This place is a DUMP and filthy on top of it. They were undergoing some renovations while we were there but I seriously wonder if this place will ever be a decent B&B. The host Sonny was nice enough but the place was falling apart and filthy. If you do stay here, don't peek into the kitchen prior to eating breakfast. The health department needs to visit this place.

This wonderfully restored mansion has wonderful rooms, a fantastic host, and is only a couple of blocks from downtown Knoxville. It can't be beat. Located on a quiet street close to the river, but so close to sights, restaurants, the stadium - everything. Rates are very reasonable, too. Much cheaper than the nearby hotels. An excellent value. Very enjoyable

this was a great stopover on a 1700 mile trip between new orleans and maine - hmm, a cozy room in a very pleasant bed and breakfast downtown with an eclectic selection of restuarants nearby or a generic motel off the interstate with variety of generic fastfood restuarants to choose from - a no-brainer! as I had made arrangements to meet a friend in lexington, va, for lunch, sonny even had breakfast for me at 6:30 am, above and beyond the call of duty!!! (thanks, sonny!)

We have stayed with at the Maplehurst several times over the past 22 years. Under Sonny's management the service and value have sky rocketed. Recently Sonny hosted our daughter's 14 birthday at the Maplehurst. It couldn't have turned out better. Sonny is a true host and made our stay delightful.

If you're expecting a 5 star hotel, you need to pay the price and go to one. Maplehurst is a unique stay much like spending the night at your frends house. Great service and a "feel at home" atmosphere. A little dated but like I said, its like staying at your grandmothers. Great location. Sonny is the best and can accommodate any need. A great home made breaksfast casserole. I will continue to stay there again.

I am frequently in Knoxville, TN on business and always stay at the Maplehurst Inn. The location is exceptional. I can walk to everything downtown Knoxville has to offer. All the other downtown hotels are much more expensive and I never felt like I was staying in a home; it was always just a room. Because I travel alone it is great to meet other travelers at breakfast or in the parlor. Be sure to ask the kind innkeeper, Sonny, about all the great hidden treasures that Knoxville has to offer. He is always "in the know". If you want a comfortable place, with a great breakfast at a tremendous value I highly recommend this wonderful place.

I would highly recommend the Inn to anyone as a great location and an incredible value. Sonny, our gracious innkeeper, was not only a great host he also had extensive knowledge of all the great things to do in and around Knoxville. The location allowed us to walk to great restaurants and an abundance of attractions only minutes from our front door. The breakfast was more than we could eat and the casserole was so tasty we got the recipe. Our room was comfortable, clean and outfitted with great antiques. We got everything and more than we would have gotten from much higher priced downtown hotels. If you want a memorable stay, with a great host pick the Maplehurst B&B. From now on we will always pick this as our "home away from home" in Knoxville!

I've stayed at B&B's before and this was absolutely repulsive. Hair (not our's) was on the vanity along with old toothpaste and water drool. The glasses were just as stained. The shower fixtures were falling out of the tub and we stood in water over our ankles when we showered. The bed was falling off the frame and sagging so badly, two people slept in the middle of the bed (not on purpose). A 42" tv was in a box shoved in the corner of the room and in the way. Dust caked the furniture and carpet. Daylight creeped in through the brick under the window. Paper thin and stained towels had no where to hang to dry and the toilet paper holder was dangling from the wall with no rod to hold the roll. I paid $150 a night to stay in this shaggy room. The sheets were thin and we had no blankets. Breakfast was canned fruit and the same cassorole two days in a row. Wallpaper and paint were peeling and flaking. Just awful. I don't know how in good conscience anyone could charge this much for such uncleanliness. Don't stay in room 4. Maybe the other rooms were clean, but I doubt it.

This was the most filthy, cluttered establishment I have ever stayed at. There was an extensive amount of dust on the furniture, the sink was caked in prior guests' toothpaste and there were water drippings down the vanity. Hair was on the sink (not our's) and the water glasses were stained with prior guest's lips and toothpaste. The shower fixtures were falling off the tub, there was no towel rack to be seen and there wasn't even a bar to hold the toilet paper in the holder. The two double beds were falling off the frames and the mattresses were so worn out the fitted sheets kept popping off. A new 42" tv sat on the floor still in the box. The paint and wallpaper were peeling off the walls. Every corner in the room/bathroom and beds were covered in spider webs. I'd like to know what rooms the other guests were staying in to think this was a wonderful place. There were three of us with varying degrees of need for neatness and we were all repulsed. I'd rather be outdoors using the bathroom in the woods than take another shower in this dump. Absolutely awful!!!!! Oh, and could we please update the 1980's bottles of partially used Balsam shampoo and conditioner or maybe even get rid of the "extend your tan" used body lotion. Not to be too picky, but maybe a magazine or book not dated in the 1950's.

My wife & I & our new F-550 were driving home to Florida when we lost power & coasted to a stop15 mi from the Kentucky/Tennessee border. (We'd just called The Maplehurst Inn about another 1.5 hours drive) AAA sent a truck & we towed to Knoxville 85 miles south. During the ride I called Sonny 4 times. He was always patient & helpful. He said he would be there & the room would be waiting. We made it to the Inn about 11 pm. 1,000’s of people were in the streets. Every parking spot was taken. We had chosen an Inn 2 BLOCKS from the University of Tennessee Stadium on GAME NIGHT & arrived as 104,000 people were leaving the stadium. Sonny jumped in his car & went in search of a parking spot, found one, the driver dropped the truck, & Sonny drove me back to the Inn. He got on the phone, 11:20pm & called restaurants til he found Calhoun’s open at Volunteer Landing. We ate and walked back to the Inn. Our room was a cool haven of peace called the Rose room. IT WAS GREAT. For the next 5 days as the truck was repaired, Sonny & Becky became like family to us. They: • Lent us their Car & offered a cell phone when ours died • Found a Dealer to repair the F-550 • Took us home for supper • Took us on a tour of Gatlinburg & the Smoky Mountains • Took us Downtown for an evening of Local culture • Sonny took us to an Egyptian restaurant MO’S KING TUT GRILL. You gotta go! • Took us to UT Stadium, Norris Dam & a historic Grist mill • Drove us through Old City & we saw beautiful old homes • Took us on an evening tour of historic cemeteries • And when the Truck was repaired he drove us to the dealer & gave the repair his approval It was a week like no other in our lives. We threw a dart at a map for a casual one night stay and ended up making a family like friendship that we will to keep precious for all our days. Thank you Sonny & Becky. There are not enough words to express our appreciation for your gracious good will toward us.

Charming...charming ...charming !!! From the front entry with its beautiful cut glass vase to the hospitality of the our host Sonny. You will enjoy a quiet and relaxing weekend. The Maplehurst Inn is located close to everything. We spent a wonderful weekend touring the downtown Knoxville area. Sonny gave us local area maps and directions. The scenery is amazing and the history of this city is rich. We loved the Tennessee River paddleboat and visited with our new found Knoxville friends at the Marina on their Houseboat. We got to see the University of Tennessee Neyland Stadium and we went up to the fourth floor Glass Room of the Sunsphere at the World's Fair Park next to the Convention Center. The Inn was always peaceful to come back to at the end of our Very Full days. Sonny always had some snacks out at night downstairs in the Dining room. We slept in late the last day and savored the calm and quiet. He did not rush us out .. a real treat when you are traveling!

My husband and I were traveling to visit friends in Knoxville for a week. We happened upon the Maplehurst Inn. It is a simply wonderful Inn with the nicest owner. Sonny is as accomodating as can be and always has a nice cup of tea brewing. I especially enjoyed a quiet evening in the parlor after a day of visiting with friends and shopping downtown. The peaceful surroundings and nice room made us want to stay longer. I liked all the antique furniture and beautiful pictures everywhere. The other guests were pleasant and we all shared stories at breakfast every morning. Our room was neat, clean, cool and taken care of everyday. I am not sure where the other reviewers stayed but we were very pleased with our accomodations. I would happily recommend the Maplehurst Inn to my friends who appreciate the look, feel, and setting of an old european Bed and Breakfast. Try it you'll like it!!

We stopped in Knoxville Tennessee on our way to Atlanta. We stayed at a perfect little Bed and Breakfast called the Maplehurst Inn. Sonny was our host and he did everyting to make our stay pleasant. We had a wonderful time in the palor playing piano and reminiscing about the old times. The room was comfortable and we had a private bath. The location is right off route 75 and 40 so we had access to everywhere. We took a trip on the paddleboat down the Tennessee River and went up to the Sunsphere and saw all of Knoxville and the Smoky Mountains in the background. This is a great place to stop for a day or two. Put it on your list. Thanks Sonny

This wonderful Bed and Breakfast reminded me of my weekends at my Grandma's house. Beautiful antique furniture, breakfast cooked to order, a piano in the sitting palor, and a private bath in our room made our stay relaxing and comfortable. Sonny is a superior host and his hints on where to eat and what to see made every day an adventure in discovery. We Love the Maplehurst Inn. Than you
