Almond Crusted French Toast: Breakfast-Brunch

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf French or Italian bread

  • 6 eggs

  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds

Step 1:

Slice bread approx. 3/4 in. thick

Step 2:

beat remaining ingredients except almonds

Step 3:

dip bread into egg mixture, place on cookie sheet

Step 4:

sprinkle almonds evenly over bread mixture

Step 5:

transfer to hot griddle, almond side up. When browned, flip, cook till almonds are toasty. Serve with real maple syrup and garnish with dried cranberries.
