Liberty Hill Blueberry French Toast: Breakfast-Brunch

Prep time:20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Italian Bread (large loaf)

  • 6 eggs

  • 1 1/2 cups half and half

  • 1 1/2 cups milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon oil

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • dash nutmeg

  • TOPPING

  • 1 stick butter

  • 1 cup dark brown sugar

  • 1 1/2 cups blueberries

Step 1:

Butter a 13 x 9 pyrex baking dish and slice Italian bread 3/4" to 1" thick. Arrange bread slices in baking dish.

Step 2:

Mix eggs, vanilla, milk, half and half, lemon oil, cinnamon and nutmeg in large bowl. Pour over bread, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Step 3:

NEXT MORNING: Liberally sprinkle blueberries on top of bread; Mix butter and brown sugar with pastry blender or fork and sprinkle topping over fruit and bread dish.

Step 4:

Bake at 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Dust with confectioner's sugar and serve warm.
