Melt Away Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1/3 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Almond extract
  • 2 teaspoons half and half
  • 1 drop red food coloring (to make a pale pink frosting)

  1. Mix first 4 ingredients. Form into 1-inch balls, use flour to handle. Makes 36 cookies. Indent thumbprint. Refrigerate for 1 hour
  2. Bake 350 degrees for 15-17 minutes. Cookies should be a pale color with only a ting of color on the bottom of the cookie. Let cool.
  3. For Frosting: Cream 2 tablespoons of melted butter with 1 cup confectioners sugar, 1 tablespoon almond extract, 2 teaspoons half and half and 1 drop of red food coloring. Ice each cookie with a star decorating tip. Enjoy!
