Grand-Maman Leclair’s Banana Bread: Breakfast-Brunch

Prep time:15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shortening (butter is best, but Crisco works fine)

  • 3 cups sugar

  • 1 cup Milk

  • 2 cups mashed ripe bananas

  • 4 cups flour

  • 4 teaspoons baking powder

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

  • 1 cup walnuts

Step 1:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Step 2:

In large bowl, mix together all of the ingredients except the walnuts. Batter should be slightly lumpy. Pour mixture into greased and floured bread pans. Top with decoratively placed walnut halves. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool about 5 minutes before removing from pan. Serve.
