French Toast Decadence: Breakfast-Brunch

Ingredients:
16 slices firm cinnamon bread

4 oz cream cheese
-
1 cup brown sugar
-
1 stick butter
-
1/4 cup maple syrup
-
6 eggs lightly beaten
-
3/4 cup milk
-
cinnamon and sugar to taste

fruit topping (optional)
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Step 2:
In a bowl, soften cream cheese and mix with cinnamon and sugar to taste. Spread mixture on eight slices. Top each with another slice.
Step 3:
In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter and syrup. Cook over low heat. Pour the heated mixture into a 11" x 17" pan.
Step 4:
In a bowl, mix eggs and milk. Dip the sandwiches in the egg batter. Place the dipped sandwiches on top of the brown sugar mixture in the pan.
Step 5:
Bake at 350 F. for 40 minutes. Remove from oven and flip sandwiches so caramel side is on top. Serve with fruit topping such as blackberries.
