Benjamin Young Inn Scones

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk

  1. Heat oven to 425 degrees. Combine dry ingredients in food processor with steel blade. Cut butter in small pieces and add to flour mixture and process until mixture resembles a coarse meal. Add buttermilk and process just until dough forms a ball.
  2. Add raisins or cranberries. Pat or roll on a board until dough is about 3/4 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake 15-20 minutes.
  4. Makes about 15 scones
