Review Oakenwald Terrace, Chatfield, MN

Photo Album

The front entrance hall will greet you with beautiful woodwork and a two story stained glass window. There are four decks/porches on the house and three terraced levels to the grounds which provide a park like setting.
Bedrooms are furnished with a queen or king size antique bed and a sitting area of antique furniture. Each bedroom has a private bath. This picture is of the Round Room. The bed is almost a foot wider than a standard king size bed.The four course breakfast is not only delecious, but is served on fine china in one of the most elegant settings imaginable.
Beautiful, even from the the back yard. The common areas are warm and comfortable.
Mrs. Lovell's room is the original owner's suite. This room is on the first floor, has a very large sitting area, a walk in closet, queen size bed, gas fireplace with remote control and a full bath. The dining room is one of the grandest rooms in the house. The white oak woodwork is all original with hand carved detail that will amaze you. Breakfast and our seven course dinners are served here on fine china with real silver flatware. You will dine like Kings and Queens during your stay.
Off the dining room at Oakenwald is a screened in porch that is over 30 feet long. Wine and cheese are served here when the weather is comfortable. This porch is one of the more popular places for our guests to spend their time.Frink's Room, (no, that is not a typo) named after the son of the original owner, has queen bed and private bathroom with shower. The large sitting area boasts my favorite rocking chair in the house!
The Blue Room has a large bathroom with a shower/tub combination and full size vanity. This warm room has a Queen bed and a large walk-in closet. The Doll Room is on the third floor. It features a queen bed, a bathroom with a tub, a walk in closet and a large sitting area. The room displays many antique dolls.
Terrace View is perhaps the most popular room at Oakenwald with king bed, large sitting area and private bath with shower. However, the most alluring feature is the attached large private deck. You will enjoy the peaceful setting, wonderful view and a bridge that connects the deck to the second level terrace of the grounds. As impressive as it is on the outside, Oakenwald Terrace is even more fascinating on the inside. The quality craftsmanship and years of loving care are evident throughout. The antiques and collectibles leave our guests commenting about "museum" quality.
