Five Grain Wheat-Free Hot Cereal

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Brown Rice
  • 1/2 cup steel cut oats
  • 1/3 cup polenta
  • 1/3 cup quinoa
  • 1/3 cup buckwheat
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 9 cups water

  1. Put all ingredients in a slow cooker, in the afternoon on the day before.
  2. Cook on low heat for about 2-3 hours.
  3. Before you go to bed, stir it well, turn the slow cooker off and cover it very well in a blanket or something to keep the heat in all night.
  4. First thing in the morning, turn the slow cooker back on at lowest temperature to bring it back up and keep it warm for self-service.
  5. I provide a choice of additions: milk, half and half, flax seeds, more cinnamon, molasses, honey...
