Lucious Lemon Tea Bread

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated lemon peel
  • 3/4 cup dairy sour cream

  1. Mix dry ingredients together and set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Adds eggs one at a time and beat well. Add lemon peel and beat. Add dry ingredients alternating with sour cream and beat well. Pour into greased loaf pan and bake at 350 for 50 to 60 minutes until tested with long toothpick or knife blade. Makes one leaf. Let cool for 10 minutes. Use a toothpick to poke holes in the top of bread. Mix ¼ cup sugar and juice of one lemon together. Pour over top of bread and let soak into the loaf via the toothpick holes. Cool and remove from pan. Makes one loaf.
