband a tray so that we could eat while we packed up to leave. The Addison provided us a quick weekend get-away where we could forget the daily grind the ratt saThe staff was there to please you and provide you the comforats and although I didn't get to sit on the swings on the porch, I will next time.

Wanting to get away for a night? A few days? This is the place to go! The staff/Inn-Keepers are very kind and considerate. Every detail has been thought of. The accomodations were exquisite and cheap for what you get. We were only able to get away for a one-night stay. Check-in was simple, the room (#6) was amazing. The Inn-Keepers fulfilled all of my requests, the Roses were delivered on-time, the Champaigne was nice and chilled, delivered on-time, the Horse Drawn Carriage arrived on-time and was alot of fun. We live within an hour of the Addison, you would think we were in an whole different part of the country. Quaint, quiet, charming and exquisite. For those who are unsure of Bed and Breakfasts... Let me reassure you. The Addison has the feel of an Exclusive Resort with a staff who answers all of your needs with a warm, friendly welcome. It has been a few days since we stayed there and I still feel relaxed, could be from that HUGE Jaquzzi Tub or the bed you never want to crawl out of. We will definately going to be back....

The innkeepers, Bob and Shannon are extremely helpful with ideas for planning our daily activities and making our dinner reservations. We stayed in Room #12, it was just as comfortable, luxurious, and large as it appears on the Addison's website. The jacuzzi tub was the largest we've ever seen. The Addison is within walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants that have made this historic district famous. Shannon cooked delicious breakfast each morning and Bob entertained us with his good sense of humor. It was the refreshing getaway we needed thanks to Bob and Shannon

This was our first visit to the Addison on Amelia and we will definitely return. Our room was spacious, lovely, and clean. We were warmly greeted upon our arrival and shown around the inn. It was great getting to know some of the other guests and our hosts were most helpful. Bob even made dinner reservations for us and had some great suggestions on local restaurants, all within walking distance. The breakfast was delicious! My husband and I will definitely plan another trip to the Addison soon! The only downside to our stay was that we were only able to stay one night.

David and I loved our stay at Addison House. Shannon and Bob are great hosts, very generous, with good stories to share, and good advice on the area activities. The rooms are clean, bright and very comfy. Shannon serves a hearty, tasty breakfast that will give you plenty of energy for a fun day on the eclectic little island. The afternoon snacks and evening happy hour are great for getting to know other guests, and enjoying the quiet courtyard before dinner in town. There are many days worth of activities within walking distance of the Addison House, and many more within biking distance. The town of Fernandina Beach has a great little historic shopping section, full of great little restaurants and taverns, gift shops, art galleries, wine shops, ending in a lovely little harbor. Visit the museum, it is full of history. Great spot, all around. I can't wait to return.

Over the years we have stayed in B&B's from California to Florida. The hospititality of owners Bob, and Shannon was outstanding. One of the small, and personalized, but needed items in their rooms was a monagramed wash cloth marked "makeup removal." Never had I seen this, and appreciated the thought. No more damaged towels. Thank you Bob, and Shannon for a wonderful B&B experiance. Marge and Edwin Tippie

We had a wonderful experience from booking the B and B to this review and as follow-up. The owners were honest and pleasent in their comments during conversations over the phone and at their wonderful home and the love they have for the home is very obvious. Their daughter checked us in and gave us an unhurried tour of the B and B and it's many amenities. Our room, #11, was just perfect for us, with cleanliness and comfort and privacy in the compact property with 14 tastefully decorated rooms. The complimentary wine and crab dip in the late afternoon was just perfect, along with fine conversation we had with fellow guests and Bob and Shannon Tidball, owners. They suggested several fine and reasonable restaurants for the evening meal that were very close to the Inn that we walked to our choice of dining. The breakfast in their dining room was wonderful. The first experience in this B and B was exceptional and we would return in a minute!

My husband and I planned a quiet weekend away after the hustle and bustle of Christmas and found just what we were looking for at the Addison. The innkeepers, Bob and Shannon, were both gracious and attentive, and quite knowledgeable about the area, even tho they have only been on the island for a year. Breakfast was delicious, with a different menu each morning; our personal favorite was the burrito - altho it was hard to pick just one b/c the smoothie was also quite good as were all the baked goods. We were lucky enough to stay over on a Saturday night and have dinner at the Inn; Leigh and Graham, the chef, presented a gourmet 3 course meal. We started with cream of mushroom soup, followed by a tender chicken breast on a bed of spinach and garlic mashed potatoes topped with cheese, tomatoes, basil and finished with a basalmic reduction, and capped the meal off with a luscious brownie sundae and excellent coffee. Happy hour was a pleasant way to recap the day with our hosts, especially when the weather was balmy enough to sit in the lovely courtyard. Our room was lovely - well-appointed and well-kept - with a huge leather chair I had a hard time keeping my husband out of - and I quite enjoyed sitting on the front balcony just watching the world go by and "reading" my book. The Inn is located within walking distance of the historic town and restaurants but a block off the main street so the noise level was quite reduced. I look forward to my next visit to Amelia Island - and my next stay at the Addison.

1/11/09 Submitted by: Ron & Kathy, Ocala, Florida We just returned from 3 days at The Addison in celebration of our 50th Anniversary. Never having stayed at a B&B before, we didn't know what to expect. The bar has now been set very high for any future visits to B&Bs. Bob & Shannon were wonderful hosts and we felt like we were staying with family instead of perfect strangers. Shannon's bountiful breakfasts, which were different every morning, were superb. Bob kept the wine glasses full at happy hour every evening as we munched on some of Shannons' tasty snacks. While we were there, the Addison was running a special January promotion in which they provided guests with a complimentary 3-course gourmet dinner on Saturday nights. Chef Grant prepared a wonderful meal with the able assistance of Lee, Shannon & Bob's lovely daughter. We'd recommend The Addison as a perfect place to stay on Amelia Island.

We had the most wonderful and relaxing time at the Addison; it couldn't have been more perfect! We arrived on December 20th and stayed until the 22nd. Both Bob and Shannon made us feel right at home! Right from the moment we arrived to check in, until the minute we left, we were always treated with such care and courtesy. Our room was amazing...just like the picture indicated it would be! We loved getting to know everyone during the happy hour and at breakfast. Shannon bakes the best chocolate cookies I've ever tasted! Bob was so helpful in recommending places for us to have dinner, and even made our reservations for us. We really enjoyed being able to take the bicycles out and ride through Ft. Clinch State Park. The picnic basket Shannon prepared for us was a perfect compliment to our day out. When it was time for us to leave, we accidentally left some things behind, but before we could get more than a mile down the street, Bob was calling us back! This was the best B&B I have ever stayed in. From the friendliness of Bob and Shannon, the other guests, the food, and our time with each other... the Addison on Amelia is by far the perfect place to stay for fun and relaxation!

We had a wonderful experience in our stay at Addison on Amelia. Bob and Shannon, the innkeepers, welcomed us like friends would welcome us to their home. We had room #3 which is very large, with a king bed, a full porch and a bathroom with separate tub and shower. The room was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Cocktail hour was fun, sharing stories with Bob and Shannon and the other guests. They served beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks and snacks and was just a very relaxing time. We had to leave early in the morning and the innkeepers were kind enough to serve us a delicious breakfast an hour earlier than the usual breakfast time. The sheets on the bed were so comfortable that we mentioned them to Bob who then ordered a set for us for our home. Our stay, although for only one night, was a perfect experience in a bed and breakfast. In the future we hope to return and have the opportunity to spend more time and enjoy the hospitality of Shannon and Bob.

My husband and I felt welcome from the moment we stepped through the door at the Addison. The Inn, just a block from Fernandina's quaint downtown, is tastefully furnished and very clean. After our dinner at Espana (also great), we treated ourselves to a late evening cup of tea and some fresh-baked cookies (courtesy of the Inn) while we sat in comfy chairs out in the brick courtyard. After a quiet night's rest and a yummy breakfast (stuffed french toast, sausage, fresh fruit & a muffin), we sadly parted ways with the Inn. One drawback was that our room was on the small side. But it had every amenity, including a modern bathroom with jacuzzi, television, and wireless internet. We highly recommend a stay if you're passing through Amelia Island and want to avoid the mega-hotels or condos.

Setting: We left the wedding for our stay at the inn Upon our arrival the owners/keepers met us at the front door and were very friendly. Im not a people person, but as soon as you walk in you feel at home it is so peaceful. Anyway, we get our room and house key and walk into to our room. As soon as we enter it smells great, is super clean, and again it feels homey where hotels don't. The room is large enough to house a king size bed and still have tons of room. The bathroom was phenomenal. If you like taking a bath with your mate the room with the oversized tub is for you. The keeper will tell you it would fit 4 comfortably and theyre right. Me and my new wife fir and probably could have swam laps, amazing. Between 5 and 6 they have a happy hour with complimentary beer or wine and the clerks join you and will give advice on dining establishments or possible things you can do during your evening. During the entire stay the keepers constantly offered any assistance but were never pushy and overbearing with it,which was refreshing. The breakfast in itself was almost worth the cost of the stay. We had a meal that looked like it was prepared by a chef, then come to find out it was, the keeper is a chef. If you compare what you get, location, and amenities for cosy the Addison is definetly top of the list. As a surprise for my wife I wanted to take a horse drawn carriage ride, and the keepers arranged it completely for me and charged it to the room so no pesky financial transactions needed to take place following the romantic ride. The keepers will set up anything available with only notice of what you want to do, when you want to do it, and how many people. Im a hard person to please and I give the Addison an overwhelming 5 out of 5. If you choose anywhere else good luck, but if you choose the Addison I know you will be pleased. Good luck and happy hunting.

The attention to detail is what makes this inn so spectacular. The breakfasts are worth the calorie splurge. The happy hour is a perfect time to get restaurant suggestions from the innkeepers and other guests, as well as ideas for what to do on the island. The late night lemonade and homemade cookies or brownies make you excited to get back to the inn. The linens in the rooms make it difficult to get out of bed, but the breakfast smell coming in our room in the morning helps with that. Bob, Shannon, Lee and Molly are excellent hosts and all of the guests seem to feed off their chilled out island attitude, making relaxing that much easier.

A fantasy home away from home is the best way I can sum up The Addison. Yes, this would be my ideal home experience if I was extremely tidy, a great cook, and located on a relaxing beach island. The Addison is my first Bed and Breakfast and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed. Bob and Shannon are the greatest hosts and unbelievable innkeepers. They are extremely helpful and knowledgeable in attending to your every need (i.e. tips on day trip necessities to Cumberland Island or the beach, suggestions on where to eat...and I recommend Espana if you go, directions...you name it). In addition, they sponsor a daily happy hour from 5:00 - 6:00 pm which is a great way to wind down (pun intended) and meet all the other guests staying there. The rooms are refreshing, beautiful, and tranquil much as I would imagine you would encounter in the main estate of a yesteryear sugar plantation. It has tropicalness about it, while the main house has a European Victorian or Edwardian feel to it. Special treats like the lavendar salts make you feel pampered. The food was stupendous! Shannon is a gourmet chef in her own right, baking up treats that would make even Martha Stewart envious! There is nothing I have to say negative about my experience and would recommend The Addison as the perfect retreat for any couple seeking a brief sojourn of solace, romanticism, and relaxation.

Our stay at the Addison on Amelia was short, but very, very sweet. We have stayed at many inns, but Bob and Shannon were by far the best hosts a guest could hope for. The afternoon happy hour was fun and comfortable, and good conversation flowed for several hours. The bed linens and towels were noticeably luxurious, and proof that Bob and Shannon want to treat their guests to only the best. To top it off, our travel arrangements had us leaving at 7:00AM, which meant we would miss the morning breakfast. Upon learning of our early departure, Bob graciously offered to meet us for some breakfast at 6:30AM the next morning. To our delight he was waiting for us bright and early and whipped us up a tasty breakfast of scrambled eggs, muffins, sausage, and fruit in a martini glass! The food was delicious and we’re sure we missed an outstanding “official” breakfast that was served later in the morning. Other guests we talked to raved about the delicious breakfasts they had had during their stay. We have left other inns before breakfast in the past, but have not experienced other innkeepers that were willing to go out of their way and offer to accommodate us. This kind gesture was greatly appreciated and completely unexpected. We were sad to leave this beautiful Inn and community! We definitely plan to return to the Addison again in the future and will make sure we stay a little longer next time! Mark and Amanda

We parked the car and never had to use it! This B&B is perfectly located to everything. The food, service, room and hosts were outstanding. Always fresh cookies, coffee and fruit available along with a 3 course breakfast and filling happy hour. By far, the most relaxing time we've had in ages!

The courtyard is a relaxing place to spend a few days away from it all! Highly recommended!

Don't worry about leaving anything behind. The rooms are well stocked with bottled water and luxurious towels. Beach towels, chairs and even bikes and helmets are available for the asking. Awake to the aromas of Shannon's special breakfast treats and delicious breakfast entrees. Bob is the host with the most as he visits and serves guests during happy hour. Truly a delightful retreat from busy home activities. If you "have" to check on home, Internet access is available, but I would opt for the books, magazines, and chess set so conveniently set out for the guests of Addison.

It was just so relaxing to be able to spend 4 days in such a nice atmosphere with good folks like the host and the other guest who got together in the afternoon for happy hour. Addison on Amelia is the perfect B&B. My room was immaculate, and the bedding was perfectly cozy and comforting. Bob and Shannon are wonderful hosts, offering a delicious breakfast every morning, and relaxed and interesting 5:00 p.m. wine conversation. The island has an intriguing history, and many shops and restaurants to choose from. With fresh water on one side, and the ocean on the other, the wildlife viewing is varied, and the "fresh catch" delicious! I enjoyed my stay very much, and would recommend the Addison whole-heartedly.

There's everything to love about the Addison on Amelia Island. The inn itself is lovely, spacious and beautiful; the rooms are clean, welcoming and well-appointed. Bob and Shannon are ideal hosts who attend to every detail and make sure your every need is addressed. Bring your appetite---breakfasts at the Addison are delicious and plentiful; happy hour appetizers, beer & wine are a great prelude to the evening (as well as a welcome opportunity to meet you fellow guests and get to know your hosts a bit better). We've stayed at many B&B's over the years, and the Addison is now our favorite. If the beauty and ambiance of this inn doesn't capture your heart, the hospitality, care and friendliness of your hosts, Bob and Shannon, will. Make your reservations now and rest assured, you will have made a fantastic choice. Trust the reviews you find online---this inn is fantastic and choosing the Addison will only make your stay on Amelia Island that much better and more complete. What more can you ask from your accommodations?

Amelia Island is a great place to get away and relax and The Addison is a wonderful place to stay while visiting the island. It is conveniently located in the Historic District and within a five minute walk to many restaurants and shopping and the Marina. Main Beach is only a five minute drive across the Island. My wife and I frequently stay at B&Bs and this one ranks near the top of the scale. The room was comfortable and clean and the bed and bedding were way above par.The early evening social hour was nice and is a good way to meet other travelers. The breakfast were very good but not something that I could go on and on about. Crusing bikes and beach gear is available for your use and the owners are always available to meet your requests. This B&B is a fair value for the island especially when considering its location in the historic district. The Addison is more geared to couples looking to get away for alone time and the laid back and slow pace that Amelia Island offers. I have no complaints and would recommend this B&B to anyone.

Living in Orlando and next to Disney World, we were looking for a quiet weekend getaway. We'd heard of Amelia Island but had never been there. So we went on line to review B&Bs in the area to see which one came closest to what we wanted. The website for the Addison on Amelia gave us a thorough view of the accommodations provided. Our criteria was met by browsing the website. Everything looked good, so we confirmed our reservation. Driving up A1A on the way into the area did not give a clue of what was ahead. We were cordially invited into the Addison by the staff. Our room overlooked the fountain courtyard, just as the website showed. The 5-6 happy hour was refreshing after the drive up. Bob and Shannon were very friendly hosts and made the experience all the more pleasant. The Addison is located one block south of the main historic area of Fernandina Beach. Everything was in walking distance. They did have bikes that we used to ride around the whole district. The map of the historic homes and sites was very helpful on our Saturday tour of the area. At the end of the main street was a Marina which provided us a guided sea tour of the both North Amelia Island and the even more intersting Cumberland Island, a refuge for wild horses. The breakfasts at the Addison were a refreshing start for the day. We took advantage of the cool mornings to sit on the back porch. There are a number of restaurants in the area within walking distance. The two we can recommend would be the Espania and Carolyn's on Centre Street. There is also an excellent fudge shop on Centre Street where most of the visitors sit down for a nice ice cream break. Overall we had a very enjoyable, relaxing time. This was one adventure we would recommend without reservation.

I told Shannon that they were Quad A as it was diffently the Anniversary at Addison on Amelia on Ash Street weekend, as there were 7 couples there celibrating their wedding anniversarys. We had never been to Amelia Island in the 4 years we have lived in Florida so decided to go there for our 40th wedding anniversary and so I could get away and just have a quite relaxing weekend since I had been working 80 plus hour weeks for some time. We have stayed in several B&B's around the country and only one other in Indiana that we have stayed at even come close to this one. Even though Bob and Shannon are sure doing everything RIGHT from the happy hour + (not to be missed) right down to the scrumptious breakfasts and fantastic presentations. their breakfasts go right along with the rest of the food we had on the Island from Chefs not cooks that really care about there food. The town was a laid back quite town even with a lot of people walking around looking at all of the quaint little shops all within walking distance of the B&B. The town was more like several old European towns we have visited. The beach was near by and great with warm water for this time of the year being the Altantic ocean, it really suprised us. This was not a party place with a bunch of roudys and a pool but we did have a good time chatting with the other guest during happy hour and at breakfast compairing our lives what we had done and where we had eaten while there. All in all it was a very rejunivating, relaxing, enjoyable 40th weeking anniversary weekend. One of the best things I liked most was Bob's saying "Life is Short - Eat Desert First" which is how we started Saturday morning breakfast with absolutly wonderful fresh home made Strawberry Short Cake.

My husband and I and our dear friends were in Fernandina for a lovely week end to attend the Am. Island Chamber Music Festival. What a wonderful surprise to find such a lovely inn and and such lovely inn keepers. The breakfasts and Happy hour appetizers were wonderful and we so enjoyed our special get-together away from home. Thanks to Bob and Shannon. We'll be back!!
