Maple Baked Pears

Ingredients

  • 4 small very ripe pears
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup Maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Allspice

  1. Peel, halve and core each pear. With a very sharp knife, cut the pear into thin slices from bottom about 3/4 of the way up. By leaving them connected at the top, you can fan them to bake faster and display nicer.
  2. Grease bottom of glass baking dish (8x8) with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Place pears in dish.
  3. Pour maple syrup over the pears, sprinkle with brown sugar and allspice.
  4. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes. The juice from the pears and the sugars and butters will blend for a rich sauce.
  5. Serve one or two halves per plate or serve over waffles with extra syrup.
