Spicy Almonds: Appetizer-Snack

Prep time:1/2 hour

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoon Peanut Oil

  • 2 cup Blanched Almonds

  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Cumin

  • 1 teaspoon Hot pepper flakes

  • 2 tablespoons Sugar

Step 1:

Use a heavy-bottomed pan to heat peanut oil over medium heat.

Step 2:

Add almonds and sprinkle with sugar. Saute until nuts turn golden brown and sugar has carmelized. Remove nuts from pan. Drain.

Step 3:

Combine remaining ingredients and toss with nuts in a bowl. Spread nuts on a layer of waxed paper. Separate as much as possible and allow to cool.

Step 4:

Can also use pecans, walnuts, dry garbonzo beans. Serving suggestions: Alone as a snack Dessert topping for pastry or vanilla ice cream With entrees e.g chicken, fish, curry dishes Add to salads
