Grease a 13 x 9 casserole dish. Rip bread in pieces and arrange half in bottom of dish. Scatter cream cheese on top, then 2 cups of blueberries. Arrange remaining bread on top.
Mix together eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, syrup and milk. Pour evenly over bread mixture. Bake at 350 degrees about 1 hour. Serve with blueberry sauce. (This dish may be prepared the day before, refrigerated overnight, and baked the day you wish to serve it.)
Add remaining blueberries and simmer about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until berries have burst.
For Blueberry Sauce: In a saucepan, mix 1 cup sugar, cornstarch and water. Cook over moderate heat, for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.
